stop asking me to make videos about ever after high. same with the winx club. no ifs, ands, or buts about it. i have said numerous times i dont care to watch, so quit trying to change my mind.
i make it clear what my niche is. literally say what it is in the beginning of my videos: nostalgia, family, and children’s entertainment. When i say nostalgia, that means nothing in the older demographic past the year of 2015 (because that is nostalgic for me)
so stop asking me to review these live action teen series on netflix like ginny and georgia, outer banks, and never have a ever.
yes, every once and a while i talk about something outside of my niche if i really want to, but i mainly put that content on my patreon.
i don’t do this all the time because i don't want to take away from the focus on my channel. like i did when i talked about don't toy with me miss nagatoro, and when cassie howard pissed me off and i included her in that white women tears videos. when i make these videos you guys keep getting on me to talk about things outside my niche.
and no, i will not make a second channel to talk about these things.
im going to stop putting these videos out publicly all together and just put them on patreon if you guys wont understand that.

I work at a movie theater and fans of certain franchises be stanking so I’m not surprised they come to conventions not washing or wearing deodorant

I saw the last jedi in 2017 and ooohhhh it STANK in the theater
Sometimes I get a little hesitant about criticizing people's hygiene since I don't know what their economic situation is, whether they even have running water and stuff like that, but I figure anyone who can afford the costs of going to a convention (not just entry but for lodging, food, and merchandise) can certainly afford hot water and soap, even at home.
Another worry of mine is about neurodivergent people, if some folks may have some sensory issues or who struggle with self-care. I can't really speak to how people with these kinds of issues could resolve their needs.
When people organizing/hosting the conventions have to tape posters to the door that says please be courteous of your fellow con goers and take a shower that’s when you know it’s bad.
Both times I went to my local convention every time I went to the dealer haul it stunk to high heavens. I don’t get why it’s so hard for people either the night before or literal hours before the convention starts to take a shower and properly clean themselves, brush their teeth, and put on deodorant before they walk out the door.
I swear a lot of these nerds put more effort into picking out the perfect shirt to wear at the convention than they do with their personal hygiene.
I honestly never had smelt “con stank” even when I get up close to take selfies with cosplayers.
The worst it got was this person who was wearing 30 layers of axe.

Also, antibacterial soap. Not everyday but on con days in the problem areas. A tip from long college orchestra days in cheap tuxedos.
some gentle salicylic face wash in the armpits does wonders in reducing the smell. definitely great if you know your going to be sweating.
I always carry a deodorant in my purse just in case. I'm super self conscious so idk how people out here stinkin

I grew up around people who didn’t shower much. They’d regularly go a week w/o showering…
If you’re not raised to have the habit, I think you don’t notice/don’t know where to start.
And then ppl grow shame about it. Ppl have shame about their bodies, taking care of their bodies, and maintaining routines.
The ppl need a con hygiene tutorial! Demystify the destanking.
TBH I learned personal hygiene from a RUclips video in high school. I didn’t have older women in my life telling me this stuff.
But I knew I wasn’t fitting in. I learned hygiene bc of peer pressure. I got really obsessed w/ being “clean” for a while.
When I was older I saw that hygiene was something I could do for *me*. That caring for myself felt good. Not just something to make others tolerate being around me.
The only way fandoms will commit to hygiene is if the companies makes some cringey waifu or husbandu telling everyone to bathe regularly or make a cringe meme about hygiene

I would advise folks to steer clear of fragrances if you can't properly clean up a little. It tends to just add to the stank cocktail.
oh and don't get me started on concerts too bc it's just as bad. like can ya'll pls wear deodorant. I'll never forget at this one show I went to the whole front section was stanky bc this one person even the artist performing said something.

It also needs to be said that some of the HOSTS need schooling about hygiene! Years ago, I went to a con, and one of its main hosts was friendly, hospitable and helpful BUT this person smelled like a barn! No joke. I could barely breathe around this person who stank so MUCH ! Seriously, if you're going to be dealing with the public, shower/bathe the night/morning before!

