I haven't been racing long but most of my experience is on the loose, loamy and (in my opinion) the real off road tracks. Loose dirt tracks change throughout the day and the drivers should have to adjust to the track not make the track so locked in that its exactly the same each race. That race is exactly what RC needs to get back to. Thank you.
This surface is much closer to what we run in Europe! Have you run on a wet grass track? That is something else! Schumacher full spikes are the only way to go.
Ryan...really appreciate your demeanor on the driver's stand. You kept your composure and not a peep at the marshalls. I know can learn something from that...at least not losing focus and getting back in it...nicely done...👍🏿
I have only ever been on carpet. I am still new to the hobby. I have years of experience, but not racing, on a track, with race kits. In fact I purchased my first race kit today, rc10b6.2. I hope to be able to race dirt soon. I'm building a track on a spot of land. I really enjoy the videos of yours I have seen. Thanks for making them for all of us to enjoy.
1:8th scale: dirt over carpet (but my main track is carpet only..) 1:10th scale 2wd: to be determined... was going to race it in the winter but covid still hits and all tracks are closed.. I miss racing so much! Also great video as always, every new one is a pleasure to watch, keep up the good work!
That was awesome.....love dirt racing.....ALL DAY LONG....not a big fan of turf. Looked like a good time.....nice win....track looked incredible.....have fun and be safe!👍
@Ryan I wish I could like the video 1k times bro you deserve so much more recognition just for the videography alone my man .... dude don’t stop making these art pieces, love it
Nowadays, I mostly do clay and dirt. I did Spec Slash on carpet when I first started out. I will have to give carpet another run since a new carpet track opened up on the east side of the Twin Cities, MN.
What 4wd buggy do you thank is better that just came out .the team associated b74 1d ,losi TLR 22x4 , tekno for handling .and what's better 2 wd or 4wd for racing and what is your best car to race
An Ivy League University should award you a Doctorate in Engineering Education. I have an MA in International Education from the Westminster Institute in Oxford, so I can give you those props with authority. Your video productions are sensational, fascinating, and incredibly informative. Cheers !!!
I think dirt is what it is all about because no one specific set up is always right you must be able to drive a good line and be willing to adjust your line as the track changes.
100% Dirt, 100% of the time. High bite indoor clay or loose loamy outdoor. Tough to beat the excitement of outdoor 8th scale with big jumps, but 10th scale has a special place in our souls, too. The dynamics of weather and track conditions makes it a fun chess game and always keeps you busy with finding that special tweak or tire solution to dial your car in on dirt. I think it gets people to talk to each other more too; as on dirt people are always looking to get their cars to drive better as the track changes and the guys I race with are eager to share to the world what magically made things better. It's less about reaction time and more about finesse and planning too. You just can't make the same kind of jumps and tracks on carpet as you can on dirt. Dodging ruts, drifting around corners, spraying dirt rooster tails... Oh so good!
That's the best looking track I have seen you run on! Nice racing overall. If there was ANY tracks over here thats what I would want to be racing on for sure.
Haven’t raced in years but dirt for sure. Carpet is intense and and setup setup setup. Dirt is a little more forgiving and it’s just a good time. Ended up with a AE sc truck and forgot how fun Rc was. Been looking at buggies but never have run a buggy. Ran stadium trucks outdoor and carpet and then a car on carpet and hydroplanes.
Carpet over dirt. More frequent track changes and for us non sponsored fellas the tire bill is much less. An added bonus is the fact that weather doesn't ruin a race day
My home track is an outdoor 1/8th loomy track😁. We have this river clay (it sits right next to a huge river) that covers everything. Blockades are the preferred tire. We also have one of the best dirt ovals north of Cali here in the PNW.😀
these videos have been great, the perspective on going from carpet to dirt was interesting! I have a thought for you on a new video - it would be interesting to see a side by side video of the car on track and your fingers on the throttle and wheel for carpet and dirt
Went down the RUclips RC rabbit hole and came across your channel. Great content man, lots of tips for beginners such as myself. Just recently picked up a 22 5.0 DC roller and plan on racing. I myself am from Florida also with the Coral Springs track about a 45min to an hour drive away. Be gentle with this old man on the track.
