    I hate that the big box stores don’t do better with supplies for OUR seasons... they are cutting way back on garden supplies, just when we’re getting INTO our best growing season here in south Florida.

      omg yes I wish that would change in florida's stores. And in spring they put things that it's way too hot for like strawberries and lavender, I made the mistake of buying them when I was a beginner.

      You do what and when you can 😄 And there are so many things that are great to plant in fall... if you are thinking of growing from seed, you can start cold weather crops as early as October. 🥰

    Celebrity has become my favorite tomato variety. I grow them in pots and they produce the most tomatoes.

    We are in Lee County and just establishing our first vegetable beds ever; focused on native pollinators and fruit trees first this summer. So of course the same week we have tomato, radishes, kale, and chard seedlings barely peeking up a hurricane is set to drown the yard, lol. Gardening in Florida sure isn't boring!

    Just a little update on the weather, I'm sure you know. We will be getting a storm coming through Florida somewhere between Naples fort Myers Tampa or above. I live in Central Florida above Orlando, we are not being left out of this one so far. We'll see there's so many variations in which direction this evil destruction fury LOL is going to go. I'm just giving heads up to everyone just in case someone may not know. Have a wonderful day :-)

    Moments like this, I'm glad to have a container garden. I managed to save my pepper plants that were still producing(planted late in season last yr) and moved the rest of my container plants to the patio for shelter. I would've been VERY VERY disappointed if they had all drowned. Especially the jasmine plant I managed to save last yr.

    I am adding mulch to the yard because of you. I got two chip drop loads. The front yard is done. It’s not all wood chips but huge patches. I never water any part of the yard. The back I am currently working on getting the second load out down by my new fruit trees. Thank you for your inspiration

      It's all about timing and convenience for the tree service company, mostly whether they are trimming in your area or not.

    You definitely have a better selection of starts - they noticeably removed a row and a half in my Home Depot. We have mostly peppers, herbs and a few “patio” tomatoes.

    I've learned some radishes taste sweeter than others. And if they have some cool weather they all, at least the ones I've grown, taste better.

      Wait until the storm passes. 🙃 I wouldn’t put the effort until you are either sure you aren’t going to get hit or the hurricane passes. Even if you don’t take a direct hit, the deluge we are going to get across the state will be a lot.

    The heatmaster is good plant and producer. Takes the heat better. I am going to lowes and get some...the little Binge is one of my favorites. Small compact but Great contiuos harvest. Sweet cherry..

    Everyone is saying we are getting a hurricane on Tuesday. Some of the seeds I planted went south too. I was kind of glad to hear it wasn't just me. I was going to plant more seeds too. Think I might but in pots lol.

    I REALLY want to get my Fall garden started! I have tomato starts in my house that need to go outside. My summer garden has been cleared away and the grow bags are all ready with fertilizer, worm castings, etc.. BUT, now Hurricane Ian is heading this way (Central Florida). So, I'll wait another week with fingers crossed.

    Last year the frost killed 5 months of tomato growth. The recent rain has killed everything else. I will only garden between October and may.

    If you don’t like raw radishes try roasting them. I don’t like them raw but I cut them in four pieces and roast them with olive oil, salt and pepper and they are great, taste so different.

    You can separate many plants in a pot by submerging in water to soften the soil. It will be very easy the separation, without root damage. Love your channel and the enthusiasm you feel for gardening. God bless you.

    I live in Central Florida. I've just shopped at a family owned nursery and Lowe's and the majority of the herbs and vegetable plants are $10 and up. Not a break at all. I'm going to try by seed and see how things go. Myself I've been waiting for the weather to get out of the low 90s. I have had hardly any success at all during the summer. I'll wait until the hurricane threat goes by for next week on September 28th Wednesday.

    I’m pretty sure Celebrity was the tomato I grew last year and loved. Low maintenance and the flavor and texture was great. I bought a start then but have two I’m now growing from seed this year that are too small to go out still. Hope it works well for you.

    The rain has been incredible. I did lose my yellow squash but everything else has survived. (not that it loved it) I was thinking of buying a couple pepper plants only because slugs keep decapitating my baby transplants.

    Should try the Daikon Radish. Actually if you swish the whole tomato plant in water remove the dirt and then you can separate them much easier. that's how i do it. it works great.

    The only Lowes starts that do well in my garden are the cabbage and collards. I’ve had success with a couple pepper starts but more unsuccessful experiences than not.

    I've been told that roasted radishes are very good. I'm allergic to them so can't say for sure.

      They are great to eat. You can slice them thinly and pan fry in butter. They don't even taste like a radish when you do that. Just add your own seasonings. Fyi, they are very low carb too!

      Yes, cooked radishes are very good. The cooking process takes away the bite that radishes tend to have. Cooked radishes are a good potato substitute. I've used them in beef stew instead of potatoes and you could hardly tell they weren't potatoes.

    Well, I will assume in a few days the power will be out for weeks in our E. Central, semi-rural enclave, so I'll have plenty of time to repair and replant our gardens then. I have some really nice peppers and toms in big pots so last minute I will drag them in the barn.

    I'm in eastern Hillsborough and moved into my home 6 months ago. The previous owner neglected her flower beds the last few years and it's been nothing but constant clean out. Every time I get the time and energy to do something, the rain comes and turns them into mud pits! It's such a mess.

    oh, the rain! I totally agree Last Friday, I hit HD, Lowe's, and 2 different Tractor Supply stores, searching for seeds for my fall/winter garden. No seeds to be found. Lowe's had a few starts, but not organic, and with the glaring miracle grow emblem, I just couldn't pull the trigger. Any tips on organic starts/seedlings in our area (also SW FL here 👋🏻)?

    I planted a Bonnie's Heat Master in the spring. Now granted, it was in a container on a balcony, but it didn't do great. The biggest tomato I got was maybe 2" in diameter, and I don't think I got more than 12 tomatoes off the plant before it stopped producing. I won't try that one again, but I hope you have more luck! I'll be interested to see if it does better in the ground for you than it did in the pot for me.

    So, learning about this Florida growing. From the north and I had great gardens. Here, not so much and had given up until I found you! Planted tomatoes in planters, nothing!! Now they have long bottom stalks and pretty good growth on top. Question: can I cut tops somehow and replant?? Also, made the mistake? of planting lavender and although I could not get it to grow in every other spot, it has taken off in my garden. Can I transplant it? How do I trim it to make lush bushes as I really love the smell and want to use it for varied projects. Hope you answer this time as I love your channel but can never get your attention and help!!

    There's some type of organization trying to get people to register your home gardens. Not sure who they are or what they really want so beware. I can't seem to get information as to why that's their business unless for some reason it's the government 🤔.
