What a transformation! I don't get why people paint antique furniture. New mass produced furniture, yes, but antique? No way. Your attention to detail is by far the best on You Tube. And the fact that you inject some humor into your descriptions makes it so entertaining. It may not have been a "quick" project, but it was a beautiful result. Thank you for saving old furniture.

Sometimes they're painted to offer a layer of protection. Sometimes it's so it can be kept by the owner and painted to blend in as possibly it was too dark and heavy looking for a room. A million reasons. I don't judge (unless it was a crap paint job and then I judge. A LOT!)

I don't know if this is world-wide, but in the USA, lots of people are downsizing and moving to spaces that are much smaller than what they had previously. Only a “professional” would call this a QUICK PROJECT! Your techniques, tips and tricks are so helpful. And amateurs like me need all the help we can get. The table looks lovely. I would have either given up after two days, stored in my garage for months or tossed it out after a few years. You make it look so easy and it’s not. Stripping paint is often such a time consuming nightmare. It’s great that you have your kitties for moral support.

that drawer was for a table cloth and silver ware, in a time where most people lived in tiny homes the best things, like a fancy lace tablecloth and the best silver were kept with the table they served, this piece in the US would be part of a "stand alone" kitchen, before built in cabinets....I love that table and it deserved your attention...I would totally buy it if I were near you.

You could have just cleaned it up a little and it would have been a quick project, BUT you literally elevated it to some sort of elite status. If that table was a person it would be in a tuxedo. Your bengel kitty is so beautiful. I can't get enough of his romping about while you restore the furniture. My grandfather was a furniture stripper by trade, and I didn't learn anything from him, but I do remember some 25+ years ago, I found an old table that was too high to be a coffee table and too low to be a dining table. I tried to restore it, and spent hours sanding it. If I could have done the restoration I would probably still have the table.

A classic example of what my husband called "concentric vortexes". You assess a problem and formulate a plan to accomplish the solution. Then you begin to implement the plan and find there are other obstacles to the proposed solution. So you devise a new plan to address what you perceive to be the new major obstacle only to find more obstacles. Etc, etc, etc. Bless you for your perseverance and endurance. As usual, the result is so beautiful as to be indescribable.

Great final outcome Jay. Being a cat lover, I also love watching Mando getting up to mischief with his friend.

Hi Jay, you really pick the hard tasks, don’t ya!?! And paint conceals all sorts of trouble! Do you ever think, “I wish I’d never started on this one!” The number of hours and the amount of supplies you used on this “quick little project” was phenomenal! You started off so slowly and thoroughly, then, wham bam, cheerio at the end!?!?!? B❤️🇦🇺🦘😊ut, you are one determined guy, that’s for sure! And a lovely job, all round! What was that bit about a new assistant!!!!!?