Honestly I feel kinda bad for these people. To have no one in your life who cares enough to say, "you stink". Or whatever the polite version of that is.
At a Yu-Gi-Oh tournament my brother went to, the staff were just going around with a Glade spraying people that stank, if it didn't work to stop the smell at least they were so embarrased they would get out and think about doing something for it
Literally just came back from SDCC and some of those mfs smelled like they came straight out of the sewers. My nose still has PTSD.
That's really disturbing and horrific how they could smell like farts and shit.

Nahh, some of these people really need to freshen up. I get falling on hard times but there are easy solutions. The amount of stories of this topic is crazy
Not even started the video and the memory of at least two of my con roomies not bathing once came to mind...I showered at least twice that weekend. And one of them dressed as Thorin Oakenshield for the entire convention in Atlanta heat. They looked amazing but as the convention went on they were rank.
So yeah...my friend and I added to our convention rules that everyone that wants to room with us is required to bathe or shower at least once or no deal.
You can also put dress shields (they are like armpit pads to soak up sweat) in your costumes if it's difficult to wash the armpit (due to type of fabric ect). You can snip out the dress shield and sew in new ones for the next day.
I always put on deodorant and Colouge when I go to a convention, Britney kabosuki commented that I smell good when I gave her a hug at a convention back in 2019.
Harry was either standing behind a riddler cosplayer, a croc cosplayer, a clayface cosplayer or just a booster gold cosplayer

I mean...I understand sweating, but there's a fine line between that and not taking showers. O_O
I think the spray paint smell might’ve blocked out the stank for me. When I went to con’s I never noticed it but I don’t doubt this happens!! I showered every day at SacAnime!

I used to go to A-Kon in Dallas and lemme tell you, the stink was REAL and it was real BAD. I have always been avid about showering and keeping clean and going to conventions was usually such a slap in the face to my senses. I wish more people cared about keeping clean!
I always dreaded taking pictures with people who wanted pics with me when I was in cosplay because of how badly they tended to smell.
EDIT: I was thinking about this more and the only conventions I’ve been to that I don’t recall most people stinking to high heaven were horror conventions. One that I went to had a even had a long line at a booth that sold soap and other bath products. Shout out to horror fans for not stinking!
I can't believe we as con goers still have to talk about personal hygiene! 😭It has been so many years...generations have passed and this is still a thing LOL. I am so aware of my body odor, if I smell myself I KNOW someone can smell me and I become self-conscious about it. I cannot go out in public without freshening up.
For anyone reading who needs tips:
1. Please shower
2. Use perfume/cologne/body spray if you can. Even if you don't think you smell.
3. Wear deodorant
4. Pack body wipes for extra sweat
5. Bring extra undergarments and/or wash your laundry
6. Brush your teeth too!

Yes! The never ending struggle. A lot of these people that smell bad at conventions smell bad on day 1. That means they don't shower enough in their regular life.
I’m thankful that everyone at the previous two cons I attended have good hygiene.

As an autistic fan girl, my daily routine includes showering, washing my face and brushing my teeth at the same time morning and night even when I’m wearing makeup on an occasion and wearing aluminum free deodorant, lotion and perfume/body spray right after showering.

Thank goodness cons have become more diverse (safer) for gays and gals because we've got the deodorant, the spritz, the smell-goods!

I've actually never smelled con stank but I've always worried about it. But it's surprising cause the only con I've gone to so far is Anime Expo in Los Angeles and that takes place in hot ass July. But maybe that means people take extra care in keeping themselves from being sweaty and stinky so they don't feel uncomfortable or ruin their cosplays?
I don’t know if this counts as con stank, but there was this one guy at my college’s tabletop gaming (D&D) club that smelled HORRID.

I stopped consistently wearing deodorant like a year ago because every brand i tried would eventually make my skin there red, dry, crack, and bleed. It's horrible, so now i just constantly worry that i stink throughout the day, i do still carry deodorant around in case i work up a sweat and then have to walk around indoors but then i have to wash it off as soon as I get home. So far no one has told me i stink (I've asked) but i still get really nervous about it.
What does make me feel resentful is the amount of shame I feel around being brown and knowing I didn’t want to be seen as a domestic worker like my real family while raised by adoptive family in a predominantly white suburb. I showered constantly still do and don’t even like being hugged if hot. Just always needing to never even smell anything that isn’t clean. Not using a towel more than once. Heat frightens me. I can’t imagine just shrugging and going. My friend will and it’s gross af sometimes
