Bill FUCKING Murray
+Ronald Johnson Why is it that I don't need the internet to construct that scenario?
Shit. You beat me to the punch
I know that's not your middle name
*****
Well, I guess that is another reason, but just as I read it, it was burned into my brain
i knew 30 seconds into the video that i wanted to post that exact line, and 34 seconds in that someone would have beat me to it. The internet is a wonderful place
"Do you have any regrets?"
"Garfield maybe"
He should regret dressing as a zombie during the apocalypse, too. 😆
Garfield? Are you joking? Not ironic enough for you? And you got to watch it with your kids who have no idea...until much later?
Props to anyone who knows just how true this statement is.
100
Maybe Bill Murray is like a real-life Deadpool, but managed to gain these traits without being infected with magic cancer.
Head canon accepted
Agreed
Wait so our entire world is fictional? Hey writers. Can I have super powers?
☝😦 ("Wayde Wilson was a sarcastic guy before the mutation.")

("NEEEEEERRRRRD!")- 😲
+Dave Marx But he didn't have his wall breaking abilities. (I'm pretty sure....)
Love Bill Murray. He's almost the "good guy" version of the Joker.
Holy crap, youre right dude! I totally get what you mean, its like a "you think I'm a guy with a plan?" but in a positive way.
Definitely Chaotic Good
In a few words: Bill Murray is the "I don't care" guy, but with a lot more style.
But mastering the art of not seeming like he wants you to think he doesn't care.
he has a rich film career which means he went to a ton of auditions and actively sought work. don't delude yourself that you can achieve anything by not giving a fuck. Bill Murray works hard and clearly gives a general fuck about life
My statement was actually meant as a huge compliment. He is a badass actor who simply doesn't give a fuck.
+El Rocky Raccoon I know. my comment is a bit too negative now that I reread it. I meant that "not giving a fuck" is actually highly maintained facade (the Italians call it sprazaturra) and people who look effortless and not giving a fuck are actually the hard working people. people who actually don't give a fuck are usually unemployed and wake & bake (I love weed but I must admit most stoners are lazy cunts).
or maybe just the stoners you know.
reality is a joke.
This.
***** that
These.
+DontWorry I'llWait that too
those
Bill Murray is my spirit animal.
Lucky
I just have Arnold Schwarzenegger
Visited me in a dream once and refuses to go away
Can you imagine the guy that has Wilfred Brimley as his spirit animal? ;D
hahahahaha!!! x'D
He lectures me about me about the sugar content of what I eat and diabetes. It wouldn't be so bad but he lets his horse shit wherever it pleases.
He is basically a more mello Deadpool.

Yes, but get Nicolas Cage to do the narration.

"You must tackle life in a slightly jokey way, otherwise you miss its point."
Bill Murray plays Bill Murray in every movie Bill Murray is in
Bill Murray plays Bill Murray who's playing actor roles.
i think Bill is the patriarch of trolling, everything that he does has that hint of a perfect troll, but he does it so gracefully and perfected the technique so damn well that most people don't even realize
Graceful trolling, maybe. But as far as straight up troll goes the granddaddy of that would be Andy Kaufman
troll is just a word
I finally get it, Bill Murray is an absurdist, like camus.
but i think he acknowledges the absurdity of reality and finds peace and joy in it. he realizes his life is absurd and the surrounding experiences that he moves through and so he is able to distance himself from it almost like he is above the absurdity.
no, he's the personification of dank memes
I hate this, but I can't disagree
The only thing absurd is comparing the likes of Bill Murray to the legendary Groucho Marx. Murray's lack of enthusiasm and effort is being mistaken for artistic expression. He will be remembered for Ghostbusters, a film that was memorable in its own right and could have survived without his mild responses to anything remotely consequential to his character.
dcruz453 Or he could be remembered for lost in translation. either way murray is a legend in hollywood and his acting is great.
I got a "no one will ever believe you" Bill moment at an airport in Alberta.
Basically we had a conversation where he said he could take all my stuff and no one would ever believe me if I tried to say so. Then shit got real (this is paraphrased because I can't remember the word for word exchange):
Bill: "Yeah, I could just take your stuff. Done". (exact words)
Me: "Why don't you"?
Bill: "I probably have cooler stuff than you". (exact words)
Me: "Yeah... I guess".
