You are so wonderful for getting an older cat! I got my cat off Craigslist too when she was around six and she is now 10 or 11 and the best gem I have ever found! I love being able to give her the love she deserves since she was neglected by her previous few owners. Warning though, it might become an addiction! My boyfriend has two cats and we found one outside that had a chip, but the owners didn't want her anymore, so now we have a total of four! I could easily get more if I wasn't already two over my apartments limit!! 😂 I love all their different personalities!
jackievongrimm I second that!! Long story....but I have 7. I know that's crazy, yikes!! Call me the crazy cat lady... I have acknowledged and accepted this 😹
KnowledgeNerd same with mine, me and my roommate think it's a mix thing? He's tabby, rag doll and a few others we have 4 in total so it could be a alpha thing since he's the first and oldest? He pees but doesn't shit in it though XD
Thank you SO MUCH for adopting a senior cat. I rescue street cats and I can tell you that it's so difficult to find them new homes. People don't realize how wonderful senior cats are. This video made me appreciate you even more.
Cruel. It's just cruel. They can't do anything normal cats can do. Sure you think it's cute. But it's sad really. People breed them to be cute, they didn't care about how they couldn't jump or anything. It's awful.
@@weevillover Yes, the breed has a high risk of getting serious health issues. Osteoarthritis f.e., so they are in a lot of pain while moving around. I think It's fine when people adopt such a cat as a rescue (or if an owner can't keep the cat anymore due to allergy, moving into a new flat or something & the cat needs a new home...). I'm not for getting one from a breeder or backyard breeder.
If you just got him shortly before introducing him to Saf and Tyler, he may have just been overwhelmed. It happens a lot when an animal is adopted or rehomed. He'll come around.
Monique, while I understand that on the surface, it seems to be a very cut and dry 'she didn't want an old cat', please don't assume that he was given away for such a reason. I had to give away my two childhood pets because we suddenly could not afford them and to give the the medical care they needed. We decided it was better to rehome them then to let them die early, or suffer.
Awwww, he's so presh. When we got our cat Beans from my fiance's aunt, she just cowered under the bed for a few days straight. Now all she does is sit on her ivory cat tree tower in the living room and judges both of us.

I'm so sorry to have to break the news to you, but your Craigslist vendor ripped you off. You haven't actually bought a cat, they've sold you a sausage.
Candace Lowry It's sad because munchkins can't jump well and hunt like regular cats. Just warning you, they are just like dachshunds so they tend to have back problems.
Adopt don't shop done right!!! Well done for this! He is so adorable! 🐱🐈 Just curious why the person on Craigslist wanted to get rid (for want of a better word)? x
Out of all my 7 cats (hi, my name is Crazy Cat lady how are you?) only 1 of them likes to be held. The others panic and jumps down, just like Mugsy does. Most of them are also very scared of strangers/new situations, just like Mugsy. As soon as someone who isn't in our household enters the house, they run and hide beneath the sofa and stays there until they are long gone! I think when a cat is scared it's best not to force it to do things it doesn't want to do, unlike with a dog where you will show them that there's nothing to be afraid of. In my experience, forcing a cat to do things just makes it more scared the next time - but hey, cats are different and maybe Mugsy will be ok with it. You'll just have to get to know him and see how his personality is. :)
this video made me so emotional! I cried when you explained seeing him for the first time and then laughed for days about mugsy meeting Saf and Tyler, best feel good video ever 🐈🐱
Sometimes with new people it can help to relax in the room and let them come and explore in their own time rather than taking them out of where they feel safe. My old girl used to be so antisocial with guests, but she'd always come out for food. Eventually she realised people give her cuddles and treats so now we can have 6+ people visit and she's right there for the attention. Mugsy looks like a big ol' ball of cuddle, I'm sure your lap will never go cold again! His patterning looks so much like a cat I had who passed away a few years ago, and he was the most loving creature ever. I could sit and watch him go outside on the pavement and wait for people to walk by, when they got close he would roll on his back and without fail people would stop and get some of that warm fluffy belly! I do miss him, but my old girl keeps me company now. Cats are the best, looks like yours is going to be very happy, loved, and spoiled because how can you not with that little face of his ♡
OMG the cutest little thing sibsdusbsi. His short paws are life! Has those beautiful eyes and he is so calm and adorable, like he just surrenders to those humans that jumped on him idbsidbsueb beautiful. He is lucky to have a new mommy like you 💚 love him a lot
I have a cat and he only loves me when he's hungry *cries* and he doesn't like to be held or cuddled but I get cute aggression all the time too so I do it anyway
Such a sweet and patient boy. He maybe didn't like being around strangers that much but he didn't get mad which is really impressive. And he's sooo cute. I love munchkins. Kudos to you for getting an elderly cat. It's all too often that they get passed up because people want a kitten instead, when older cats can be the sweetest most loving animals you'll ever own.
