      In the game folder there's an amazing secret WAD you can load from the console (or rename to the original's filename) where you're Donald Duck with a minigun and have to kill everyone and Mickey is the final boss. lolol

      I get the feeling this was in development right after MM1 since he mentions in the video they used the 3D for Toy Story. So I can only imagine they went to Disney and said "hey we want to make MM2" and Disney said "BAM! This is our new movie. Make a game for it quick".

    Can’t say I’m surprised the DOOM tribute was rejected. They still don’t want characters like Mickey Mouse in fighting games which is why Dissidia, which was intended to be Kingdom Hearts game, was changed to be a Final Fantasy one and why Sora didn’t have any references to the Disney characters sans the Kingdom Key when he was included in Smash Ultimate. Even Epic Mickey was toned down from its initial darker tone to fit more with Disney’s mandates

    • @ultrairrelevantnobody1862
      @ultrairrelevantnobody1862 3 года назад +6

      Not quite. Both systems have their strengths and weaknesses. The SNES could provide extra colour and had a technically superior sound chip that was ahead of its time. The Mega Drive, meanwhile, was a much faster system and the weaker music and visual technicals had the one positive of not taking up as much space on the cartridges, which allowed devs to fit in extra content. I know a lot of people like to look at games like Starfox and say "Look what the Super Nintendo is doing!" Eh, it's technically on par with Hard Drivin' on the MD, and the latter didn't cheat with extra chips.

      @@rommix0 it definitely still is a thing. Few games back then were optimized to this extent also, you just don't see people making videos about the crappy games they made back in the 90s, just the exceptional ones.

    Super cool. Mickey Mania 2 was a missed opportunity. That sidescroling level looks even better than Toy Story level you did (though that was cool too). That doom level though, oh how I want a Disney x Doom game now!

    The fireflies remind me of Castlevania Rondo of Blood. There is a stage where flying insects (moths?) cluster around lights and items but when there are none on the screen they cluster around you. Was pretty impressive for an 8-bit console.

    In the first toon, in the first filmstrip, when the cartoons first lengthened, one stood. He chose the path of perpetual brand recognition. In his ravenous expansion, he found no equal, and with boiling blood, he scoured the legal fields, seeking vengeance against the copyright infringers who had wronged him. And those that tasted the bite of his Keyblade named him…the Goof Slayer.

    Puggsy was one of my favourite games on Amiga growing up, I was always fascinated by the unexpected depth and cleverness (especially in the world of platformers!) of the object interaction system, I would love to learn more about how it was implemented and especially if those act/react triggers were hardcoded in each level or if you had implemented some sort of scripting system for the trigger logic.

    Given how Zero Tolerance performs on the genesis as a shipping rom, the performance on your Disney DOOM segment is incredible. Even better than what we got from the actual DOOM for 32x.

      It's far far simpler than DOOM though, it's essentially wolfenstein 3d, which can run fine on genesis.

    Oh, that's awesome, you basically did the PS1 Megaman X style tilted perspective floor sprites, but then had them skew. The spiral stair stages in the X games really could have benefitted from that trick.
    What you had was basically a whole console generation of 2D graphic design ahead of its time.

    • @SteveBrandon
      @SteveBrandon 3 года назад

      I don't think Roy Disney would've approved more Fantasia on the Genesis considering how he made Sega withdraw the previous Genesis Fantasia game from circulation although, now that you've mentioned it, I wonder what a Fantasia Genesis game developed by Traveller's Tales instead of Infogrames would've been like. Probably a much more playable game than the Genesis Fantasia game we actually got.
