You know what would be interesting in a new Spyro 4/sequel trilogy? If we found out that the Sorcerer/Classic Malafor originally hired the Thieves from the beginning in order to use the power of the dragon eggs to try and escape the Shadow Realm. Granted, this is me working off the new Reignited Trilogy timeline, plus I'm not entirely sure most of the handheld games are canon, the only one technically being Shadow Legacy as a "Spyro 6" using aspects from A Hero's Tail. That means I'm not entirely sure about: - Og: -- Spyro: Season of Ice (Seemingly an alt Spyro 4) -- Spyro 2: Season of Flame (Seemingly an alt Spyro 5) -- Spyro: Attack of the Rhynocs (Seemingly an alt Spyro timeline all together, either 1-3 or ANOTHER alt Spyro 4) -- Spyro Orange: The Cortex Conspiracy (Seemingly as either an alt Spyro 6 or an alt Spyro 4; mentioned as the 4th installment of the games released on the platform, but I don't know if that means as the 4th mainline installment or just the 4th game Boy game) -- Crash Twinsanity (Being not much more than a quick "not really all that celebrated" cameo) - Reignited: -- Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled (Guest racer, unsure how canon the entry is as a whole honestly) -- Crash on the Run (Unsure if even canon to Crash 4 as a sequel or not, hopefully not in my opinion) -- Possibly Crash Team Rumble (Possibly a sequel to Crash 4 due to using the same models but I'm not sure) (Possible guest characters Spyro and MAYBE Ripto, only due to certain symbols appearing in an early promotional image background: a wing for Spyro and possibly Ripto's medallion (granted that's mostly on my end, others have also probably thought of it but I haven't seen anyone bring it up to who else it points to), there's also a leaf who people think points to Elora but I don't know)
It's been too long since I commented on your videos. =D I love this idea, and I can't believe I've never come across this before. You have no idea how much this expands the Lore of Spyro the Dragon for me. Now I imagine that the Thieving Guild is one of the most powerful factions in that world. It reminds me of how in DUNE, the Spacing Guild - responsible for mass interstellar travel - relies on the mining of Spice to make their ability to fold space possible, and this makes them very powerful in the politics of the empire. One thing that happens in that story is they allow one House to bring a massive army to Arrakis to attack a rival House, but they charge a massive fee to ferry said army. So imagine this. Gnasty Gnorc is collecting gems because he owes a massive debt to the Thieving Guild to collect the dragon eggs. Should he fails to do so, the Thieving Guild will come after his Loot, among other things. Another thing to consider is how the thieves are friendly to Spyro when he is in their world. Very rarely do we see Spyro attack someone without justification in the form of hostility in return. Could it be, the Thieving Guild is a Neutral but callous faction and it will appease whoever at the time to maintain its survival? Perhaps the reason we don't see many thieves in Avalar Is due to a certain Bear we know who has monopolized the region. Think about why Moneybags is in Avalar. He said business was getting slow after Spyro left, but what if it was because the Sorceress offered him a better deal. She could be using him to get the gems she needs to settle a score she has with the Thieving Guild potentially. Anyway, this video made me a little excited about the classic games again. Honestly, I've been a pretty big history buff for awhile, so getting to talk about little tidbits of knowledge and give lore in Spyro some context to others is always a treat for me. Big thanks!
I was thinking of how stupid turban’s look after watching videos on the hilarious ilhan omar firing outrage. And then I remembered that these guys rocked them well. I didn’t know there was lore to them tho! Cool vid!
This may sound wierd but in enter the dragonfly there's a lot of levels where everything seems to be way bigger than spyro or the creatures in those worlds. I've always felt like the levels were scaled up to save time and get more gametime out of what they already had or for many different possible reasons. The farm level is the one that made me think about it a long time ago, it's scale never seemed to line up with the npcs or spyro.
Hmm... I'm gonna have to play through Enter the Dragonfly again and see if I notice that, but now that you mention it, the levels did seem pretty big? Wouldn't surprise me if that was true, given everything that happened with development anyway.
I noticed it on a run a few years ago and in the later levels I believe it's very noticeable, like you said development was crazy on this game and I just assumed that's what happened because I can't unsee it now.
You should do a video on the Year of the Dragon next year. It comes every 12 years. The previous Year of the Dragon is in 2012. I don't want to brag but I know a lot of Chinese New Year and Chinese Zodiac tidbits.
