I actually was one of them women to carry my ultra sounds around. I was working in fast food and had a lot of regulars who came to see me specifically. If I showed them, sometimes a coworker I didn’t know well would ask to see them. I’d oblige. I was always prepared for show and tell lmaoo.
For both of my babies I kept the ultrasound pictures with me, in my purse. So it’s not that unusual that she would have them with her. It’s the family’s fault for not inviting them to family gatherings and they wouldn’t have found out at a baby shower.
The young student that had the professors child should file a lawsuit against the university that she went to and claim that he was predatory, groomed her & then ghosted her and his child. He has a long history of that and I’m sure there are people that he worked with that know it. She can also point out that he “retired” because he was threatened that his dalliances would be reported to the university. If they’re in the United States then she has a valid case. OP’s parents are despicable. I would be so ashamed if I ruined someone’s future and my actions led to them becoming homeless with a child and living in their car. It’s heartening to see that OP has morals & is helping out with her sister.

It's also very easy to make a picture with your phone of your ultrasounds pics. I had multiple people show me ultrasounds photos on their phone, it's pretty normal.
It's not unusual for a first-time mom to have her ultrasound pictures in her purse, especially if it was so difficult to get pregnant. She probably didn't think the family member she shared them with would go and share them with everyone. If it were me and my cousin who had so many infertility problems shared her pictures at my shower, I would have been happy for her and made an announcement to the family, then we could talk about it and move on with the shower. It's only as positive or negative as the family makes it. Should have been received with love, not jealousy.
I have ultrasound pictures in my purse still and I had my baby 3 weeks ago. I honestly put them in there to show people when I told them and just left them in my purse. We also have a similar story of trying to get pregnant for so long, had 3 failed IUI’s, etc. it’s completely normal for moms to carry around ultrasound pictures, not to mention that I can pictures on my phone.
I keep a smaller copy of my daughters in my wallet behind my ID. It’s of her face the first time we really got to see it. I have moved wallets countless times over the years. I’ve always made sure it was the first thing I move. Even before my ID.
I don't think op did anything wrong by not attending the party or by having her ultrasound pictures and showing them. It wasn't like she came in waving them around. For the Pregnancy Story. She did not announce her pregnancy at K's baby shower. She had her own party before but none of the side of the family showed. So I don't really think its on her. Also guys come on.... parents usually carry ultrasound photos around during the whole pregnancy... its normal. I just think that whole side of the family has their own weird issue mentally and traditionally. The second story I totally understand her. Congratulations on the baby girl. My husband and I had two failed iuis then they had to remove my fallopian tubes due to huge cysts blocking my tubes. It's so disheartening and mentally and physically painful to go through. My husband and I are going to try embryo adoption in order to have a baby. It's less expensive than ivf and better odds. If anyone could send baby wishes/prayers for us that'll be amazing. Praying for my miracle baby. ❤
It literally happened to my husband and I for 8 years before welcoming our daughter after I was grieving the family life we always wanted we finally got our merical baby.
When I was pregnant I carried my ultrasound pictures becuase I loved to look at them. That being said, I don't think she was in the wrong for having them or giving that person a quick peak. It was them who made a big deal and showed it to everyone. I still have an ultrasound picture in my wallet.
About the ultrasound pictures: here in Germany pregnant people get a little book called Mutterpass (maternity records) which they should have with them at all times during the pregnancy. It contains all the case and medical history, all information on the course of the pregnancy and the ultrasounds, so the ultrasound pictures are always in that little book with you at all times :) idk if there's a similar thing in the US tho 🤷🏻♀️
idk about anyone else, but when I was pregnant, I had my ultrasound pictures in a little hard case in my purse for months. When I got the 5 month ultrasound pics, those were added. I did this mostly because I was just really happy I was pregnant but also because nearly everyone I knew always wanted to see them, so I just kept them with me. Given how long OP in the second story had been trying to have a baby, it wouldn't surprise me if she also did the same. Oh, and I think you missed the part where OP said she "ALMOST" didn't get to announce it in person because they weren't invited to the holiday but then the uncle DID invite them because he didn't know he wasn't supposed to. As for having ultrasound pics, she’s a first time mom that FINALLY got pregnant. She’s happy and excited that what she and her husband went through is finally fruitful. I snapped pictures of my ultrasounds on my phone and set them up as wallpaper on my phone for both of my children.