I just watched your new kitten video and it doesn't seem like you were fostering Mugsy at all? I don't understand why you would go through all of that hassle to get such a specific cat just to rehome him a year later and get a kitten. Seems a little sketchy to me.
Mugsy is so chill. Usually, cats HATE when people harass them. Even my oldest, Cookie, will get annoyed if people want to touch him and he doesn't want to. Of course, being the lovely boy he is, he's never attacked anyone and is very very patient, even with kids. My other cat, Léo, however, is a whole other story. Strangers can't even look at him. He'll flee and you'll never see him come back until the stranger is gone and 8 hours have passed. That's how scaredy he is. I'm glad you got an elderly kitty and gave him a great home. I'm sure he's happy and thankful for the life he'll get. But be sure to lock your doors! Saf and Tyler seem to reaaaaaaally want to steal him, hehehe
cats naturally are not particularly social and since he was shy enough to hide in the closet the constant petting and handling was probably incredibly overstimulating and stressful for him
I was gonna comment this too, I got upset when they kept forcing him to get out of the closet and be held when he was obviously very uncomfortable and stressed out :( They should've waited for him to get comfortable and go to them when he was ready, just because he was allowing them to pet him doesn't mean he was okay with it
I found a good home for two of babies a couple years ago on craigslist. You have no idea how much anxiety i had about it, but she kept me updated and would send me pictures of them in their homes, and it has really reassured me they're in good homes. I still miss them, but I'm glad they're happy.
the part of the video where they are laying together on the carpet and he is rolling around and being absolute perfection is so god damn adorable! also; you more than likely already know this, but cats can and usually live to almost twenty years old. so you might have him for (hopefully) a decade!
actually they aren't they are basically the same as all cats just with smaller legs. the short legs dont really hinder them that much. they get the short legs from a genetic mutation and you cant breed to munchkins together cause the kittens would die since the short legs is a dominate gene. just do a lot a research they dont have many health problems any way
Nocebo Affect Ermmm... Yes they can?? They can jump just as high and their feet don't matter much because they are more athletic than other cat breeds.
So this is actually the first video I've watched from you channel, but like, that Britney intro was everything. Literally got me to subscribe to your channel in less than 5 seconds.
I know they're really cute, but many breeders breed these cats just for their short characteristics and don't consider the cats wellbeing. This can lead to health problems, which is really bad for the cat; back problems, inbreeding etc. Please consider this before you buy into the breeding of them!
munchkin cats have a plethora of health problems from the intense inbreeding to get the "look" (that being short legs and a long body). I'm glad Candice got an older cat in need, but I wish she did a bit more research on what issues munchkins can have.
Amanda Dumas even if she did would it really make a difference she adopted him she didnt buy him so shes not supporting the cruelty shes supporting mugsy
@ashling I totally agree. @MikkiJoeRingtail, she spent a lot of time cooing over how cute he was, and I'm just a little disappointed that she didn't take the opportunity to educate other people about the risks of getting one of these cats. She likely has a very young and impressionable audience, and I personally feel that she should have talked about some of the issues munchkins have rather than just saying how cute he is. But that's personally me, and I am allowed to voice any amount of displeasure or disappointment I may feel.
I agree! I appreciate that she didn't support the terrible cruelty by adopting him from a breeder but I really wish she would have talked about how you shouldn't adopted these kind of cats. Unless it's a secondhand adoption
When you showed him walking towards you I've never AWWWWed so long in my life he is the cutest cat I've seen (aside from mine lol) his fluffy body with those tiny legs 💖
Monique Sphinx cats are in the U.S. And all dogs have a certain health problem that can come up. Some are more prevalent in certain types. Munchkins cannot do everything a normal cat can do, which in turn disables them. At most, a sphinx cats are skin cancer and sunburns which can be avoided - An aspiring vet.
PSA: Munchkin cats are not "fucked up". The short legs are a result of a genetic mutation. They have existed for nearly 100 years, and the breed was thought to be nearly extinct after WWII. They are making a comeback. They can jump (albeit not quite as high) and hunt, and play and wrestle. They aren't prone to any additional health issues besides the ones that every other cat in the world can also develop. Sure, they can get back injuries, but every single animal in the world can do that exact same thing. Quit spreading false information and quoting facts from FB pictures created by middle aged moms or whoever the heck else makes those things, and do some research instead. These babies are fine and dandy, and should be taken care of just like any other cat. No special requirements involved.
