I first heard this song in my teens. I fell in love with his music. It revieves me so much you can just feel the holy spirit in his music every time you hear it.
Carmen lived in my apartment complex, The Falls, in Tulsa, while I attended Rhema, in Broken Arrow. He told me the inspiration for his songs often came from his pastor's sermons, Carlton Pearson. Carlton was a graduate of ORU. Tulsa felt electrified in that era much the way Charlotte feels under Rick Joyner's Ministry today. In fact, Richard Roberts spoke at Morning Star this evening. God's regrouping. The old and the new will come together! Pray for Carlton, who now preaches there's no Hell.
Thank you so much!!! I used to listen to Carmen all the time with my mom...this song was off one of our favorite albums...I get chills when listening to this and pray that everyone feels the same...PRAISE THE LORD!!! HE HAS RISEN!!!
you do not get any better than this Carman doesn't need props, dancers, singers, performers, his words, his delivery, his faith delivers more pure truth and shivers than any thing I've ever heard or seen
Hey I love this video...I have every Carman video on earth...you can feel a powerful anointing on all his work for the Lord and for us, and as we see our need to witness to His glory is becoming greater with every hour, I am grateful for masters of vision like Mr. C...this was one of the first Carman songs I heard...the man had vision, no doubt about that...and for people who are to receive that gift, it will multiply it. Where there IS Vision, the people LIVE! Praise God!
I was in the play as a 12 year old and it taught me a valuable lesson about how Jesus sacrificed his life for others. I love this song more than anything.
just sittin here at the computer, i listen to these songs, and its like the spirit just descends! i mean, i know god's already here with me, but when i watch this stuff, he watches with me, you know? Hallelujah
Dear Believers, I've seen Carman in concert several times..he is incredible. NEVER pass up the opportunity, however, I wanted just to say that of all songs by all Christian groups, I cannot think of one that is more inspirational than The Champion! No matter how many times I hear this, or see the videos, the Holy Spirit leaps within me when Carman says "Oh yes, He's ALIVE!!!" Wow! That is so powerful, so good, and it just wipes me out because its so wonderful. Oh yes HE has WON!
Not only is Carman a great musician, but he's an awesome story teller, thats what makes him so interesting, and why people love listening to him, because he tells a story in his songs, it's quite entertaining.
Carman was the first christian singer I ever listened to. His music was so entertaining, and so different from anything that the industry had ever seen before or since. My only thing is, can somebody tell me what he's doing these days. I ain't seen or heard much of him since he did his Heart of a Champion thing.
Wow! I've never seen Carmen do 'The Champion' live! That's pretty awesome! I had memorized the entire thing when I was a teenager. Thanks for sharing! :) A-mazing! It never seems to lose the anointing that God has given it.
FYI, Carman hasn't sold out anything. His concerts have always been free of charge, though he does take an offering, but it is very true that people are turned away at every show because there simply isn't room for everyone who would like to attend.
This is an oldie, from the 80's. In the 70's and 80's Contemporary Christian Music wasn't big yet. Carmen has a ruff Italian NY style about him. His songs tell a story about God in a really different way. The Champion - The fight of the ages, between God/Yeshua and Satan. Laugh and enjoy!!!!
hey! tanx for the video! I've been looking for it for years. neway, i wanna see a video about the actual boxing, do you have one, or does it exists? tanx carman is awesome! Jesus is the champion!
@scruethedemiurge I'm sorry that you miss the point, but if you were to look into and read the chapter as a whole that discusses it, you'll understand the point of the whole "thinking lustfully equals sin" concept. It goes to explain that we ourselves can't do anything to "earn" us a ticket to Heaven, like most people believe. Most people believe "If I'm a good person, I'll go to Heaven." Not so. Fact is, no matter what, we will always fall short of "earning" a right into Heaven...
i have heard the same ..i believ he had a large financial bnu from soem of the things he did ...he even added secret messages that were deliberately ironic.
Fellow christians(not catholics, they are 2 differet things)there is something called a judgement day. Those who follow will live eternity with The CHAMPION!But those who dont im sorry but the one without the victory belt they will spend time with him.GOD BLESS