Ultrasound photos can be kept in your phone's photos. Sometimes turned into a locket worn before baby is born and other ways of carrying them around that are normalized
For those who have never been pregnant, it is very common to keep your ultrasounds on you, because you like to look at them regularly. I can very much see that she had them in her purse just because, so when asked for them, the ultrasound photo was already there. The person who took them is the AH for showing them off to others or keeping them from OP.

I got on well with a lot of my professors. Never once did anything like this cross my mind. I also never met with them outside of class events or talked to them about anything other than my education and future career.
When I was pregnant with my children, I carried their ultrasounds with me all the time. It’s such an exciting time and as an expectant parent being able to see that little bean in side you. It makes it more tangible, if that makes sense. After the birth each ultrasound is placed in the photo album, even the one we lost. NTA all around. They sound like people you can live without.
Also on this second one, the ah is actually the other pregnant woman. Ppl I know just have a baby shower for their 1st baby. And if another pregnant lady shows up, more happiness and joy gets spread around. Not jealousy. OP dos nothing wrong

I clean my purse out once a year so yeah i carried my ultrasound pics until a month after my son was born 😂 When i finally left the house i had to move everything from the purse to the diaper bag so i put the ultrasound pics away in the photo album i never organized.
Story 2: i think she announced at her Uncles Holiday party, she just wasnt supposed to have been invited, the Uncle did and the fam gave her the cold shoulder. I think she announced she told people she was pregnant at the holiday party (because the uncle invited them when he didn't know they weren't supposed to be there). And then her bump was showing at the baby shower but relatives got pissed about it. Like she could help her bump showing? And some relative asked for her ultrasound photos. She wasn't going around telling people about it. That's what I got from the story.
2nd story: why even put that much effort into a relationship with the stepfamily if they have treated you and your mom so bad. Cut them loose, they are never going to be happy for you no matter what. Definitely don’t bring your child around them.
I tried various infertility treatments for 10 years, took a few years break and then had my son thanks to IVF. What OP didn't mention is that hormonally you are on stuff that makes you very emotional (similar to what pregnancy hormones do to pregnant women, if not worse). It sounds like the OP was dealing with not only that but also being ostracized by her step dad's family which is a really crappy thing for them to do. It's also completely normal to have the sonogram photo with you, 2 of my workmates have been pregnant this past year and it's the first thing I asked both of them, do you have a photo? I burst into tears in seeing the first one and again seeing a photo of her daughter a couple of days after she was born! When you go through infertility treatment, it's hard to deal with the disappointment of not being pregnant month after month, especially when others (family or friends) are easily getting pregnant. It is not resentment towards those who are pregnant although it sounds like the OP`s extended family is trying to make it look that way. One of my friends had her son the day before I had my IVF shedualed, I'd been to her both her baby showers, and even made the cake for both. I was thrilled that her second son and mine were close in age and became friends!

After all of those years of failed attempts to conceive a child, I think it's totally normal wanting to bring around your child ultrasound picture everywhere you go. Think about it: they must have been so proud and happy to finally be able to welcome their baby. I think there are rules at colleges about this. Professor could lose their jobs and students could be expelled or suspended from college. Frankly, the dad was smart to leave before being told on. It could also be that she had the ultrasound fotos on her cellphone. I am pregnant, and i have mine on my cellphone as well as original ones. So if somone asked me, well as she said they did ask her, i could show them. And she could have not nor reveal it, as she said she was allready showing, so everyone just saw it. It did not sound as she was making a big announcement on the baby shower, it sounded like she just told the family, everyone sepperately. And she was not waving her ultrasound around, they asked. So the only way she would not have "stolen the spotlight" would have been to not come at all....wich they would have also critizized. At least that is how it sounds to me.

