    My mom fell off a boat cutting her leg very bad on the trim table. She had skin graphs and they treated her in a hyperbaric chamber to heal her leg. That was back in the early 90s a south miami hospital. It really helped her alot!!

    I’m so proud of Gus for his weight loss. He looks so much healthier. I hope he’s feeling it too. I’d love an episode where he covers it - just some life advice to others with how he did it.

    The best part is, now you can say you're diving with an oxygen tank and Gus can't correct you! I can already feel him seething on the side of the pool lmao

    I really like the idea and the execution, it's also something we explored with my dive buddy. Our approach was still just OC with a deco bottle at 6m.
    As far as I know (managed to find out), in Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy usually 1.5 to 3.0 PPO2 is used in the chamber. And in my understanding 1.5 is a lower limit from where it starts to have more increased benefits as just breathing 100% oxygen on the surface (1 ATA).
    From financial point of view, we can get here oxygen filling for around 10 euros, so "wasting" that 95% gas is sad, but still not that bad and we have no rebreather around (yet).

    Pretty cool to see you do a video on this, and I hope you feel the benefits. I've got a lot of physical problems and chronic pain so have been doing DIY HBOT myself on open circuit. An hour at 1.4 bar ppo2 makes a huge improvement to my neuropathic pain for 4-5 hrs, and hopefully will have a cumulative effect over time. I'm looking to get a simple O2 rebreather to reduce gas costs.

    Very cool! Hope this helps get you on the mend faster, Woody! Sending love and empathy from the UK as a fellow back injury sufferer!
    As a side note, despite saying I wouldn't want to dive because of health concerns, I started imagining how enjoyable it would be to learn to dive - especially from Woody, I really love his vibes, so I actually went and looked up forms for diving fitness - I still think I have too many health issues for it to be a viable option for me, but it was neat to see what's considered a condition that needs further investigation before being allowed to dive. It was fun thinking about the probable reasoning behind why each condition was listed. I hadn't even considered how various forms of neurodivergency might factor in, but after looking at that form, it's given me some cool insights into thoughts and processes behind diving that just hadn't ever really been in my line of thinking. Sometimes, even finding suggestions for no is as exciting as finding a yes answer.

      I'm not experienced in any way at all in any field related to any of this. But I worked as a lifeguard/swim instructor and a LOT of people came into the pool I worked at to just walk around, swim and relax in and said it was amazing for their health. That and a sauna/steam room.

    • @KidarWolf
      @KidarWolf 53 минуты назад

      @@OCinneide I used to love swimming when I was younger, but as I've gotten older, I've gotten more reactive to chlorine, and most of the pools around here are chlorinated. I'd try wild swimming, but with the state of UK water right now with sewage dumps, that seems incredibly ill-advised.

    • @OCinneide
      @OCinneide 36 минут назад

      @@KidarWolf Fair enough. Regulating the chorine when I worked as a lifeguard was a full time job (it was always heading to too high/too low) so any chlorine reactivity yeah, no go.

    So what happens to the nitrogen woody is off gassing? I guess the constant mass flow makes it safe that he won't end up with an n2 loop, but the n2 must go somewhere, and possibly be keeping his po2 down if it's still in the loop.

    As a physician certified in HBOT with many dives behind me, I'm impressed with the video.
    You correctly listed the stuff that HBOT is used for as evidence-based adjunct (or sometimes primary) therapy, without the quackery in Tijuana stuff that sullies the reputation, and gave a great overview of the science of increased PPO2 therapy. (I'm sure you've read about them, but there are a couple of actual in-water DCS treatment protocols out there... Not really practical unless you have a LOT (several hours') of O2 tanks, but kind of cool nonetheless). And you're obviously aware of/mitigate the risks as well.
    I'll be watching your videos with great interest... There are a lot of reports for subjective pain improvements with HBOT, but a lot of them are anecdotal/non controlled/bordering on quackery, so I'm curious to see how you do with it.
    Good luck and get well soon!

      Safe ppO2 is considered 1.6 atm, so 6 meters deep. And it's a value that keeps a good safety margin.
