- Whenever my autistic nonverbal son gets an intense feeling,wether it be happy,sad,excited,mad he feels that emotion intently.. which I think causes him to get an overwhelming feeling that he releases by biting himself. We try to redirect his biting to a chewy instead of his hand. Some days it works other days he bites his a lot.

My son wasn't really biting himself, but like chewing on himself...is that the same thing 💁 lol. He was chewing around at his finger tips. They looked like a tiny mouse attacked them in his sleep.
He knew what he was doing wasn't good, because I would walk in the room, and he would quickly shove his hands under something. I think he finally stopped because he was tired of me putting bandaids on his fingers. He keeps hair ties on his wrists now....he likes to fidget with them and snaps them when he gets upset. A lot better than hitting stuff or hurting himself ❤

I don’t know what’s going on but the screen is all black and I can’t see anything anymore
I get cold brew with heavy cream, I like to add cinnamon to it. Yes my daughter has been known to bite her hands too. It’s so hard. It seems to come in cycles. We have redirected with the chewy and with a lot of talking about. She now says no biting that hurts cause I think she’s telling herself that as a reminder. She is verbal but with a large deficit so communication is still difficult.
I think Christian knows as well. I’ll say use the chewy or sometimes just a look and hell stop but when he bites it’s hard and fast at times 😔

I used to keep gloves on his hands. That helped.
I have seen a few places have some sensory ones but my son doesn’t leave anything on his hands 😩
I wonder if him biting his hands and his more frequent hand tapping are related, does he have bongo drums he can use when he is in the car or chilling in his room?
No but i should get him some! There may be a connection. Hand taping hand biting ,xtra hand flapping. We just have a practice training drum pad that makes no sound so it defeats the purpose 😔

My son just started biting himself. I didn’t realized it until one day I was washing his hands and he had bite marks on his hand. I hope he stops soon too.
I didn’t realize how bad my sons hands are until recently. He literally had hard callus on them from how much he bites them. 😔
@@ROCKNSTIMS oh wow. That’s bad! I guess with my son he does it when he’s angry too. Like today I wanted to take a picture of him and he hates taking pics so he started biting himself. I really hope these boys get a handle on it especially your son.
