- Lone Star Grillz Santa Maria Grill is completely different than LSG offset smoker. Santa Maria Style Cooking using real logs to create coals and therefore Santa Maria grilling is about as primal & immersive as it gets. In a world that values "set it and forget it" this could not be more opposite... Is Santa Maria Cooking right for you?

Man Justin now that was a walk around review right there Folks!! You are correct, I love cooking prime rib!!! ha ha Thank you for introducing me to all the Maniac's, oh wait Hi Maniac's nice to meet you!!!!!! haha The LSG Santa Maria is so much fun to cook on and the wood flavor is so amazing!!! If you enjoy cooking this pit should be on everyone's bucket list because the satisfaction you get after a job well done is very hard to match!! Great video bud and I really am happy to hear that I am not a communist!!!! hahahahaha
Like I told Rus, You literally may be one of the least communist people I know, Jeff. lol.
@@BabyBackManiac ok good! hahaha
@@BabyBackManiac that just means its time for a bigger backyard..😆
@@triaxe-mmb Justin if you need to make room for new pits I will gladly take some off your hands lol. I'm in NJ, will travel to pick to pick some up lol.
Awesome presentation as always! you have my dream backyard grill station !
Brad.
What is your address? Let's cook.
IT'S ABOUT TIME! I had been dying to see you make a video about this. Has me extremely excited to receive mine. Turns out I ordered exactly what you did, and then had them tack on the rotisserie when I got the build notification. You did though just convince me to spring for the custom cover too. Anyway... can't wait to see you put out more videos featuring this amazing grill! Thanks man!
Thanks Dave. Isn't it awesome!
You are such a nut!!! Love your laugh Justin! You crack me up bro! That Santa Maria looks really nice and I can't wait to join you for a cook on it!!!! Very nice addition to your cooker family. Miss ya my brother!!! Much love to you and the family!
Thanks, buddy. I can't wait for you to play with it either. That'll be fun. Have a great weekend, my friend...and tell Mrs. Karen I said hi.
First, - Thanks for some new content - we all miss you so much.
Great review! - I am a hands-on guy, so this would really appeal to me.
What a beast of a grill! It looks amazing, and it is so configurable, and well optioned.
Thanks, Garry. It's been a tough summer over here. Needed a break and didn't even realize it. I appreciate your kind words.
You are so real. Real honest, real unrehearsed, real enthusiasm, real laugh. Thank you. May your BBQs be real successful. Peace ☮️
Thanks David. That was nice of you to say
Nice review Justin! This is definitely something I'll add to my outdoor kitchen bucket list!
Thanks for returning!!! Looking forward to your next show(s).
Thanks Tony. I appreciate you watching
So happy to see a new video Justin.
Thanks Tommy
Justin,! Nice to see you back mate. Always enjoyed your videos.
Hey, thanks!
Where have you been. Miss your vids........Great content and honest useable info !!!!!!!!
Hey Greg. Needed some downtime and didn't even realize it. Thanks for asking.
Great to see you back! Great looking kit.
Thanks, it's good to be back.
Great walk around Justin.
I received my Lone Star Santa Maria in January 2020 right before they offer this grate system. I will be converting mine over to that system within the next couple months.
It’s been a blast to cook on. I smile every time I use mine also.
Thanks for sharing
It's almost impossible not to smile, isn't it? lol. Thanks for watching, BCrockett.
James I mean Justin. We all thought you were dead... Welcome back!
lol. Those reports were greatly exaggerated. thanks, man
Love the grill and love your reviews Justin, thanks so much for these informative and entertaining videos
Thanks, Stu. I really appreciate that
As someone who was raised in Santa Maria, I really love that grill with those upgrades
Good to know!
Your back Justin!!!! Great video my man and sure love these cookers! Hope you and yours are awesome! 👊🙏🇺🇸
Thanks, Bobby. Appreciate it. Hope yall are well as well.
