Maybe they put mounts to move the convertible rear seat and seatbelts forward 2 inches to compensate for the 2 inch floor extension. That way regular stock interior components would not be affected by the extension. But then on assembly they found it was far easier to mount the rear seat in its original position and do some minor interior modifications. Or they planed to add a 2 inch insert to make a deeper rear seat but opted for extra leg room.