Bill: "A thief with little power in the world wants your stuff and mine. But he has to grab it and run. I could just snag it and walk away no problem. The thief needs your stuff and can't get it easily. I don't need or want your stuff and I can have it easily. The more power you have, the more you realize there's nothing to spend it on". (paraphrase)
Me: "So we only want it because we can't have it"?
Bill: "Do you want to tell anyone this conversation happened"? (paraphrase)
Me: "Yes".
Bill: "Think you will"? (exact words)
Me: "If I can be anonymous, maybe".
Bill: "Good plan; you can't tell anyone about this because you'll be a liar and no one likes liars. But you want to tell people because everyone likes people who have met Bill Murray".
Me: "Only you could get away with saying that and not be pompous".
Bill: "I think you still don't see your problem".
After that, he just walked away. Black/grey long and heavy coat, four buttons visible on the front, no scarf, sort of leather looking shoulder covers, hands never left his coat pockets. a smaller grey jacket underneath.
I still don't understand the story. The real knife twister is; I can't tell anyone about it so I can never get help to figure it out.
It's a nice story and all
🤣
Where can I study more of the G.I. Gurd Jieff method of living as discussed @4:24? that seems like how i want to live my life
I'd say Google is a good place to start.
That is exactly what I am thinking
Google it... ?
Here's a start, I guess.. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Gurdjieff
Search OSHO & gurdgieff together
Bill Murray is a national treasure.
bill Murry is a God
Don't know about Murry. Murray is pretty cool though
What sort of God?
I'd watch a movie where Bill Murry is a god.
Bill Murray IS God
Mark Burgess
It's Not that, I Always add caps accidentally When I'm tired.
I remember a Siskel and Ebert review of Stripes in Bill's early career where one of them remarked what makes Bill Murray so fun to watch is he seems like the typical funny guy in the back of a theater that adds his own punch lines to the movie was somehow transplanted to star in the movie.
I think Bill Murray simply acknowledges the absurd around him and says "Okay, I can do that".
Great video and great channel! You guys should do Gary Busey!
Anyone here watched Lost in Translation?
Amazing film, in my top 5
Make it Santori time.
Yes! Loved it!
me! great movie by the way :-)
Omg I love that movie! I loved how the translator translated for the Director. XD
hahaha, yeah man. Lost in Translation, Broken Flowers. Life is just an inside joke for a straight man while he breaks his way out of prison. Thanks Bill

still pushing it at 65, like he didn't have the most amazing life leading to this point.
very Taoistic approach, Bill gets it.

WTF IS THIS
Wesley Willis is a god. I'm quite disappointed that this video failed to acknowledge him
im glad im not the only who recognized the music xD
why can you neither get the spelling nor pronounciation of berthold brecht right?
The Tao of Bill...
has the notion that bill murrey is simply cray crossed anyones mind?
Of course he's crazy. It'd be crazy not to be crazy.
Yes
unless he accepts me as his lord and savoir
Luke NineteenTwentyseven Got my name from Exodus33.17 I don't think Murray will submit. You'll have to slay him.
knowsmebyname i use my name to remind ppl that despite all this shit with islam, cChristianity is still a threat.
Bill Murray: The only man to survive a round house kick to the face from Chuck Norris and turn it into a joke...
There is no one better at playing a guy with an attitude of: I don’t give a crap about anything than Bill Murray. An absolute treasure
let's do the philosophy of Hunter S. Thompson please?
Yes, Bill Murray is one of if not the ultimate artist. This is because he realizes that it is his job, his mission to go out there as far as possible but unlike many great artists he is working or conscious of coming back. All artists can learn from this; it is not how far you can go, it is the ability to come back that counts. Artists need to show it is okay to go out, far out because it is possible to come back, maybe not all the way back but back to a place of stability that can once again pivot and take a turn to once again explore.
I've been aloof and practicing the sly man all my life and I didn't even know it
I like the guy for his honesty and and sincere attempt at simplicity of life (Being In The Moment) Great comedian as he can see things differently than most and embraces the ironic. I studied Gurdjief for many years and feel that the application of the Fourth Way's methods make me a better person. P.D.Ouspensky really helped to make Mr Gurjief's teachings much more understandable and practical for Western Man.
@The Bandog The funny thing is that if he said yes, no one would ever believe.
