    I’ve been watching a few of your videos and i must say, amazing content. Just tried out the “idea compass” template for an idea i was working on and it really helped me think in a new and different way.

  • @strictnonconformist7369
    @strictnonconformist7369 Год назад +6

    Just a fun little correction: a thought compass is more like a weird thing between 2D and 3D in that it behaves much more like a 2D plane the farther away from the poles you are, though planes on a sphere are not exactly a nice match ;)
    To be more pure 3D in thinking, I’d suggest: up, down, left, right, forwards, backwards.
    Perhaps this framework could be:
    Up: how to make something better with it via application
    Down: how this may be used in a manner that’s considered counterproductive
    Left: look at what makes it advantageous in a context
    Right: look at what makes it disadvantageous in a context (these two could be swapped)
    Forward: is there a logical progression with this in evolution?
    Backward: what is the past history of this, how did we get here?
    I’m thinking opposites fall out in the same conceptual manner if you use this thought template.
    Yes, I only heard of an idea compass a few minutes before I typed this on my iPad. This is a new creation of mine, building off this video and what I found interesting. This video is the backward-facing past step.

    For example if i want to watch only literature notes or only permament one what can i do?

      @@VickyZhaoBEEAMP Thank you for your reply, Vicky. I have watched several of your videos on Obsidian. I started to use Obsidian after watching your videos, and incorporated many helpful templates and plugins you recommended. I think your suggestions are effective and helpful for learners who want to organize and frame their thoughts and ideas. Last night, I was trying to look for an app to visualize and move around ideas in a non-linear way, (to create diagrams) apps such as padlet and miro are helpful. But these often requires payment after trials. I was wondering if Obsidian or any other apps you're familiar with could have some similar features? Which would be superhelpful to visualize ideas. I know hyperlinks are useful, but they're still in some way limited by their linearity of the text, and as impactful as diagrams... Thank you for your time and consideration.

    Im a ux designer by trade, I don't have a specific output in mind yet (maybe writing in future, maybe design related), I know zettelkasten can be helpful to me for learning but without a specific output in mind is it still useful?

    • @VickyZhaoBEEAMP
      @VickyZhaoBEEAMP  2 года назад +1

      If you want to break down ideas and make connections between your knowledge, ideas, and/or make them searchable, I would recommend it!
      Having an output in mind can be motivating and provide direction as to how you want to approach your notes, but it’s definitely not a prerequisite!

    I noticed in your side bar you keep you fleeting notes (& literature notes in a separate folder) does this help you differentiate between notes that need to be made permanent? How do you make sure you return to notes to mak them permanent?

    • @VickyZhaoBEEAMP
      @VickyZhaoBEEAMP  2 года назад

      Hey James! Observant eyes 👀 hehe. That’s actually a legacy folder from when I first started obsidian and tried organizing by folders. I no longer use folders. Instead, I tag notes as a reminder to go through them!

    Do you really think cliches are false?

    • @VickyZhaoBEEAMP

      Not false, but limiting!

    • @strictnonconformist7369
      @strictnonconformist7369 Год назад

      I’d suggest cliches are like a railroad track/train compared to cars and roads as regarding how they’re optimized for expression of an idea efficiently or with nuance: cars are so much more maneuverable but trains are so much more efficient for moving things where they do go.