That's why I like the Baby Back Maniac. He always goes the extra mile to show every detail even if it means getting arrested. There was a lot of time invested in that review and a bunch of cooks we barely saw, but every one of them looked awesome! Nice job Justin (and Lone Star Grillz)
Thanks, Ryan. I really appreciate that. Yeah, I practiced alot before I made this video. Bigger learning curve.
Have a great weekend. I'll be in grill jail if you need me. lol.
Glad to see you back. Getting worried!
Looks great! Nice to see you back, hope all is well.
Thanks, Jon. Have a great weekend.
@@BabyBackManiac thank you, you too.
Your description of the Santa Maria type grill being a "set it and forget it" type grill is well said. The ergonomically friendly campfire is spot on too :)
Now you went and done it! That smile on your face is going to be permanent! Enjoy that style of cooking I’ve done it for years and it seems to be the most fun at a party time!!
So true!
Wow! Welcome back!!!
Thank you!
Great video buddy. Cooking viking style is so much fun. Ricer sent me
That sounds like something Ricer would say. LOL
Great review! I really appreciate your honest straight forward reviews. Looks like you cooked enough on it before you did the review to really understand the tool before you reviewed it. That's very professional and part of what makes you so credible and fun to watch. Best to you, Dave
Thanks Dave,
I really do try. If I say something in good faith that turns out to be wrong it bugs me for years...so it's kinda of a self-defense move. lol. Thanks for the kind works.
Justin
This is a great video my man! I love it I want one of these so bad!
That LSG truck just keeps dropping off awesomeness on your doorstep! Can't wait to see you do some cooks on it!
Thanks, bud. Hope you are doing well.
Wow! I really want one of those. Definitely on my bucket list.
I was drooling over the old Lone Star Santa Maria. This redesign looks like a party animal. It would be so much fun to cook for a crowd on that monster.
I know, right? Thanks for watching, PK.
Justin, so glad you're back. Don't stay away so long!! Please!!! PS I want one!
Thanks, Ron. It's been a tough summer. I needed time off and didn't even realize it. Thanks for the kind words.
@@BabyBackManiac whatever you need. Just know we all miss your creativity and humor. It's clear how passionate you are, and we really appreciate what you do .
Man I missed your videos! Congrats on your new baby!
Thank you. have a great weekend
Awesome grill Justin!!! Thank you for sharing. That thing is built to feed a lot of people. Great video!!!
Yeah, feed an army. lol. Thanks for watching, William.
I’ll never buy this, but it is soooo good to see you back!
Thanks Mike. I really appreciate that. I've missed posting.
I love that side firebox and the ability to shovel hot coals to the places where you want them... this lone start stuff is serious stuff.... maybe one of these days I'll get one of those...
You'd love it, John. Thanks for watching my video, my friend.
Hey good to see you. Great video, love the idea of these grills
Hey, thanks man. Hope you are doing well. I see you are still cranking out content like crazy. impressive.
Been missing you. Glad you’re back. Where you’ve been?
Life. Just life. Thanks for the kind words though
Great and informative video. Well done. Thanks
Congratulations! That’s absolutely badass!
Thanks, man. Appreciate you watching
Looks awesome! On my bucket list for sure
It's a fun one. Thanks for watching
I'm waiting on my Santa maria. It's the same model as yours without the brasero. Should be 2 more weeks. Great video Justin.
Congratulations, Joe. It's different than anything else I've got. Lots of fun.
I was right here so I hit "Like". Now I'll watch!
Hey Justin! Because I live in a big city I have no possibility to use such a grill, but I keep dreaming about it. So I watch videos all the time about these grills and I always come back to your's wich is very fun and informative! I wish one day I can get to cook on something like this, but in the meantime, I use my Weber attachement and it "does the job". Cheers mate!
Nothing cooler then when the BIG RIG pulls up to deliver something for you!
I love all your content, cool grill too!
I appreciate that!