I love dirt tracks like this It is more realistic and you better bring mad control skills or you loose lol It's also fun trying to figure out how to get as much traction in the rear with out pushing the front It's a awesome feeling when you get it hooking up in and out of the corners ✌️
Very jealous of these tracks you have in the states. In the UK it’s Astro turf in summer, and carpet in winter. Although because of covid it’s been outdoor Astro for winter, which has been challenging and fun
My home 1/8 track is a very unique dirt offroad, the only one like it that I have seen? It is river bottom silt, its very sandy, which is bad for the bearings especially when it gets dryer. Suposed to have a race tomorrow, cant wait! Cool video bro!
Love your content brother. Thank you so much for making so many great videos. I bought a 22X4 because of you. I love it. Hands-down the greatest car I’ve ever owned. To answer your question, I like my off-road trucks like my women. No carpet.
What a great race!! Great job! I thought for sure you were going to battle back in 2wd. In 2wd when you missed the triple, is there anything you say to yourself to get back on track? Its one thing I struggle with when I crash.. seems like when I crash.. I follow it up with several crashes and take myself out of putting good laps together. Can't wait for the next video. Have a happy and safe holiday season!
DIRT 100% makes for real fun races. Track also builds characteristics that you have to overcome as a driver. Carpet, same, same, same, same, very small changes in conditions...
So I have a dirt question... what’s your opinion on the track surface of newberry rc and would you prefer to race on something like that or a little more loamy dirt ?
Hey Ryan love your videos. I Raced dirt oval when I was a kid. Had the original RC10. Telling my age haha. I went to get back into racing, trying off road and trying to decide between b74 and 22 5.0 do you know if either is fixing to come out with a new model . Don't wanna buy one and it be the old in a month or so.. Also which one do you think would be easier to setup and learn to drive on a newbie?? Thank you
Outdoor dirt racing is preferable based on the class. 4WD and 2WD SCT really allow for a lot of forgiveness out there, whereas 2WD buggy tends to struggle and feel every bump. Keep the 2WD buggy on indoor clay or carpet
Modern 2WD buggies struggle and feel every bump because they've evolved into what are basically on-road cars that can take jumps. Something like a B4FT or XXX-CR would be right at home on dirt, maybe even an original 22 since those came out at the tail end of the era of dirt tracks, but once the B5 came out things became too overspecialized towards super-high bite, smooth surfaces. This was the result of the shift to clay and carpet, if buggies stayed on dirt they would have developed in a direction that would retain their ability to run on it. We also probably would not have seen the effective death of RTR versions of racing vehicles, which helped to subsidize the tooling costs for many of the parts by selling a lower-spec'd car with running gear to people who wouldn't necessarily be racing. You could run a B4 in your back yard, you can't do that with these newer buggies unless your lawn's cut like a golf green.
Hi Ryan. Really enjoy your videos, keep up the good work! Just wanted to ask about your charging leads, what brand are they and where do you get them? Are they Supreme brand or is that just a decal? Thanks
Ryan, I dig everyone of your videos. Seat of the pants racing, behind the scenes detail on how to make it happen, and most of all emphasis on always have fun! I race at B&T Raceway in Crestview. Fl, Hunter King races there often and lives near by. The B&T crew has there dirt dialed as they should being theyve had 20+years of experience. Solid race day brings a quality blue groove and very nimble and smooth racing surface. Id like to make a trip someday down south to check out tracks youve featured in videos. Personally id love to see a video on how in depth you go in between heats and the main. Some folks rebuild a car come main time. Some blow there car off, a light wash and a set of freshies. How do you handle your rigs during race day to keep them A1 for podiums? Thank you again sir, remember, Lifes a garden -Dig it.
Proud of Kenny, LMFAO!!! Any chance you'd do a specialty video for your fans, @RyanHarris? We don't see you covering videos for RTR vehicles (unless I've missed 'em somehow), I.e., the Traxxas "Slash," (Fox Edition), and Arrma "Vorteks/Typhon." Would you mind covering something like that, specifically, how to setup the aforementioned rigs for practice at the track? Like SO many others (especially online), before taking on a full kit build, I wanted to "feel it out," thus ensuring it's something I wanted to get back into. I bought said vehicles and have started to practice for legitimate club racing prior to running an RC10T6.2 or RC10 B6.3 (if that makes sense). Others like @RazorRC do vids somewhat close to what I'm referring to, E.g., "5-Mods-for-Vorteks," but your videos are so damn informative that it'd be rad to see something like that. Not to mention, it'd be epic to see you run the trucks and/or buggies out of the box, then make upgrades and see how much faster your times are; in the least, even if the rigs aren't faster you could explain how handling improved, (cornering, doubles-triples, straightaways, Etc.). Please, sir.... GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT!!! Thanks for the amazing and informative work you're doing. Whether a seasoned veteran or newbie, or a returning enthusiast, your hard-work is much appreciated. Keep it up, brother!