Depending on the college they have different rules. The one in my area you can be a teacher and you can date a student but you cannot date one of your students due to power imbalances and favoritism in grading

Really depends on the family. My oldest daughter said she would be willing to let her baby sister and her bestie get engaged at her wedding. She also wouldn't care if someone anouncnded that 5hey were having a baby either. She loves her family and friends so much so that she just loves to see them happy. Same with her baby sister. It's also very easy to make a picture with your phone of your ultrasounds pics. I had multiple people show me ultrasounds photos on their phone, it's pretty normal.
Also you can by a portable ultrasound machine through your phone. Where you can then screenshot or record a video.
And have everyone pass it around and not want to give it back?

It's not unusual for a first-time mom to have her ultrasound pictures in her purse, especially if it was so difficult to get pregnant. She probably didn't think the family member she shared them with would go and share them with everyone. If it were me and my cousin who had so many infertility problems shared her pictures at my shower, I would have been happy for her and made an announcement to the family, then we could talk about it and move on with the shower. It's only as positive or negative as the family makes it. Should have been received with love, not jealousy.
I have ultrasound pictures in my purse still and I had my baby 3 weeks ago. I honestly put them in there to show people when I told them and just left them in my purse. We also have a similar story of trying to get pregnant for so long, had 3 failed IUI’s, etc. it’s completely normal for moms to carry around ultrasound pictures, not to mention that I can pictures on my phone.
I keep a smaller copy of my daughters in my wallet behind my ID. It’s of her face the first time we really got to see it.
I have moved wallets countless times over the years. I’ve always made sure it was the first thing I move. Even before my ID.
I don't think op did anything wrong by not attending the party or by having her ultrasound pictures and showing them. It wasn't like she came in waving them around. For the Pregnancy Story. She did not announce her pregnancy at K's baby shower. She had her own party before but none of the side of the family showed. So I don't really think its on her. Also guys come on.... parents usually carry ultrasound photos around during the whole pregnancy... its normal. The second story I totally understand her. Congratulations on the baby girl. My husband and I had two failed iuis then they had to remove my fallopian tubes due to huge cysts blocking my tubes. It's so disheartening and mentally and physically painful to go through. My husband and I are going to try embryo adoption in order to have a baby. It's less expensive than ivf and better odds. If anyone could send baby wishes/prayers for us that'll be amazing. Praying for my miracle baby. ❤

When I was pregnant I carried my ultrasound pictures becuase I loved to look at them. That being said, I don't think she was in the wrong for having them or giving that person a quick peak. It was them who made a big deal and showed it to everyone. I still have an ultrasound picture in my wallet.
About the ultrasound pictures: here in Germany pregnant people get a little book called Mutterpass (maternity records) which they should have with them at all times during the pregnancy. It contains all the case and medical history, all information on the course of the pregnancy and the ultrasounds, so the ultrasound pictures are always in that little book with you at all times :) idk if there's a similar thing in the US tho 🤷🏻♀️
idk about anyone else, but when I was pregnant, I had my ultrasound pictures in a little hard case in my purse for months. When I got the 5 month ultrasound pics, those were added. I did this mostly because I was just really happy I was pregnant but also because nearly everyone I knew always wanted to see them, so I just kept them with me. Given how long OP in the second story had been trying to have a baby, it wouldn't surprise me if she also did the same.
Oh, and I think you missed the part where OP said she "ALMOST" didn't get to announce it in person because they weren't invited to the holiday but then the uncle DID invite them because he didn't know he wasn't supposed to. Which I took to mean that they did go and announce it.

As for having ultrasound pics, she’s a first time mom that FINALLY got pregnant. She’s happy and excited that what she and her husband went through is finally fruitful. I snapped pictures of my ultrasounds on my phone and set them up as wallpaper on my phone for both of my children.