Man this looks so awesome! Live fire grilling is my absolute favorite! You can play with fire and make an excellent meal without devoting 12 hours of your day. You should get some great use out of this now the weather is cooler! Congrats I’m jealous!!
You'll have to come check it out when we do our thing...whatever that ends up being.
Nice to hear from you again Justin and hats off to Mamma Maniac for approving your newest addition (I need lessons). I mean it, I need lessons!
Lol
Nice video, can't wait to get one of my own!
Gosh darn it- I ordered a large IVS in August - hope to see it getting built soon- now you got me wanting to get one of these. Love the stuff LSG is producing.
So just to be clear, Louis....NOW is the point where you say "I don't need one more"? lol. (thanks for watching, bud.)
Anything built by Lone Star is top quality. I love watching my grill even if I’m using my Weber kettle. It’s relaxing. Just grill or smoke something on this bad boy! Great to see you back with a new toy Justin! Cheers brother!
I totally feel that, Jay. It’s just solid stuff
Pretty sweet grill, looking forward to seeing you break it in.
Thanks man
I would love one of those grills but don’t think they will be available quite yet in Australia. It’s great to see you putting up new content. It would be even better to see you making content for the channel more frequently. Keep up the good work.
Thanks, Peter. I appreciate the kind words. Have a great weekend.
Glad you're back Justin! Great video. Would love to see a video doing ribs on this.
Will do!! Thanks, Collin
Great video and great grill! Santa Maria is my favorite way to grill, no doubt.
Thanks, Damon. I appreciate you watching man
Great video. Gotta get one of these.
Thanks for watching Ken
That looks amazing!!
Thanks, Micah.
Ricer sent me. Don't care what you cook on it, I'll watch as this style of cooking interests me. Would love one but in all honesty, I couldn't justify the purchase presently but I can dream about it.
That's part of why we love youtube, right? When can live vicariously through other people when we need to save money. lol. Thanks for watching, Troy.
@@BabyBackManiac For sure. Watching others cook ribs on a Santa Maria (and Smoking Joe grill ribs hot and fast in an hour) led me to experiment on my SnS kettle with direct grilling of ribs over coals on an elevated grate. Probably my favorite way. Grill might be different, the method is interchangeable though. YT is great for ideas,
@@troyv8302 For sure!
Congrats 👍🏽👍🏽...that SM is 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you, sir!
Welcome back been awhile ...!! Yep I plan to have one with all the upgrades along with the rotisserie.. I plan to have two Lonestar smokers one like yours and the other a regular one. Planon building my backyard kitchen..
That's going to be an awesome kitchen!
@@BabyBackManiac well Justin when all said and done when the house is built I’ll let you and y’all take a road trip to Ohio and we’ll do some cooking..!!
You can cook anything on that grill for us. That’s still one of the dream grills I want..thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching, Kevin. For what it's worth, It's a worthy dream grill inclusion IMHO. Thanks for watching!
That bad boy looks amazing I can’t imagine a better grill for doing a lot of steaks at once for a big party!
Exactly! That's how it all started...making lots of beef for hungry cattle ranchers 200 years ago.
That is a phenomenal cooker that is going to have find its way into my backyard! Can't wait to see you cook on it. Maybe totally traditional and do a Tri-Tip over oak!
Good thing ricer told me you had a new video out! It's been way to long! Love this cooker think it's time for another hotdog cook
LOL. I’ll have to go find one… Just one ;-).
Have a great weekend, Rusty.
Excellent review of this grill. It looks awesome!
Thanks for watching!
And he's back!!
lol. Thanks for watching, J John.
Now you need us Californians to send you some tri-tips. I'll trade for brisket lol. That thing looks amazing.
For real! We’re gonna heck of a deal. LOL. I used to be able to find a pretty good Tri tips
at Costco but they stopped selling them a few years ago. Now I can still find them but they’re never good looking.
