Sorry for the re-release, folks. We just found out this video disappeared a few months back and we didn't notice until recently. We contacted RUclips but they said there was nothing they could do. Feel free to leave the same angry comment for Mike being mean to your game!
Finally a board game reviewer that seems to have an independent opinion. These tier lists and this fast paced format are the easiest S-tier ever! PLEASE do more! Tier list of BGA top 500, 100 at a time? Tier list your own collection? Tier list light-medium-heavy games? Dry euros? By decade? Just please do more and keep doing what you're doing!
Haha well I already did the BGA top 100. I'm not sure I can do 500. I'd probably have to prepare for that for like a year and get the games I have not played learned and played. My own top 100 was fairly rapid fire . . . kinda haha. Maybe tier list board game designers?
@@TabletopTurtle I know, I watched and loved both of them :) 500-200 is even more interesting though because there are a lot lesser known/hidden gems there. You can do it just like this one: I come bursting into your house demanding to hear your opinion on the games that you actually have played :) Tier list board game designers would be great :) Underrated games, overrated games, easy to learn lifetime to master, packs more than meets the eye. I'll watch them all!
I noticed that we don't have much in common when it comes to our taste in board games. Games I really like get a C, D or F in your list and some I don't care for at all are ranked higher. (This is a bit overexaggerated, there are enough games we agree on. Dice Realms and Wonderland's War for example.) However... I really like you and your style of commenting on games. That makes me not feel angry about your opinions but see them as exactly that - opinions. And it makes me try to understand your point of view. What I mean to say is: I love your videos and even if we don't agree on everything, I'm always looking forward to seeing new videos of yours pop up in my subscription feed. And your Top 100 games video is still one of my - if not THE - favorite board game related videos.
Well you can just buy the games I don't like! I appreciate the kind words and I'm happy you just take it as my opinion. I think too many content creators try to create some façade of objectivity. And I'm also happy you liked the top 100. It was a ton of work and a little gut-wrenching at times but well worth it.
I played the game 6 times. I wanted so badly to like this game - the art is awesome and i love the idea of this game.... but i finally came to the same conclusion. I did one action, played one card and then - Upkeep, trickers, more trickers, even more trickers.... did i remember this tricker.... have about that one? Which one trickers first? Ooohhhh, i forgot this tricker? Did I remember that my character had plus one damage? Did I take in to account the villains plus one on defence???? SHIIIIIIIT, the Villain has the birds in play, which means every card trickers TWICE!!!!! aaarhhhh.... I don't get that card - what does it mean (two minutes later after reading the rulebook), ok, finally it's my turn again. I can do all of ONE ACTION!!!!!
Lacrimosa makes no thematic sense. Even the designers couldn’t figure it out. Read their description on page 1. Half the game Mozart is alive, half the game he is dead. That’s the only way to make sense of it. You move him around the board, you also pay composers to finish his work.
Great video, the only have i really disagree with you on is Foundations of Rome, not that people should buy it, but that it's not a good game. I do play it with the objective, monuments, and roads expansions and that makes it truly meaty.
I agree about how great Mosaic is. The set up is rough but the game is worth it. Two games from 2022 you should try are Federation and Space Station Phoenix. Neither got a huge amount of buzz but I like both a lot.
There are just so many damn cards. It's just too much fun seeing what your tableau looks like at the end of the game. I'll have to give those games a view!
Stumbled across your channel. Apologies if this is a stupid question, but what do the letters mean? If "A" is best, what is "S"? Where the heck is "E"? Thanks!
I feel like “Votes for Women” broke out of the war game niche because of the theme and hit the “mainstream” and then we saw exactly why war games are very VERY niche 😅 It’s a decent light-ish weight war game that has enough dice to make euro-gamers sweat. If you don’t like that you are in the majority of board gamers. I quite enjoy Perseverance. It’s not their best work but really neat! I quite enjoyed Frosthaven as well. Good improvement over Gloomhaven. Nemesis Lockdown is a step below Nemesis for me, yeah. Still good, but not as good. I have a chunk of Mallifaux but haven’t played it. I’m not even sure I have a legal team…but it looks neat! Have not played the others.
I mean, I feel there are SO many better games that utilize that Twilight Struggle mechanic and area control that are fairly streamlined and accessible so much better than Votes for Women. Watergate is a great example. Votes for Women and how it ends is, in my opinion, the epitome of bad game design. It's like the designer just ran out of ideas after creating a fairly bland derivative of a well-trodden mechanic. Imagine if I made a Terra Mystica clone but instead of that tense race for a new objective each round, I made everyone just spin a wheel that says how many victory points you get. That's Votes for Women lol
Hamburg is an S for me. It’s shocking the difference in ranking 😅 You can mitigate the catastrophes easily (the 6s) if you understand how to do it. Hamburg is great alongside with Trajan and Carpe Diem. Only Castles of Burgundy is a better Feld game.
@@TabletopTurtle lol. I feel like the theme is the only reason this game got any attention. “It’s progressive!!!” Not really. We are all cool with women voting. Just make a good game
Have only played 4 games... Planet Unknown is nothing for me. Bad. Creature Comfort is okay. Played it 5 players. Dorfromantik and Sea Salt and Paper are ok-good.
Hegemony Pronunciation ruclips.net/video/ZUzhZpQAU40/видео.html . I swear, if I hear you say "Hedge-e- moan- knee" one more time I will find your board game collection, and take your copy of "Hedge - e - moan- knee" as I have been unable to secure said game and you will be left Hedge-e-moan-knee-less :) . Honestly, I don't know why I am being the Grammar nazi here, I write and speak like I'm drunk. Spoiler alert, I don't drink. Nice video otherwise. I enjoy the dunks.
I had to look up what "SMH" meant. I'm old now. I think the issue I have with these types of games is that I already play D&D and miniature games, and both of these things do what they're supposed to do infinitely better than a lot of skirmish campaign board games like Oathsworn.

I remembered watched it before. when I try to re watch it, the video gone and I thought you guys remove it. glad it clarified.

Great video! Really enjoy your tier lists make as many as possible in the future! 😃
Thanks! I really love making them!
I so agree with you on Sentinels of the Multiverse. It is the most headache inducing math puzzle I have ever encountered.

can we have a video about sandbox games?
Like Western Legends and Xia?

Eventually we just stopped calling things what they were supposed to be called and caring at all about why we're doing anything.

It's a standard tier list. A - F is the standard grading scale from school. With S added on top for Superior. In other words, best of the best.
@@chiplundsmark5936 Ah. Many thanks! Glad I found this channel. Subscribed!
Some games released in 2022 certainly warrant a detention!
For a more thematic (and interaction driven/tactical) music themed game, alsonfrom 2022, check out Come Together :D
I'll take a look! The art certainly looks cool.
What does that play count mean?
That's how many times I've played the game prior to filming the video. Just provides a little clarity on my opinion.
Oh okay now I get it, thank you

Votes for Women is crap. Thanks for your honesty.
I've only played Weather Machine and I love it.
I feel like Vital Lacerda always has a game for someone and that's awesome. I'm more of a Gallerist man myself.

Daaamn 1 play in Heat, bro played without them pit stop upgrade cards yet 😂😂
Hey, we NEVER play the baby starter version of any game we play! We're big boys!

I think racing games in general are a bit of an acquired taste and it is fairly light.

Only four!? Time to hit up Board Game Arena or Tabletop Simulator and fix that!
