Instead of pricking the Potato with a fork, I mark a cross on the flatter side. Just enough so that it aids the cooking, not too much that the potato is quartered. But putting olive oil on (before adding a pinch of salt) instead of butter is a great idea. Will try it!

Thanks: the baked potatoes look great! I'd suggest a combi approach to cooking these as an hour baking at 200C is less energy efficient than a few minutes in a micro wave before transferring to the air fryer for only 20 to 30 minutes on pre-heated 200C. Only an air fryer or traditional oven will make a fluffy potatoe with crisp skin, but tge micro wave is very energy efficient even at 800 - 900 watts.

Instead of pricking with a fork I run a knife around the circumference of the patio. Don't cut to deep, 2 to 3 mm will do. Like pricking, it stops the potato exploding during cooking but also allows you to break the potato in half when cooked.
Another tip is to cook them in the microwave before putting them in the air fryer. Reduces cooking time and is a little bit cheaper on energy.

A lot of faffing about just give them about 10/12 minutes in microwave on high, then 15 minutes in air fryer at 200 perfect spuds with great edible skins.

I microwave potatoes wrapped in paper towel to start softening process. Much faster.

I do it faster in a normal oven, 30 mins. at 200C/350F without further ado.

I never do mine for that long, usually half an hour and then check to see if they need longer, and the electric used is a lot less than conventional oven

Wonderful to hear that. You do what works for you David but the Airfyers are more energy efficient than commercial ovens. My potatoes never cook in 30mins unless they're a wee little ones. The ones I used in the video demonstration were very large baking potatoes, hence why they took an hour to cook.

you need 45 to 1 hour to get the skins crispy, yes you can mirco wave and cook them for 15-20 min air fryer but your not getting the same crisp, low energy prices i do 1 hour, when prices rise i do mirco and 15 min
