GREAT VIDEO. Thank you. Just one point I'm from Hawaii and just to point out that the red lava is red not because they are dusty, but it's the color of the lava depending on the minerals pouring out of the volcano. There are other colors also, black is one, and not all lava is stones like you have, some are like bread chucks, all sizes, in that one type is full of holes like a loaf of bread , except that the holes are bigger, and smaller Great for a bosain plant. Other lava is just solid like a blacktop highway No problem though, in about 10,000 years it will be close to being able to plant on. Thanks for the vid.
I am so glad there are wonderful people like you, who take those dying plants and give them new life! Very interesting video! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and insights!
Thank you and Happy Saturday back at ya! I'm really liking all the videos lately! I don't mind one bit that you are putting out more videos. Your videos always make me happy, you're very entertaining, and very knowledgable. Enjoy the rest of your weekend 🐛🌴😉🌞😊
Thank you! I have always tried to put out atleast 3 videos a week but I always aim for 4. I think may alternate every other week with 3 then 4, just because I like to spend more time editing and cleaning them up than I used to. ... I appreciate your motivational support! Thank you!
How are you introducing these plants safely to your aquatic ecosystem to reduce risk of parasites or other disruptions to koi? I understand rinsing the roots and the organic soil. But are you quarantining the plants or rinsing them in a disinfectant prior to planting?
Tropical storms always seem to cause more problems once they move inland. It passed about 30 miles from here on Monday, it got a little windy and a smattering of rain, no big deal. We could have used a bit more rain out of it, oh well. At least you won't have to do any watering for a few days!
Just came outside for my morning walk through and tea with my dogs... that makes it sound like I'm having a tea party w my dogs, they are running around while I wake up. Anyway!... its 65 degrees out, my furniture is all flipped and the leaves r torn off of some of my elephant ears... how did a storm that powerful not wake me up! Lol
What was that last plant, the one that cascaded over the wall. That was so pretty. Does it need shade? Can I grow it in zone 9? A lot of my “full 🌞 “ plants in pots can not handle the hot afternoon sun, they all seem to scorch, even my echeveria’s. Can you recommend a plant that will tolerate hot 🌞? My patio does go full shade around 4pm, but it’s the 11-4 that is a killer for my plants. I’m going to be putting up a sun shade, hopefully that will help. Right now I have all my plants bunched up on my concrete patio in the shade, I can barely get out my door for the plants 😝. Have a good one, bye bye 👋
Hello! That was lespedeza thunbergii 'Volcano' and they are to zone 8. Unfortunatley they need a winter dormancy and chill. Some great potted plants for zone 9 and full sun would be: -Strelitizia Reginae -orange bird of paradise -Many Agaves, though some are spikey so they aren't great for high traffic areas -Wasshintonia(mexican and california) fan palms, though they will outgrow containers within a few years. -Many yucca varities -Spineless cactus like Optuntia Nopales -mediterranean fan palm Flowering plants like portulaca can take a lot of sun and trail very nicely. I'll add on as i think of more. :)
My head is spinning over that video but everything really looks nice and very full back by the swing. Sure do enjoy seeing it all tho, but yeah don't go so fast....lol
lol, I know! I had to move and rush through it becuase the sun was setting and the forecast had just changed so suddenly that i was concerned if i didn't get everything done that night, then i wouldn't be able to later that week with all of the rain... it rained for like 1 hour btw... not 5 days straight like they said! Urgh! But i was actually winded by the time i was recording from the rushing and speed talking. :) Sorry! lol
How did you ever move those heavy containers into place? My back is hurting just thinking about it. Everything looks great. I love fifty cent plants. The field bindweed is covering my neighbors evergreens and growing up their deck railings. They don’t seee it apparently..heeheehee.
I love all of the tropical plants here! Good to see it can be done in a place that gets down below the 20’s in the winter!

Damn dude - is this your house? It's HUGE. Mind-boggling amount of plants and accessories!
I am so glad there are wonderful people like you, who take those dying plants and give them new life!

Thank you Kathleen! I'm always a sucker for clearance plants, even if they are on their last leg. :)

Ha! There's a video you can make, a tea party with your dogs, replete with little hats (fascinators) and finger sandwiches.

When i reached for them I thought they were going to be much heavier than they actually were... very pleasant surprise! :)
