... If ppl are supposed to buy an barc, a phase 1, the essential pack, card pack 1... just let them buy a clone/sep starter .. seems to be of more value to me and allows them to not only play 501 but also regular republic..

Hey there! While that’s a great option, that would actually be a bit more to go about it that way. The core set is up to $120 msrp these days. Plus, all of the items mentioned above have been bundled and discounted to be even lower than normal.
I also actually recommend two barcs rather than one. The core set only includes 1.
At the end of the day, these are just my suggestions for competitive builds at a low entry price, there are definitely lots of other options out there!