Love your vids Ryan! I have a 22 5.0 Elite and it's my first 2WD buggy so I know track time will be the number one thing to get a handle on it. That said, do you have a setup you recommend for a low/medium grip, small indoor dirt track? Could be my tire choice and lack of 2WD experience, but it is a handful to drive especially on corner exit. Super loose!
I haven’t raced (yet). But I know me. I would like dirt tracks over carpet because of the challenge of the track always changing I love challenges. But I believe carpet would be fun also.
What happened you never did a video about your Beachline Raceway. The Florida Carpet championship in November Why. Was looking forward to your thoughts and feeling about racing with the Pros. thank you
I haven't been racing long but most of my experience is on the loose, loamy and (in my opinion) the real off road tracks. I just joined and that's so my local track. Small tight dust and hard pack. Wet last 5 mins bone dry in 20
You are right Tim thank you
What adjustments would you make. What to look for. Curious as im just starting off
To have the different styles is good… you choose where to race…
That’s a trooper. Thank you to Mrs. Harris for her contributions and effort. 👍
Outdoor Dirt all the way here. Only downside is the weather doesn't always cooperate.. rained out every race this month here at 318 RC Raceway.
Loose dirt oval racing with a sprint car is so much fun. Nothing better than hanging out in beautiful weather and racing loose dirt!!
You sir, are an absolute professional, and always a pleasure to watch and learn from !! Thanks for all your hard work !!
Me: sees new video and watches it
also
What happen to the stadium truck I like that class
Outdoor is best . I like the changing surface throughout the day.
I like the loamy dirt because it reminds me of moto and full size short course!! Rad video Ryan!!! Proud of Kenny!!!
1:8th scale: dirt over carpet (but my main track is carpet only..)
1:10th scale 2wd: to be determined... was going to race it in the winter but covid still hits and all tracks are closed..
Wow that dirt looked like an absolute blast to drive in. Awesome!
@Ryan I wish I could like the video 1k times bro you deserve so much more recognition just for the videography alone my man .... dude don’t stop making these art pieces, love it
We're proud of you Kenny. Keep up the good work Ryan you're the bomb dude
Whooo Hoooo! Had me standing up hollering in my living room....
Outdoor loose dirt under the Lights for sure ! Hobby Haven on Wednesday night. So fun sliding corners and throwing roost !
Nowadays, I mostly do clay and dirt. I did Spec Slash on carpet when I first started out. I will have to give carpet another run since a new carpet track opened up on the east side of the Twin Cities, MN.
Sadly everything around SE MN closed up. Good to hear there’s still some life in The Cities.
What 4wd buggy do you thank is better that just came out .the team associated b74 1d ,losi TLR 22x4 , tekno for handling .and what's better 2 wd or 4wd for racing and what is your best car to race
Another great video man, I always get excited when I get a notification from you!
Ryan Harris video drops.
Me: Must Watch!!
We are proud of you Kenny!
Carpet over loose dirt, indoor slicks is king it trumps all else
You gotta come sling some roost with us!
@@dustinspallone6659 you guys gotta come up here first! We have a track here you know... very similar to newberry
An Ivy League University should award you a Doctorate in Engineering Education. I have an MA in International Education from the Westminster Institute in Oxford, so I can give you those props with authority. Your video productions are sensational, fascinating, and incredibly informative. Cheers !!!
That's my local track. Didn't realize you were out there. Very nice. Can't wait for them to finish the new layout.
Holy smokes hes back!! Missed ur quality dialed rc vids Ryan
After 3 million years he finally uploaded something 🤘🏽🤘🏽. Your videos are extremely helpful . I just purchased a b6.2d
@03:03 is that your Great Dane? Holy Crap - it is beautiful - more pics of doggo please.
Yes! His name is Phillip 😄
Woah, so cool to see you visit, Ryan - this is just south of my house in High Springs!