Ultrasound photos can be kept in your phone's photos. Sometimes turned into a locket worn before baby is born and other ways of carrying them around that are normalized
For those who have never been pregnant, it is very common to keep your ultrasounds on you, because you like to look at them regularly. I can very much see that she had them in her purse just because, so when asked for them, the ultrasound photo was already there. The person who took them is the AH for showing them off to others or keeping them from OP.
My daughter is 1 and i still carry ultrasound pictures in my purse. Lol. I forget to clean it and I love them.

I got on well with a lot of my professors. Never once did anything like this cross my mind. I also never met with them outside of class events or talked to them about anything other than my education and future career.
It may not be illegal but it’s probably against the code of conduct of the university.
Some universities don’t even have policies about professor-student hook ups. Much less being against the law. It’s REALLY common.
When I was pregnant with my children, I carried their ultrasounds with me all the time. It’s such an exciting time and as an expectant parent being able to see that little bean in side you. It makes it more tangible, if that makes sense. After the birth each ultrasound is placed in the photo album, even the one we lost. NTA all around. They sound like people you can live without.
Also on this second one, the ah is actually the other pregnant woman. Ppl I know just have a baby shower for their 1st baby. And if another pregnant lady shows up, more happiness and joy gets spread around. Not jealousy. OP dos nothing wrong

Story 1. The baby is a half sibling. I would do anything to support a baby sibling.
I think she announced she told people she was pregnant at the holiday party (because the uncle invited them when he didn't know they weren't supposed to be there). And then her bump was showing at the baby shower but relatives got pissed about it. Like she could help her bump showing? And some relative asked for her ultrasound photos. She wasn't going around telling people about it. That's what I got from the story.
2nd story: why even put that much effort into a relationship with the stepfamily if they have treated you and your mom so bad. Cut them loose, they are never going to be happy for you no matter what. Definitely don’t bring your child around them.

I tried various infertility treatments for 10 years, took a few years break and then had my son thanks to IVF. What OP didn't mention is that hormonally you are on stuff that makes you very emotional (similar to what pregnancy hormones do to pregnant women, if not worse). It sounds like the OP was dealing with not only that but also being ostracized by her step dad's family which is a really crappy thing for them to do.
It's also completely normal to have the sonogram photo with you, 2 of my workmates have been pregnant this past year and it's the first thing I asked both of them, do you have a photo? I burst into tears in seeing the first one and again seeing a photo of her daughter a couple of days after she was born!
When you go through infertility treatment, it's hard to deal with the disappointment of not being pregnant month after month, especially when others (family or friends) are easily getting pregnant. It is not resentment towards those who are pregnant although it sounds like the OP`s extended family is trying to make it look that way. One of my friends had her son the day before I had my IVF shedualed, I'd been to her both her baby showers, and even made the cake for both. I was thrilled that her second son and mine were close in age and became friends!
Second story: I always had my kids ultrasound with me. And I’d show them off whenever asked.

After all of those years of failed attempts to conceive a child, I think it's totally normal wanting to bring around your child ultrasound picture everywhere you go. Think about it: they must have been so proud and happy to finally be able to welcome their baby. It could also be that she had the ultrasound fotos on her cellphone. I am pregnant, and i have mine on my cellphone as well as original ones. So if somone asked me, well as she said they did ask her, i could show them. And she could have not nor reveal it, as she said she was allready showing, so everyone just saw it. It did not sound as she was making a big announcement on the baby shower, it sounded like she just told the family, everyone sepperately. And she was not waving her ultrasound around, they asked. So the only way she would not have "stolen the spotlight" would have been to not come at all....wich they would have also critizized. At least that is how it sounds to me.

Depending on the college they have different rules. The one in my area you can be a teacher and you can date a student but you cannot date one of your students due to power imbalances and favoritism in grading