Congratulations, Justin. That's just way too much fun. Maybe the only thing more intensive to cook on than an offset. I've got another LSG coming in December to got with the Adjustable Grill & Smoker. This time it's the pellet grill. I thought I was done with pellet cookers, but the LSG just had everything I'd ever wished for on my previous pellet burners and I just couldn't resist.
Yeah, it looks really nice. Congratulations.
I bought two sizes of the Gabby's Grill attachment for the Weber grills and I LOVE THEM. Especially at the park or lake front.
If I had one of these I'd never leave the yard. Looks amazing.
lol. Thanks for watching, PartyUpLive
Very nice. Thanks for sharing.
But where do I plug it in?
"Every time I touch it I smile - see, watch"
Now THAT'S a man's grill - wow. That is the MOST impressive BBQ I have EVER seen, I WANT ONE. I bet it costs more than a car lol. And that delivery, planning ahead has new meaning lol. What an amazing video, it covers everything from bragging rights, to boys and their toys to playing with fire and not getting in trouble. Huge thumbs up 👍👍👍👍👍
Lol. Thanks buddy. Appreciate you watching
Well, well look who got another new toy ! That is one bad ass looking grill Justin ! Congrats ! Gotta love live fire cooking !
There's really nothing like it, is there? Thanks for watching, bud.
A free toy…
@@danielploy9143 lol. If you only knew how much money and time I've spent on youtube over the last 5.5 years, you'd realize how funny that sounds. It would have been a lot cheaper in the long run to just buy it. but thanks for watching.
I have three or four Weber charcoal grills, but I still want that grill!
I know that feeling all too well. lol
Justin thank you, thank you for the review! I am so pumped! I ordered mine July 6 and call to see were it was in
the fabrication process. Found out they started it on September 15 so I should get the email that it ready
some day this week. No more Webber kettle and no more flare ups. Just crank the wheel! Got the 20 by 36
offset smoker last year. Big fan of you and T-Roy! Look forward to seeing yah cook on what we both own! Oh
did I mention that I’m just a little bit pumped about about getting my Santa Maria grill for LSG?
Lol. That’s awesome. Congratulations
In Santa Maria we normally use an 8 sec count to adjust heat 😇
makes sense.
That’s a fantastic grill. I can’t wait to get one in my collection.
Oh yeah buddy I missed you! This I fantastic can't wait to see more from you and this!
Thanks man. I really appreciate you saying that. It's been a tough summer...needed a break and didn't even know it.
@@BabyBackManiac I know oh to well about needing a break. I was talking to Ricer yesterday and I asked him about you. He mentioned that you would "have a video soon" 😆 well damn nice new setup for sure.
@@SDSBBQs He told me. I appreciate you asking about me, Dash. Have a great weekend.
@@BabyBackManiac Yes Sir you do the same!
This may be my bucket list grill. Looks amazing.
It's a worthy bucket list grill. Really well built and fun to cook on. Thanks for watching my video, Shawn.
@@BabyBackManiac Always a pleasure.
Very cool grill. I ordered a Grill Works Architectural for my built in kitchen. Can't wait to play with fire all day and smell the juices!
I can’t imagine ever needing one of those grills, but your videos are fun to watch. And now I want one of those grills so I can play with fire.
That's as good a reason as any. lol.
Awesome Grill!!! Dream Grill for now!!
Love the grill. I have the 48 inch lone star Santa maria grill,, so happy with the grill
This is definitely a dream cooker. My only suggestion for lone star would be to add an additional perpendicular layer of expanded metal to the coal racks to keep those smaller coals from falling through.
Looks like the backyard is getting crowded!
It really is getting crowded. I'm going to have some tough choices to make before too long. Thanks for watching!
The other thing is the fact that the brasero design doesn't allow you to sweep the coals from the brasero box to the cooking chamber. Having to shovel them all the way out and then back in seems like a pain. I'm sure they can come up with a design that integrates the brasero into the cook chamber
Grew up not too far from Santa Maria. Hands down, the most “fun” style of outdoor cooker.
I love it too. There's nothing like it!
