      I’m originally from New Zealand and as a kid remember hunting for Kauri gum using a thin steel rod to probe around in the ground !
      You needed an expert with you to be able to ‘read’ the feel of the gum....I unfortunately was never good enough do it !

    OMG I adore amber. Diamonds do not much for me, too cold. But the warmth and light from amber is for me divine. I proudly own a box of amber jewellery, mostly cheap yellows, artificial green and red. Anyway, I hope they are natural (not plastic fakes) and my dream is to own a white necklace. I also love the mosaic ones, although it's basically amber grains mixed into white resin. But it looks good and quite artistic (even when also artificial). But I adore it and try to catch every exhibition on youtube or wherever. Thanks so much for posting and the playlist, getting right into it. More please.

    I have read in a book (Rutleys elements of mineralogy) that Blue ambers are found in Dominican Republic and they gain colour due to soot particles from contemporary forest fires.
    Can you tell anything more about these or blue ambers in general?
    Loved the video❤

    • @Amberscape
      @Amberscape  7 месяцев назад

      Sure! Dominican blue amber is not actually blue - it becomes blue when you shine bright light at certain angle - while baltic amber "blue" is related to actual certain minetals being in contact with white royal amber - and that blue is real blue without need of strong lights:)

    Wow this is a great video thank you. We have two yellow baltic necklaces. I see other people with 'amber' necklaces and I wonder if they are real. I tried the salt water test on our necklaces and they floated. Tried plastic and went to the bottom. I dont want to sell them. Me and my daughters wear them. I do wonder what it is worth. Because I got them very cheap from someone selling all the necklaces of the grandma. Maybe if its worth a lot I should not let my 4yo wear one everywhere... it is too big for her.

      Hey there, didnt quite understood the question - specifically the "era" part:). You're asking which inclusions are the most rare and expensive in baltic amber? Then it would be hands down lizards , scorpions, gastropods and some rare plant inclusions:). As for isects hmm, i don thave to much experience but scenes kike copulation for moths are extraordinaly rare/expensive. Single most rare insect (not lizard or scorpion) would be probably the flea:), 15-20grand for the flea