Let's hope Ghostbusters (2016) doesn't make Bill Murray suck.
how? he'[s not even in it.
*Apparently*, he has a cameo.
+angrybrony I heard the cast from the original movies are doing contractually obligated cameos.
I can't wait to see Harold Ramis' via Ouija board.
Don't be too hard. He is probably being paid more than any of us will make in a decade for the cameo.
It's all a joke... And that is the enlightenment. ;)
Bill is one those actors who you like more for his character than for his acting.
I'm aware that the music at the beginning of the video is one of those Casio Keyboard's default tunes, but all I can think about when I hear it is Wesley Willis.
Rock over London, rock over Chicago. Napa, its the parts store.
Birdman pistol whipped my behind.
they don't just sound like Wesley Willis songs, they are Wesley Willis songs. Little Caesar's, pizza! pizza!
Scrolled down just to find this comment. You're definitely not the only one that had Wesley's golden pipes ringing in their ears when you heard that Casio come in. Hell of a throwback.
I'm glad somebody fucking pointed that out.
This whole video in one sentence:
Bill Murray is the world's most lovable troll.
The Philosophy of Pink Floyd!!!!!! PLEASE
I can't explain it. I fucking love this man!!
Bill Murray rocks. Read his book about golf, "Cinderella Story."
huh, I'm early...I have no idea what I should do.
ikr
Watch the video maybe?
Apologize to your lady and think about baseball next time.
Don't worry, it happens to a lot of guys. I mean not me, but that's what I've HEARD.
We can see the time right here..
Great video, close to the level of the nerdwriter and everyframeapainting!
Wesley Willis used that first bit of music for at least 50 of his songs.
You are a goofball movie star
You are a good guy to the max
You make us laugh off our chair
You have your own style

Any dudeists out there? Ain't good ole' Bill Murray be kinda the Ultimate Dude?
Bill Murray is the best human who ever lived

That accolade is taken by me.
Everything I Have Ever Learned, I Learned from the Internet ! ... I'm 62 ! ... I Was Totally Ignorant until 1995 !!
hi
Garfield
My aunt and uncle used to play golf with him in Martha's Vinyard, he's a good family friend
Bill Murray has been my hero for a couple months now. My school went on a trip to a book store where we were allowed to get one book for the school and one for ourselves. I meandered around a bit, then stumbled upon "The Big Bad Book of Bill Murray". This book gives an A to Z description of everything important in his life. It is the greatest thing I have ever read. If you think this video is amazing, you should read this book. This man has done more than you could possibly imagine. He named his dog bark for fuck sake! How awesome is that?!
😂😂😂😂 he named his do what ? I'm buying the book.
Bill Murray lost the Best Actor Oscar to Sean Penn. He was robbed
Fuck yeah. Wesley Willis!!
I don't doubt that Bill Murray or Larry David and their like are funny people. But I definitely do think there is a cult of personality around them that makes them seem more funny than they actually are. It begins with people thinking "Oh, that's Bill Murray, everyone says he's funny, therefore literally everything he does is funny."
He's one of those few people where his name describes the type of humor he does. Sarcasm, irony, facetiousness, lots of people do those things. But only Bill Murray Bill Murrays.
@Anthony Visco Well said my friend.
embrace it, its all a joke anyways
Mandu I avoided his movies because of his strange (to me) face. But after watching his work and interviews, I am now convinced that he is different than Larry or any other man on earth. He accepts the truth unlike anyone.
He's like if the Joker was a good guy
“Conscious faith is freedom. Emotional faith is slavery. Mechanical faith is foolishness.”
~ G.I. Gurdjieff
Bill Murray has money, time, and nothing else to do. It's that simple.
No, it is not. Many people have money, time, and nothing else to do, and yet almost no one acts like Bill Murray. I mean acts as in how he behaves. He could be on yachts or villas or any number of things which are common from rich and famous people do, but he does not. The video literally talked about this.
+Loathomar Common for other rich people, not Bill Murray. That's it. if Bill Murray wasn't rich, would he take a taxi to San Francisco and drive while cabbie practices his saxophone? Crashing private parties without negative consequences? Sorry, only with fame.
Achilles Well ya, if someone who was not Bill Murray did the things he did there would clearly be negative consequences. His fame and money allow him to do what he does without negative consequences, but money, time, and nothing else to do, doesn't really explain him, so it is not that simple.
