The game is pure gold but thats one of my few annoyances with it. They united the northern realms when it was broken apart and actually turned the tides against nilfgaard. The bloke ripped out the upheaval that was the lodge of sorceresses little rush for dominant power. The lodge was rotten from within then suddenly they were victims? Sure you don’t need to kill any wiff of magic but It’s insane- the lodge are realistically war criminals! Philipa got of lightly I say for what she did to him. Those kinda actions woulda gotten you drawn and quartered in late medieval Europe. Taking her eyes was way beyond an act of mercy. Hell tbh he has more reason to kill mages than anyone, the only problem in his annoyingly forced madness is killing every peller and healer also.

From what I see, the Usurper was decent in assimilating neighbouring lands. But then, my man Ardal aep Dahy and the other conspirators somehow overthrew the Usurper who also was in leagues with Gaunter O'Dimm in CD Projekt Red lore and fucked up Nilfgaard again. In the cut content wiki of gwent, Ardal aep Dahy reacts to Emhyr by being pissed off because Emhyr forgot who helped him. Morvran remarks how Emhyr's time will end soon, probably because of people getting pissed at him.
So many people think Redania are bad when in actuality it was just a poor part of the stories writing in III specifically. Whats that? Someone insulting Witcher 3? Kill him I hear you say. Lower your pitchforks and torches I say. Please go do some research, Radovid was actually a good man forced into being a villain in 3 outa but fucks nowhere. Manipulates everyone so that by the end of the game he's in line to marry Foltest's daughter and inherit Temeria Witcher 2: Even though everything fucks up, finally reveals his hand and masterfully plays everyone in most endings, showing himself as the north's best hope against the oncoming NIlfgaardian force. Which he fulfils and unites the broken north. Also rips up the lodge of sorceresses little rush for power and evil acts. And tbh showed Phillipa mercy for what she did. Witcher 3: KILL THE WITCHES! KILL THE PELLERS, KILL THE HEALERS, BURN THE ELVES!!!! BURN, BURN, PILLAGE! GERALT THE CHESS PIECES TALK! CAN TOU HEAR THEM?! Like what? Also where was his wife? And Natalis ran away? What the hell happened to them? Ahhh >:,(
Witcher 3 complete sidelined this plot, so there really isn't much of anything to make sense of. Radovid was supposed to be the mad king who did anything to gain and maintain power. What better way to rally his people than to have a common enemy? His hatred for the mages mainly stems from Phillipa's mistreatment. After that it was all about finding a new enemy to keep his people busy and stay in power. Honestly, this is no different from Emhyr using the North as bait to stay in power.
100% agree! Also when I was reading books for the first time 8 years ago and I read about little Radovid, poor boy, I felt sorry for him. It also made me hate Philippa even more. Then I saw sentence about how powerful king he would become. I was so hyped for TW3, I though I would be able to help Redania protect whole north, fight Philippa with so powerful and wise king on my side, watch how Redania beats everyone but what I saw was mad 40 years old guy. Fortunately it seems like Radovid lives canonically: what we know: - the next emperor will be Morvran Voorhis, member of the opposition. - If emperor makes mistake, he will be dethroned by his opponents. (Nilfgaard tree) - Philippa dies in 1276, killed by Willhemer ethereal fire priest. - Witch hunts end in 1276 too, that's pretty logical, once philippa dies, there is no more need do kill mages. - John Calveit, the emperor after Morvran Voorhis, is going to attend in wars in which he would use his zombie soliders. (Vivocaro academy, experimental rhemedy). Who can he fight with? Potentially skellige and NR, but skellige is less unlikely. So Northern realms haven't been taken by Nilfgaard - Now if you played the Witcher 2, you know exactly how little Geralt cares about politics. He was known as kingslayer for some time and he hated it so much, so whole TW2 story had to happen. He would never even attend in a coup.
No wonder he went crazy. His father was assassinated by the elves, many kingdoms had fallen to the empire, major rulers of the North were assassinated, he was left alone against the Nilfgaard.

Also because he knew she wanted to kill him. There were 2 realms captured by nilfgaard: Cintra and Temeria. Lyria and Rivia is most likely neutral: - It was separated from Redania and Nilfgaard on a map in TW3 - Because of this "small piece of land" Emhyr lost 2nd war. It wouldn't be his high priority target. - Emhyr owes Meve: she stopped Demavend, who wanted to attack exposed nilfgaard. - Lyria and Rivia are great source of income for nilfgaard: it produced cheaper, worse product and sold them in Meve's country. - Lyria and Rivia didn't mind Nilfgaard attacking other realms. Meve only wanted to have peace on her land. So only 2 bigger realms were captured. Major rulers have been assassinated? One of them died while fighting his friends, another was killed by Philippa, yet another by Radovid himself. Actually the fact he stayed alone helped Radovid and that's what he wanted to reach. To sum up: Radovid became mad because CDPR needed an antagonist :)

Nilfgaard alone would annihilate the 7 Kingdoms of Westeros. Only strategic masterminds like Robb Stark can beat them in battle. Choke points like Most Caitlin and the Dornish marshes would prevent Nilfgaard from easily Conquering the North and Dorne. Vale can withstand invasion too. Regardless it would take all of the 7 Kingdoms united to beat Nilfgaard with Robb on the wheel.

Best king is Foltest even though he's kind of a bastard as well, nit nearly as bad as Radovid though Wirth noting that Radovid rules the largest and most powerful northern kingdom by the time of W3, so it's totally understandable why he represents them here
