Daniel was really good - liked his willingness to just try stuff even if it was hard (speaking Finnish, swimming at Hietaniemi in winter, scaling Everest). Will go check Nordic Jamiacan now.

Oma Suomi is a great book. I been in Finland for 3 years and I currently studying in Finnish. I also learned Finnish within a year. Currently I’m studying in Finnish ( B1 taso)
Your friend speaks beautiful Finnish!!!! In just a couple of years! I'm in awe. Finnish was my first language as a Finnish Canadian, and at almost 70 yrs, I'm still trying to relearn. Ihana! Hyvin tehty!
Yes I was so impressed, he really put his mind into learning it! And wow, you're amazing! Keep going, it'll come back to you I'm sure :) Kiitos paljon!
Hey Kat! I have a video request/recommendation. As an English speaker I find a very hard time hearing and sounding out the difference between “y” and “u.” Could you make a video incorporating this topic. Or continuing your vowel series videos for “y” “u” “ö”? Thank you so much, you’re a huge help!
Hat's off to the Jamaican guy. I think the Finnish language can be used as a sisu-test. If you ain't got it, you ain't gonna learn. Luja tahto vie läpi harmaan kiven...
@@pahis1248 Yes, seeing as how it's one of the most difficult and awkward languages on the planet. If you want to learn it, you have to be very persistent. Never give up. Sisu! It is so frustrating, you have no idea... With the name you have I'm gonna guess that you're a native Finnish speaker. You don't know, my man. You simply do not understand. Best analogy I can give you is this; try speaking backwards.....

Thanks. I actually never used that book at all during my process of learning. I've looked inside of it but never used it as a tool.

Danielille pitää nostaa hattua. Kielioppi ja ääntäminen ovat hämmästyttävän hyvin hallussa lyhyen opiskelun jälkeen.
I don't know where to start as far as learning Finnish. I'm moving to Helsinki in a year from Washington DC.
Paljon onneä Daniel.
