  • Anyone can learn to read an ECG, it's not as complicated as you've probably been led to believe!
    This short animated video covers the basic principles using simple vocabulary and easy-to-follow animations. Includes the underlying principles of;
    -the cardiac cycle,
    -how electricity is conducted through the heart,
    -how we can observe this flow of electricity using electrodes and ECG leads,
    -what do the 'p waves', 'QRS complexes', etc. on an ECG trace actually mean?
    Timestamps:
    00:00 intro
    00:11 The Cardiac cycle
    01:17 Electrical conduction in the heart
    03:24 Electrodes and leads, the principles of ECG recording
    05:34 capturing an ECG complex with electrodes.
    07:46 Test your ECG knowledge: what's this ECG?

    There is a reduced flow of electricity from the left ventricle to the right ventricle going away from the eye thereby producing that sharp curve which is the Q.