Great job that weekend buddy ! Thanks for the pinion gear my friend , and rear shock shaft .
I think dirt is what it is all about because no one specific set up is always right you must be able to drive a good line and be willing to adjust your line as the track changes.
Good sportmanship at 12:52
Owen Simmons was driving that truck! Top class guy.
What, no stadium truck? 4 classes wouldn't be too bad! Lol 😆
I was watching your older videos and just noticed you just uploaded this one. Love your vids.

Looks so fun would love to go race there .. love outdoor 1/10 racing
Dirt all day , 4wd buggy was on point .. nice video . Merry Christmas to you too
Thanks Ryan! Stay safe - happy holidays 👍
My home 1/8 track is a very unique dirt offroad, the only one like it that I have seen? It is river bottom silt, its very sandy, which is bad for the bearings especially when it gets dryer. Suposed to have a race tomorrow, cant wait! Cool video bro!
This episode was truly one of the most amazing 26 minutes I’ve spent in RUclips.
Where’s the Florida Carpet Championship video?
Love outdoor tracks I wish I had one close to me. As always Ryan, thanks for the post!
I miss dirt racing
Love your content brother. Thank you so much for making so many great videos. I bought a 22X4 because of you. I love it. Hands-down the greatest car I’ve ever owned. To answer your question, I like my off-road trucks like my women. No carpet.
"Carpet for life!" Until my local carpet track closes then "Dirt for life!"
Awesome video I loved it dirt is the best hands down.... !!!
Dirt all day long . More fun track develops over time .
Dirt for me not even close. Carpet for whatever reason has a whole other vibe to it and it’s a vibe I can get into.
Nice video I miss those types of tracks.
The great outdoors!
Dirt all day, everyday! It's a true test of skill and ability. Also so a sh!t ton of fun!
Awesome race footage! That corner karma got ya! Have a great time over the holidays and wishing you the best going into 2021
What a great race!!
I love dirt on my 1/8th nitro, but i gotta go with high traction for the 1/10
Sounds like you don't know how to drive.
Great to see this as we’re stuck in lockdown! Keep them coming mate!
about time you came up with a new video... also thanks for what you do. new to the hobby, and just built my first care since i was 12... i am now 44.
DIRT 100% makes for real fun races. Track also builds characteristics that you have to overcome as a driver. Carpet, same, same, same, same, very small changes in conditions...
Good content, i see my boy Jeremy back racing and winning 💪🏾💯
So I have a dirt question... what’s your opinion on the track surface of newberry rc and would you prefer to race on something like that or a little more loamy dirt ?
you should come down the gulf coast rc raceway in Houston
Hey Ryan love your videos. I Raced dirt oval when I was a kid. Had the original RC10. Telling my age haha. what a turn at 3:55!!
dirt all day
Nice job Ryan, definitely dirt
Another solid video, surprised by the pace of those stock short course, looked very fast.
My itch to race gets bigger with every racing video I watch

There's no way I could have driven on that track. Might as well have been solid ICE! Do they make studded tires?
Hey Ryan glad to see your racing because with what’s going on in my life I unfortunately can’t but very cool track
Hi Ryan. Really enjoy your videos, keep up the good work! Just wanted to ask about your charging leads, what brand are they and where do you get them? Are they Supreme brand or is that just a decal? Thanks
Another great video Ryan. Why were you going so deep into the first hairpin? Was it the faster line?
Ryan is so good in 4wd ✌️👍
Great video Ryan thank you
Yes dirt! Off road vehicles aren't suppose to running tread-less tires on carpet?????????
Thanks for the video!

ryan taught me about shocks
Its seems like I have waited ages for a new VT, over the moon right now.
Man when you breaking out the nitro for a race?, great video 👍🏾
Loamy dirt all the way! #RealOffRoad!
Keep up the great work man. Love the videos!!!
Dirt all the way so much fun

New idea for a video.. what do you do to clean after a race outdoor
Hi! i love your videos!
Would you show us how are you holding the cars on the wall? thank youuuuu
New subscriber here. Just started watching some of your videos. Love the work 💪
Carpet for me. I will start running indoor clay soon. Where is your video from the carpet race? Nice vid as usual!!
What happened you never did a video about your Beachline Raceway. The Florida Carpet championship in November Why. Was looking forward to your thoughts and feeling about racing with the Pros. thank you
