In this episode we look into nature around your parks. It's a difficult one to put a menu on because everything is entwined:

This ended up being a combined "how to" video too. It felt like I should be showing you how to do things rather than just telling you about them....
The series is split into 2 difficulty levels: BASIC and PRO. The idea is that if you are a new player or a console player without access to Theme Maker's Toolkit items then you can still create realistic parks but the Pro's amongst us can sink their teeth into the Pro level and really put their PC's to the test!

Another thing: I wish there was an enlarge tool in planet coaster. I have a conifer and it’s HUGE - at least 6’2”!! The conifers in game are one size and about 4’5”…

i always rote between each tree or bush.. looks nice. Simple is good. I always overthink and try to make everything too straight n boring.
Does anyone know what the biggest location size is? I feel like tropical is bigger than city, and I was wondering if they had different sizes
They're all the same, but I always load the biomes into the scenario editor and adjust the sizes... :)

ty ty just started playing and started an alpine save and now i goggled what countrys have pine trees i found Scotland has some species goin for more of a half real half themed park so yea time to make a giant pine forest
Just saw this video. Not sure if anyone has mentioned elsewhere, but Narcissus has a much easier to remember (and say!) name. Daffodils. 😃 I have no idea why PlanCo didn't just call them Daffodils instead of going with the species name; especially when basically all the other plants *do* use the common name in-game.

Im going to sound like a real geek here but as a horticulturist myself and a uk native whilst alot of this makes sense some of it just isn't practical or realistic. narcissus or daffodil family are late winter/spring flowering bulbs yet bergonias/petunias are summer flowering annuals so wouldnt be out in bloom at the same time also knowing a few garden designers annuals are very expensive and would only be used to accent say an actual planter or hanging baskets (used sparingly due to cost) as annuals only bloom for a year then would need to be replaced, most long stretches of border would take the cost into account and plant summer flowering perennials (come back every year) and i think you also mentioned at some point about the tree diversity (cant use alpine trees for the uk) yet there are many coniferous type trees that self seed in uk woodlands bare areas. The area of hampshire im in literally has scots pines everywhere and even further north at alton towers have a wide array of pines spruces and that massive cedar tree on the lawn to the house all piney needle like trees. As well as the native english oak beech and birches also another thing to consider is which aspect the plants are facing...if i were design a border at a theme park id make sure all my summer flowering annuals were either south/west or east facing as they wouldnt flower at all well if facing north, but things like ferns and hostas would be used in those shady or north facing areas. Also if i remember right the old mystic east area of chessinton used to have bamboo everywhere which is horrible stuff to dig out but is used everywhere in the uk for screening as its cheap and fast growing, plus also in the case of chessington was used for that particular theme as its native to the themed area.....we cant grow cactuses outside here in the uk but alot of parks/hotels theme parks will use the infamous traechycarpus and chaemerops humilis type palms to create an exotic feel say in a piratey area, as these are all frost hardy so can tolerate the climate well. So we are not just limited to oaks and beeches :) hope this helps anyone in any way
So, we are limited to the foliage we have in the game. We have to work with that. We don't work with seasonality to have the luxury of seasoned blooms.. we don't have biome specific assets like Zoo does. We get what we are given and do the best with that. We have to turn our purist tendencies off when in Coaster because perfect is the enemy of good.
@Nerdchacho hey thanks for responding! I 100% understand all of the difficulties of the game and even when looking through the workshop alot of things like basic laurel hedging and certain uk native shrubbery (which are used in every uk car park low maintenance areas) aren't on the workshop and should've pointed that out in my first reply as I just sounded ranty lol which wasn't my intention. I myself am terrible at planet coaster hence why im watching your amazing work. but wish the assets especially for making a uk biome were more readily available. Rather than everything on there being over the top fantasy like stuff would be at a Disney park. Where us brits know full well what our limits are here in the UK 🤣
@@michaeltwiddy88 I would love to have the same biodiversity that zoo has.. it would be incredible and allow us to make parks from actual regions rather than cobbling them together.. plus spamming the same 5 trees everywhere gets boring 🤣

Yep, from the main menu, locate your save and select the button that looks like a mountain next to the Open As button..

which 2 grasses would you recommend for a realistic park, are both of the deciduous grasses good for realistic parks?
Yes, I use them 2... I also sometimes have a light grass, a dark grass, a mud or sand, the autumn leaves, the alpine flowers, a rock and an asphalt..
@@Nerdchacho would you recommend the darker deciduous grass as the main terrain paint for the whole map and then add the lighter one or the opposite way round
@@willemgorman6134 depends on where you are basing your park in the world. It is easy to swap over if you don't like it..

I wonder why they limit the use on console... There is so much that I am missing. I wish I could add this to my PC without buying the whole thing again!!!
Mostly resources.. the consoles don't cope with open world games like PCs do.. A PC you can push to the limit but a console prefers a more contained, structured game.. so this is a way to create that framework..