Achilles: So does Trump (well, apart from time he spends playing golf), and yet I see few people who are "happy" to see him or think he's witty...... And, we could make a HUGE list of all the people who meet your criteria, yet I don't see a single "Bill Murray" among them.
So sad that you're jealous of how popular Bill Murray is....
A video about 'The philosophy of Robert Downey Jr' would be a great watch.
Bill Murray is the absolute King of I Don't GAS .....
Followed closely by Vince Vaughn ......
this can all be traced back to one work of fiction that Bill Murray fought tooth and nail to bring the second incarnation of to the big screen. the movie that i am pretty sure he wrote and directed "The Razors Edge." originally by W. Somerset Maugham
Shame you didn't mention how there's a younger actor around who just might be as perfect in this type of humour as Murray is. He's a British actor, best known (for me) from his TV sitcom "Black Books" - Dylan Moran.
Good catch
WOOO DYLAN MORAN
He's Irish, though Black Books and Bill Bailey are British, I'll give you that
Sean Wragg Yeah, sorry, realized that as soon as I posted my comment.
+Pan Rysownik Ogrywa It's cool. Love that show as well ;)
I thank you very much for this. I have enjoyed it a lot.
The 4th way is da bomb.
What really capture the essence of Murray for me is his monologue in Tootsie; it goes something like
""I don’t want a full house at the Winter Garden. I want people who just came out of the worst rainstorm in history. These are people who are alive on the planet… until they dry off. I wish I had a theater that was only open when it rained,"
That really encapsulates this feelings of homelessness - the futility of trying to achieve a personal connection with strangers.
I regret that I took the time to watch this.
Neato
my thoughts on this comment
screamed the stable boy
My DICK!
So little love for What About Bob :(
He shouldve got an Oscar for that one.
Gimme gimme... I need I NEED!
"All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players". Must be a beautiful life with this present in the mind.
Simple answer: he's the best.
I was on a golf course 30 years ago and Bill Murray was there. He and a friend got paired up with a couple of teen-aged kids. During the round one of the kids flew the green with his approach shot and it rolled into the parking lot. Murray walked up and peered toward the lot and in his Carl Spackler voice quipped " I think it rolled under that Buick over there".
Do "The Philosophy of Donald Trump"
Actually, Gurdjieff died one year before Murray's birthday. However, he could possibly met Gurdjieff's student, Jeanne de Salzmann.
I am neighbors with Bill, I just showed him this and he scoffed, "they couldn't be more wrong... where do they come up with this crap?" true story...
Lies
lol bs
like dave chappelle says who the fuck knows?
Noone will ever believe you
Your joke went over every ones head who commented clearly they don't understand Bill Murray's sense of humor lol
Gurdjieff spoke of many things, one of which was our imagination and spoke of mankind as essentially being asleep, we sift through our imagination every day, we chew over thoughts and images aka to ruminate, this, is part of why we are unconscious. Yes the imagination is important, especially for people like Bill Murray and other artists, but then comes the negative aspect of it, and we're back to square one. So we have to notice when we're daydreaming, and how we're feeling. So I'm not surprised to hear that Bill Murray is into Gurdjieff, because he's always seemed unique and unconventional.
Murray is great. Groundhog Day is one of my favorite movies. I've watched it over and over and over.
Bill Murray is a creature unto his own. Groundhog Day forever (literally). Great vid!
Philosophy of Nicolas Cage... That is all.
Its more than simply his apathetic detachment that makes his characters fascinating - its the fact that he manages to become active in his role only when he chooses too. When it really matters. When something has clearly affected him. He interacts with a deliberate and disarming awkwardness that makes his lines seem heartfelt and almost unscripted. Its a style more often seen in British comedy, where being "Unprofessional" among professionals marks you out as the true hero - the guy who cant keep it together, or doesnt want to bother, but tries anyway. (See The Life of Brian, Shaun of the Dead, or even Mr Bean).
Not one reference to What About Bob? Unsubscribed.
At my local hollywood palms when it opened they did a showing of what about bob. Richard Dreyfuss was there. He dodged questions about "what was it like to work with Bill Murray" or seemed rather irked about the whole thing. Possibly because of how distanced Murray was from the seriousness of Dreyfuss' own rigid acting method. It was fucking hilarious when he started going on some rant about the government not being taught to children in schools. Long story short they must have some sort of beef with each other which makes What About Bob? even more special to me.
