I feel like sometimes this is a better way to rank games because you don't have to directly compare them as much. It is much easier to say both moniker and wonderland's war are S tier without having to sit and think, "but can you really compare them".

Tatsu is one of my favorite 2 player games, but when you described it as trick taking I was super confused so I looked it up - guess there's more than one and now I need to do a deep dive on the trick taking one because I also love trick taking! I highly recommend the board game version with the nice dragon pieces.
I agree with a lot of takes on here and the Nemesis one so much. Alien is my favorite movie ever and Nemesis was an obvious purchase for me and on the surface, it looks perfect, then you play it and all these classic Awaken Realms flaws keep creeping up. After a few games I sold my copy and regret nothing. Nemesis is a lot of things, fun is not one of them. Also,
I'll throw it here : There are zero reasons why the queen token should be in the bag on turn one, that's lazy game design in my opinion.

I really likes "Sea, Salt & Paper" launched to S, it's the same at home.
The couple of games that are S tier for me are "Five Tribes" and "Tigris and Euphrates", those need to be talked about more, I wonder if those are missing cause you did not play them (highly unlikely 😅) or because you don't like em (likely hearbreaking 😂)

Awesome list of games you guys have there! If I could add a few more on your behalf, I’d strongly recommend the following: Foundations of Rome, Fractured Sky, Nemesis (original), Seas of Havoc and Flick ‘em up! It would be a blast to play some of these with you as well :)

I backed the recent Wonderland's War w/ expansion mostly because of how much you guys seem to love it. Now to find a proper game group to play it with! Love the tier ranking idea, btw. I have a spreadsheet that I keep all my games on, and I do a 1-5 ranking, but I like the idea of the alpha rating. Seeing your collection is nice because it gives me some ideas for games I've maybe thought about getting, or even never heard of, but am intrigued. Very fun to watch! Thanks!

Nemesis just is a bit of a slog IMO. People can be eliminated very quickly just based on random dumb luck. And for a 2+ hour game, can be a tough pill to swallow

Based on Codenames and Decrypto, I gather you don't prefer team games. So Clover and Just One are similar, but not as dependent on other people.

I spent the whole video just waiting to see how Agricola would shake out, knowing that Jeff likes it and Jamie would probably put it in F if possible, lol. Also, I'd say Wavelength is a fun activity, but it's not really a game.
I kind of feel the same about Wavelength - some people really love it and I love that for them!
580 games... that is not as much as I thought.... that's reasonable...
that's a fun little exercise :) though, burncycle is an S-tier game, and on this there can be no debate :)

I’m curious. You mention sleeping gods not working well at two. BGG suggests two as optimal count. What would you recommend as optimal count?
We have only played it at 2 so it's hard to say, but I would say 4 would be the optimal for us!
I just found this channel and absolutely love your clarity on *why* you rate things the way you two do. You two also make me so happy with how well you communicate and defer to one another. This is the most harmonious and genuine tier list I've seen. Love the energy you guys bring to this hobby!

Oh wow, someone else who has played the road to Canterbury. Such a great game. The fact that it looks so old just drew me in. The theme and the gameplay had me here to stay

WHAT HAPPENED WITH BOHNANZA! What was the player count you guys played at? I love that game. Very group dependent though, and if you don't like the look that doesn't help. Bohnanza Dahlias is a prettier version but anyway, you can't play that game at 2. It starts cooking at four or higher. But there is a threshold where you can have too many. Don't know, my family likes to play it and each have our favorite beans to collect. The 25th anniversary box is a nice set that comes with some good fixes to the game and some neat modules.
Unfortunately not everyone is going to share the same opinion about games! Just didn’t work for us :)

So I have recently been watching your channel, and enjoying it, but I also wanted to clarify something I have seen several times mentioned in videos, that I agree with overall but I think there are a couple exceptions that should be considered.
The topic is how many games are too many games. I think this is very much an individual choice as each person has different situations and can really make the decision for themselves.
Here are the caveats to this is if your purchasing of games is impacting your life in a major way.
It could be you are you choosing to buy games over paying bills, or buying food or another required piece or life. Often times this may be hard as the person buying the game to recognize, but if you buy a game you are thinking about how you have to have ramen for the rest of the month, you probably should hold off on the game (unless you just really like ramen).
The second is your spouse or significant other has an issue with the amount of games that are coming into the house. If you are creating tension within your immediate relationships over games, I l think you should take a strong look at why this is causing tension, and make sure you are communicating with them about why you want to buy the game and listen to their perspective too.
Finally, if games don't have a home when they get to your home, this is more likely connected to FOMO where you keep buying games because they sound fun, but they have now gotten in the way of getting into rooms in your dwelling, it may be creating a hazard for life.
To be clear, I don't think there is an amount of games that everyone should not go over, but if it is affecting your finances, relationship or safety, take a moment to examine if your purchasing is in a healthy place.
I mean, yes. Absolutely. But this should be applied to anything in life that is not a necessity like food / shelter. I don’t think you’ll find anyone that would agree boardgames should take precedence over bills and other necessities in life.
@@FostertheMeeple Strangely, a friend of mine has gone through borrowing money to buy more magic cards, games and other non essentials items, when he isn't working due to injury taking on debt to make these purchases. I have had to counsel that taking loans to continue buying isn't the best course and he should wait to buy more until his financial situation stabilizes. It's been hard on his relationships and of course his financial situation too.

The rankings are objectively subjective.
Going through this exercise can certainly help, and part of the discussion that got touched on is whether the games thay would be better with more will come out with more. There's only so much time in the day (and friends who can give you their time), and these games should be either games to be played or games to be shown off.
There are so many games coming out that being selective is essential to not be buried under the stream of games.
Some people like to collect games though. Which we fall into. There’s no need to assume that games “have to be played otherwise get rid of them”. People collect all sorts of things, books, movies, video games.

I almost bought Applejack at deep discount, but backed out at the last second because I'd heard about the over-complicated scoring. Do you think you would you have ranked it the same if you could only play it physically?
On the topic of Uwe though, Loyang is great and the only game that I know for certain would be in my top 10, maybe even top 5, so it's always awesome to see it get some love.
We’ve played it a ton physically, I don’t find the scoring that complicated. But that’s just my opinion of course
