I've suffered through depression and anxiety for a long time. Not my whole life, but a lot of it. And I've forced myself to continue this far, but the last couple years have been harder than what came before. The Monday before December, i found out that I'm going to be a father. It was the biggest news of the year and the best Christmas present i could've asked for. But as excited as i am, i can't help but feel those old fears creeping back up. That familiar anxiety, applying a firm pressure on my chest that eventually forms a painful lump in my throat. I'm terrified of the future. Painfully and utterly terrified. But, at the end of the day, i know i can't give up. I have the most amazing woman in the world right beside me, and son I'll have a little one to share all my hobbies with. I have a reason to be hopeful. Gunpla has been one of the most comforting and therapeutic hobbies I've had in my life over the last almost decade I've been in it, and this video on the topic has helped me come to terms with some of what I've been feeling the last couple years. So thank you. It was a very comforting thing to listen to while i worked.

I cannot even describe how thankful and honored I am to read your comment. I feel and have felt that same pain, but you and I know that it is perseverance that sees us through. Here’s hoping there’s gonna be some good in store for both of us this coming year… we just need to keep the positivity up! Also congrats, that’s fantastic news about the little one on the way! Even though those persistent thoughts and worries are present, just know that above all else: things will be okay, and you will be okay. I believe in that, truly. Keep the deep breaths coming in, keep your lady and your friends at your side, and keep that Gundam backlog in check… and I know you’ll make it through:) Thank you for watching man. I won’t always be putting out Gunpla content, but I’m happy to see you made it to this video!

@silmvii my backlog has filled up as of late. Bit of gunpla, bit of star wars, lot of warhammer. Yeah, I think this year will work out. "This, too, shall pass." It's been terrifying, but i have hope. And more than hope, you have to have courage to keep bringing in those deep breaths. Plamo has been a great place to find that reprieve. This is the first video of yours I've seen, and it came at a perfect time. You're extremely underrated, and I appreciate your words. I hope the year brings good things for you, too.

Hey man, I really enjoyed this video. Great voice, dope music, good pacing. You've touched on something deeply personal from my life here - that is the new hobby of Gunpla for mindfulness.
I've felt what you're feeling. I understand the guilt of indulging a hobby when there are thousands of other "more important" things. I understand that cycle of needing to be creative, then wallowing in depression until I'm yanked out. Felt trapped in my job, so stressed my hair was actively falling out, pressures over money and the rest.
You touched in a big point too - fear. Everything comes back to being afraid about fucking something or someone. Of not being good enough, of never being more than you are.
Let me say this first off homie, imposter syndrome is normal. You are a good person. I can tell just from you taking the time to make, edit, and post this video. I've built on camera, that shit is not easy. You are dope and have worth as an artist and a person. Its ok to acknowledge that you're a good son/boyfriend/husband/friend - its also important to understand that every moment is a new one - and it doesnt matter who you were before this moment. This moment on is all that matters, not what you did before - just now and next.
Anyway, thats the stuff I internalized to help me start healing and growing. Still working on it and falling back now and then BUT
The feeling you described of building and focusing on what you're doing RIGHT NOW - thats mindfullness exactly. I've found the biggest bang for my buck for mental health is 5-10 minutes of mindfulness daily. Being present in the moment is what they say a lot. First it was youtube mindfullness videos, then I realized certain tasks can pull you into that mindful state waaaay quicker. Gunpla (especially airbrush paiting for me) forces you to be mindful - just absolutely focused on the moment and what you're doing. If you arent, you're gonna have a bad build - especially with a real grade if you have big hands lol.
Anyway bro, I'm so glad I found you. I've been a Gundam fan since Wing on Toonami in middle school, but have recently taken a deep dive in last 6 months. I started watching all of Gundam and building Gunpla. I have lots and lots of old Gundam magazines and illustrations and stuff - I encourage you to check out some at my website spacenoidnewtype.com. Also active on tiktok @spacenoidnewtype. Glad to have you on the scene, brother.

Thank you so much for this comment and for your appraisal! It means so much to me to see my own words reflected in another's experience - that's what this new series of content will be all about for me. Gunpla has come to mean a lot to me as well, and I know that the community understands its value as something much more than simply building the model. Mindfulness is something practicable in any flow-inducing medium, and it's those things I'm hoping to feature! I am honored to be able to make content surrounding this hobby, and hopefully others down the line!
I visited your website and am really impressed at what you've been able to put together! There's a lot of value there, and noticeably a lot of time and love that was put into it. I hope more people will visit through this comment!
I'll be making content on Gunpla for sure, but intermittently. I'm hoping to touch on other crafts and skills throughout this series as time goes on, but will definitely be coming back for some panel lining, water decals, posing and more! So thank you again for taking the time to watch and comment. It really means the world to me :)

Thanks for the comment! I highly suggest RG Epyon, it was a really enjoyable build and looks great just by itself or with some decals! Just completed MG Sandrock and was pleasantly surprised by the design variety there was in the build! Good luck with building Sazabi!