Civics should be taught in school. The reason it isn't is so when these students become adults they won't have any idea how our government works and will be far, far less likely to participate in the process thus making controlling the masses all that much easier. I really don't understand why you would think not teaching that to our children a bad thing or something to be scoffed at. We are going to hell in a hand basket, and most people are greasing the skids. If that's case (and it is) we deserve everything we get.
***** I completely understand that it's an issue he's passionate about, and why shouldn't he use that spotlight to call attention to the issue. But he did this in Naperville, Illinois, quoting Wikipedia here "Naperville was voted the second-best place to live in the United States by Money magazine in 2006" there are some of the highest funded school districts here, and US government is a required course in our high school curricula. So it didn't really make sense to be preaching this in that location. On top of that the awkwardness beforehand of him apparently despising Bill Murray.
those poor rich white kids of Naperville.... www.naperville.il.us/about-naperville/demographics-and-key-facts/
Naperville should be the norm for ALL school districts/income demographics for the entire country. Rather than throw stones at what should be happening everywhere, we should throw stones at the overwhelming majority of the country that this isn't happening. I've noticed that people condemn the good, rather than direct that condemnation where it belongs. It's comparable to the trend in this country that embraces ignorance while disparaging intelligence.
That’s why we love Bill Murray.
Murraycane as Aykroyd calls him...🥂
Can you please make a "Philosophy of Shia Labeouf"? I think it is well needed and would be very interesting.
" .....on your death bed you will recessive total conciseness.... So I got that going for me."
A little disappointed you did not mention his character in The Razor's Edge absolutely one of my favorite Bill Murray roles because he was an unlikely choice and he totally stuck it it didn't do well in the box office it was a fantastic movie nevertheless critics suck and most people are empty vessels Bill Murray is a riot
tim heidecker took the idea of bill murray acting into a dadaist self detatchment where the actor himself does know he is creating meaning out of something but not always aware where the meaning will go or what the audience or even himself will want it to be.
eric andre does the bill murray sarcasm and detatchment through editing and decisions that are beyond the audience's awareness of self, creating havoc and confusion for everyone including himself. he plays the part of cthulu wearing a top hat singing "hello my baby" while stomping orphans to death into a mush used that will feed the hungry children of the world.
Quick, write something about what we all just saw.
You're special.
I would love to sit down with Bill have some booze of his choice and just talk about life, he strikes me like an approachable, down to earth, kind of guy.
now, i understand why we got _Ghostbusters (2016)_...
Bill fucking Murray and music by Wesley Willis! Just awesome
I did NOT expect Gurdjieff to turn up in this, kudos Wiscrack
Spoilers: Bill Murray is the second coming of the Christ
He's the master of the cosmic joke.
Thanks for all the love ❤and support. Seriously blown away by the love from all of you.thank you
@@billmurry665 imagine this was actually bill murray, and we’re all just too stupid to take this account seriously.
Bill Murray is an icon, everyone knows who he is. He instantly stands out as being different, because he is. He is completely in the moment and transcends the norm. He isn't like anyone else because he doesn't react like anyone else, he somehow sees everything in a different light.
It would be interesting if we all did this. There would be no expectation because there would be nothing to expect. If we all lived in the moment, everything would be a surprise, we would never know what was coming next. Every second of every minute would be an adventure.
Rock on Bill Murray. Keep doing you. Perhaps someday we'll all learn to do the same.
i havent seen very many of his movies, but in lost in translation and moonrise kingdom his characters dont seem ironic, just kind of exhausted and sad, with a sense of humor that he only chooses not to utilize. it's a character unique to murray for sure but in lost in translation he feels genuine
bill murray might not have an agent, but he has the best pr team in hollywood. nobody remembers when he was accused of beating his wife.
I suspect it's both after all if he's using irony to enlighten us what would be more ironic then make it one big joke
Good as I have always wondered why I like him but dont find him that funny.
You didn't mention Bob at all? BUT WHAT ABOUT BOB!?
I wouldn't doubt that he dies this year or early next year..
+Jennifer Montgomery just saying, im preparing for it 😶