The Champion In the vast expanse of a timeless place, Where silence ruled the outer space, Ominously, towering it stood, The symbol of a spirit war Between the one name Lucifer, And the Morning Star, The ultimate of good. Enveloped by a trillion planets, Clean as lightning and hard as granite, A cosmic coliseum would host the end Of the war between the lord of sin and death, And the Omnipotent Creator of man's first breath, Who will decide who forever will be the Champion. The audience for the 'Fight of the Ages' was assembled and in place. The angels came in splendor from a star. The saints that had gone before were there: Jeremiah, Enoch, Job. They were singing the "Song of Zion" on David's harp. The demons arrived, offensive and vile, cursing and blaspheming God. Followed by their 'trophies' dead and gone. Hitler, Napoleon, Pharaoh, Capone, Tormented and vexed and grieved. Waiting for their judgment From the Throne. Then a chill swept through the mammoth crowd and the demons squealed with glee, as a sordid, vulgar, repulsive essence was felt. Arrogantly prancing, hands held high, draped in a sparkling shroud Trolled by demons, Satan ascended from Hell. Then Satan cringed, the sinners groaned! The demons reeled in pain as a swell of power like silent thunder rolled With a surge of light beyond intense, illuminating the universe, In resplendent glory appeared the Son of God. Then a Persona, yes, Extraordinaire appeared in center ring. God the Father will oversee the duel. Opening the Book of Life, each grandstand hushed in awe as majestically He said, "Now here's the rules. He'll be wounded for their transgressions, bruised for iniquities" When He said, "By His stripes they're healed," the devil shook! He screamed, "Sickness is my specialty. I hate that healing junk!" God said, "You shut your face, I wrote the book!" Then the Father looked at His only Son and said, "You know the rules. Your blood will cleanse their sins and calm their fears." Then He pointed His finger at Satan and said, "And I know you know the rules. You've been twisting them to deceive My people for years." Satan screamed, "I'll kill you Christ! You'll never win this fight!" The demons wheezed, "That's right, there ain't no way." Satan jeered, "You're dead meat, Jesus, I'm gonna bust you UP tonight!" Jesus said, "Go ahead, make my day!" The bell rang, the crowd cheered, the fight was on, And the devil leaped in fury. With all his evil tricks he came undone. He threw his jabs of hate and lust. A stab of pride and envy but the hand that knew no sin blocked every one. Forty days and nights they fought, and Satan couldn't touch Him. Now the final blow saved for the final round. Prophetically Christ's hands came down And Satan struck in vengeance! The blow of death felled Jesus to the ground. The devils roared in victory! The saints shocked and perplexed as wounds appeared upon His hands and feet. Then Satan kicked Him in His side, and blood and water flowed. And they waited for the 10 count of defeat. God the Father turned His head, His tears announcing Christ was dead! The 10 count would proclaim the battle's end. Then Satan trembled through his sweat in unexpected horror, yet... As God started to count by saying, "...10..." "Hey wait a minute, God..." "...9..." "Stop! You're counting wrong..." "...8..." His eyes are moving... "...7..." His fingers are twitching... "...6..." He is risen, He is Lord, He has won! He has won! He's alive forevermore, He is risen! He is Lord! Proclaim the news in every tongue, Through endless ages and beyond Let it be voiced from mountains loud and strong Captivity has been set free, salvation bought for you and me 'Cause Satan is defeated, And Jesus is The Champion
Jesus willingly went to the cross .. Jesus went willingly to the cross for JOY. "Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the JOY that was set before Him endured the cross..." Hebrews 12:2.- Luke 22 Matthew 26:39 Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, "My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will."
Wow!! so many memories!!! we used to perform this drama in our church when I was 14, today I am 35 !!! I was Jesus for the drama and my nephew Moreno was Satan....we were in white clothes and satan(Moreno) and his crew were in black with makeup faces as demons/// so nice to preach and tell everyone that Jesus is the Champion!!
So we judge someone because of what we "heard" that can't be proven by anyone. No scandals, but someone heard someone say and so that's the truth. Yeesh!