Lompoc💪
That's a beast of a grill Justin! Congratulations!
Thanks Joe. Appreciate you watching.
I’m so glad you got the Santa Maria Grill Justin! I’ve been enjoying this style of cooking for a few years now and it’s awesome! Enjoy Sir. I’m still waiting on the 24 x 84 trailer pit from LSG to arrive…I’m so excited! Have a good weekend my friend!
You are going to have a blast with that. I Can’t wait to see it. Have a great weekend and enjoy this awesome weather we’re having
@@BabyBackManiac This great weather is long over due. I’m cooking some ribs and wings on the summit right now. Beautiful day to grill. Enjoy the weekend Justin!
@@DskiGrillz thanks man. you too
Amazing grill Justin. It’s awesome that they give you the v shape grills as an option. And really impressed with the ash pit. I got a gabbys grill and personally, i love using it. It’s def fun for me but I can see how the Santa Maria style grilling might not be for everyone.
The GG is a great way to stick your toe in the water without spending a ton of money. It's how I knew I wanted this.
That is a gorgeous grill!
always wanted a santa maria style grill so i purchased one a year ago. i learned quickly that they are super fun but they consumed 3x as much fuel than any grill with a lid. LSG are pretty indestructible so it will last a lifetime. Nowadays i use mine for short cooks but my WEBER 26" IS KING of versatility plus with the large charcoal tray it so fuel economical.
Yep. Totally different ball game. It's not fuel efficient, easy, or set it or forget it...but it's a lot of fun. The 26 Weber is a great compliment to it when you need those things.
Where have ya been brother. Long time since you put out a video. Good to see ya back.
It's been a tough summer. I needed a break and didn't even realize it. Thanks for the kind words. I really appreciate it.
@@BabyBackManiac no problem hope all is well now. A new grill always help lift the spirits.
I think I could find a use for it.
WOW!!!!!!! Im coming over!
lol. You're name is hysterical.
@@BabyBackManiac it happens with too much beer
This video got me so sold on this grill. I'm about to take delivery on my third LSG pit, but in a couple of years, this will be my fourth.
You sound like my kinda guy, Haniel. Thanks for watching.
It would be really cool to see a side by side grilling experiment, V grate vs regular grate look and taste test!
That grill looks pretty impressive. Cheers! ✌️
Cheers, Dwayne. Have a great weekend.
Damn, now that's a sponsorship 🤘🏼
Looks fun Justin! I would love to have one of those!
You'd love it, Johnny. Hope you are well.
@@BabyBackManiac Doing just fine my friend!
Now that's a grill right there
Thanks for watching, Rudy
This sure is a neat option....I don't know that I host enough parties to really use something like that properly but I could see something like this on a trailer making a grate catering grill too! Nice review.
Is the flavor more like a charcoal grill or do you get some smoke too?
Congratulations awesome cooker. It's massive defiantly for large gatherings.
Hy Justin Ricer sent me. lol Not really but....... I love LOVE cooking with fire, and between Ricer and now you man oh man. My wife would kill me. It's just so much fun controlling open flames! Awesome Job as usual!
lol. I totally understand. Thanks for watching, bud.
welp... we need to load that thing down lol. This is awesome JW. I also have a Santa Maria grill on my bucket list lol. Awesome video man
I have plans for us and this grill, Kenneth. Talk soon.
You will need an advanced fireproof wall to put around that thing on a windy day, Justin, or a big lot of land.
All Rob wants to add to his Weber Summit Charcoal Summit Grilling Station, is a Blackstone Griddle. Justin gets himself a tank. ;-)
Congratulations, Justin. You are almost officially all the way in. LOL. I love how you love your passion. You deserve it. That thing is AWESOME!
Thanks. It’s an addictive hobby LOL Thanks for stopping by
Really awesome video as always, brother! I love those style cookers. I’ll always remember those Santa Maria Mushrooms that Harry Soo made when I was with you guys in Dallas.
