Eli is honest, talented, grateful, sarcastic, and hilarious. I’m not a fan of kidnapping or kidnapping jokes, but the kidnapping clamp had me rolling. I’m looking forward to catching up with his videos. Laughing and learning is a great combo. Points to Harbor Freight for the best response to a critical video review!
The one belt sander he bought where the plate wouldn't tighten I have one and I dont have that problem it's really great I'm assuming his was defective in some way
@@jangofet3756 yes, brushless tools too. It's not just the brushes that make the smell. It can also be the windings heating up and gassing the insulation for the first time, the bearings wearing it, the grease in the gear set heating up, the electronics, etc. Lots of things make a smell the first time they are turned on. My brushless Dewalt driver made a smell through the first 20 minutes of use.
Both drills are same voltage even though one says 18V and the other says 20V. It's just marketing, "bigger number must be better, right?". They both have 5pcs of 18650 3.7V cells so nominally they are 18.5V. One just rounded to 18V and the other to 20V. And voltage alone doesn't determine if one is more powerful than the other, you also need a motor that can use enough current to produce the power. An old professional level 12V drill might be more powerful than a new cheap chinese 18V/20V drill.
Old 12v drills usually use ni-cad batteries which are worth their weight in excrement, as far as I'm concerned. When lithium 20v became affordable I switched to that, then I started selling them all to go with one battery platform. As a hobbyist, I'm really loving HFT's Bauer line of tools. Everytime they come out with a new one I sell the equivalent tool I already own by someone else. So far I have the hammer drill, circ saw, jig saw, and angle grinder. They're awesome.
I was a manager at Harbor Freight for about 4 years and we did everything in our power to help out customers. This is the way we are taught by corporate. We realize internally that our tools don't always match up to the professional brands, but in the beginning Harbor Freight wasn't competing with the professionals it was competing with homeowners who were DIYing and now that there are a lot more people from the professional field who are looking to spend less on tools, Harbor Freight is trying to step things up.
I've got the bauer drill they sell. The trigger has more stages of slow speed, so you can screw things with more accuracy. The chuck is deeper too, so if you have a long drill you need to hold deeper in there it doesn't bottom out.
without reading the title I always thought you were saying "hardware freight", and I thought hey that makes sense and now I realize my stupidity (we don't have harbor freight in Australia)
This whole thing was nice of them to do, but doesn't help the fact that you are still down a chop saw and a better sander. Feels like they sent you and un-tailored bribe package instead of a "let's correct things" package
Actually that package seemed relatively tailored. It's things he uses frequently on the channel. And they do not have the ability to send him the two tools he wanted because he got mini portable versions of those tools and they simply do not have those products at the level of quality Eli is looking for. They had to send alternative products
Listen I work at harbor freight, (and fuckin hate it) but things like the mini chop saw is a total gimmick. they’re ass and those small belt sanders are kinda iffy
The belt sander really is a highly recommended product. The mini-chopsaw and table saw are a joke. They might be good for dollhouse furniture but not what Eli was looking for. The vices are great when you get a good one but it seems a lot of RUclipsrs aren't so lucky.