My only thing is, can somebody tell me what he's doing these days. I ain't seen or heard much of him since he did his Heart of a Champion thing.
Wow!! I remember this set! I remember the t-shirt from the concert... I wore that cassette OUT.
Amazing song. Always sends me chills
I love Carman ever since I first saw him in concert in 2003 or 2004.
Wow! I've never seen Carmen do 'The Champion' live! That's pretty awesome! I had memorized the entire thing when I was a teenager. Thanks for sharing! :) A-mazing! It never seems to lose the anointing that God has given it.

This song came to my mind just before my mother's funeral.
Still just as powerful as the day I witnessed live. AMAZING😍
I saw him tonight and was great!
I just saw your church's video. You played a good part. Nicely done!
FYI, Carman hasn't sold out anything. His concerts have always been free of charge, though he does take an offering, but it is very true that people are turned away at every show because there simply isn't room for everyone who would like to attend.
That still sends tingles down my spine
When I need an extra dose of encouragment I play Carmans cd's, such an inspiration to me.
i like that people put this on you tube

I'm not a Christian, I'm agnostic, but damn if this isn't a great song. Love it.
5:45 is the best part ever!

@RockerDave12 agreed... that is why Carmen says "prophetically, Christ's hands came down"... representing Jesus giving up his life.
@jasonraustin No, that was Andy Serkis, but I see how you could think that. :)
Love it when he say shut your mouth i wrote the Book !!! 👑👑👑👑👑Yeshua The King and Lord Of Lords ❤❤❤ !!!!!
@mightysun1 This song might be THE best song ever written, for that exact reason.
Jesus is & always WILL be the champion.
@ 6:14: Is it just me or is this Gollum speaking? Did Carmen voice Gollum from Lod of the Rings??
what happened to him? he was the 90's, but i haven't heard of anything from him since that one boxing movie in 2000.
we're gonna be dramatizing this song for easter this year...
I wish my church did that.
@TheKennifer #5 JESUS quotes Clint Eastwood, not Arnold :)
Great
U-haaaaaaaaaa! And the winner is...JESUS!
Satan`s place is under our feet!
i have heard the same ..i believ he had a large financial bnu from soem of the things he did ...he even added secret messages that were deliberately ironic.
JESUS CHRIST IS THE CHAMPION
Always a classic! But, who did the closed captioning? None of it made sense.
Fellow christians(not catholics, they are 2 differet things)there is something called a judgement day. Those who follow will live eternity with The CHAMPION!But those who dont im sorry but the one without the victory belt they will spend time with him.GOD BLESS

The Champion
In the vast expanse of a timeless place,
Where silence ruled the outer space,

The symbol of a spirit war
Between the one name Lucifer,

Of the war between the lord of sin and death,

Then a chill swept through the mammoth crowd

as a sordid, vulgar, repulsive essence was felt.
Arrogantly prancing, hands held high, draped
in a sparkling shroud
Trolled by demons, Satan ascended from Hell.

The demons reeled in pain as a swell of power

Then Satan trembled through his sweat in
unexpected horror, yet...
As God started to count by saying,
"...10..."
"Hey wait a minute, God..." "...9..." "Stop!
You're counting wrong..."
"...8..."
His eyes are moving...
"...7..."
His fingers are twitching...

@stevelitchfield my brother, thank for ur beliefs, but not all people wish to kno the truth, even if it is staring them straight in the face.
Only in my loft, I think!
Psalms 22 foretells
So we judge someone because of what we "heard" that can't be proven by anyone. No scandals, but someone heard someone say and so that's the truth. Yeesh!