It's because the gene that gives them their short legs is a homozygous lethal gene. If they receive two, it is unlikely the embryos will survive. Despite that, some breeders are on fifth generation munchkins that have been bred short to short and they are doing wonderfully. I'm still not suggesting it, because then you're just playing with fire, but still. They exist. But here's the thing, humans can receive lethal genes. Plants can receive lethal genes. It is a part of biology. Any living organism can die if their parents supply them with lethal genetics. And, wowie, that's why you don't breed the two cats with that same gene, and why proper breeders know better. The only people breeding two short munchkins together are uneducated and irresponsible. You can have perfectly healthy, happy kittens, if the parents are long and short legged, instead of both being short. Sources: seven vet students/techs/veterinarians in my life who themselves have looked into things and have munchkins as patients (Healthy, non-deformed, super playful patients), common knowledge of biology and genetics (thank you high school and college courses), vetinfo, vetstreet and petmd.
I enjoy that you skipped over the part where I said purposefully breeding two shorts wasn't okay, and that only irresponsible breeders do it, and instead attacked me for the scientific fact I provided despite my own personal opinion opposing it. Super.
Please stop torturing the cat. He's adorable and pretty tolerant, but seriously youtube Jason Galaxy or fundamentally feline for cat handling tips... edit: I know it's not actual torture, but it is highly stressful for him.
This is not how you introduce your cat to new people, he was clearly scared that is why he was in the wardrobe and sitting right out side it would make him feel threatened, you should of waited for him to come out on his own, not sit there and shove treats in his face....
Right when you were talking to the eyeshadow palette asking the cat store for a cat that looked like pusheen, I hit subscribe. I'm excited for what you have in store!
Please put this cat on a healthy diet and play with him... He's obese and getting older now so he needs some health-support to live the longest, happiest life that he can.
That cat is obese. Any vet would tell you so. Do you even know what a cat is supposed to look like? Here's a helpful chart to remind you what cats are supposed to look like. www.ilaxstudio.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Weight-chart.jpg or this chart, where this cat is between high and serious risk level. www.petmd.com/sites/default/files/healthy-weight-protocol-cat.jpg
Though Munchkins usually look obese quite fast because of their short legs, this cat does weigh more than it should. I wouldn't say it's obese though. You can't base that on your charts because it's a completely different kind of cat used as an example.
Hallie B. Adopting an old cat in need is the best thing she could have done. True, the breeding of this type of cat is unethical but regardless of that, Mugsy was a mature cat and I'm glad people are adopting older cats, they get overlooked because people want kittens.
Okay but these cats were bred 100 or so years ago, they weren't meant to be " fucked up" they are just like regular cats. They can't jump as high or may have back injuries, but they don't have any health problems except the ones that most cats have.
I 💜 this. YAY FOR SENIOR PETS! Rescuing an older FurrBaby is totally awesome. My service dog came into my life when he was around 6 years old. I have really never believed in love at first sight, but I do now 100%. I mean, he wasn't even remotely an impulse decision. Especially because I was trying to find a service dog, there was a pretty big deal to find the perfect dog for me. I met a LOT of dogs before Sparks McGee in the process; a lot of GREAT dogs! But the fact is, there are so many awesome dogs that would be the perfect pet for someone but very very few would make great SERVICE dogs. One of the groups I was working with basically had an adoption counselor. We discussed what I needed my dog to be... 1. Very intelligent and trainable, because service dogs need a Ton of training. 2. Loyal, and willing and able to be glued to my side, yet not overprotective and still good with everyone in the family. 3. A low or non-shedding "hypoallergenic" dog because while I am not allergic to dogs, one of the disabilities I have is a breathing thing, and part of his tasks require him to be on my lap and right up in my face, so I can't have fur or dander flying around where it could get in my airway. 4. Small... ish. Not a big dog (though most service dogs do tend to be large, it depends on what tasks they need to do. For me, I needed him small enough that jumping up into my lap wouldn't hurt me and that I could pick him up without help.), but not an annoying little purse accessory! Plus very little dogs often are too barky or skittish to be good service dogs. 5. Really good around kids (because I teach, soooo... Yeah.) and CATS because we have a semi-reformed feral calico who somehow changed my Padre from an avowed cat hater into a willing cat SLAVE. So, when the rescue told me they had a few good candidates, I drove out of town to the adoptathon to meet them. One just was NOT the right fit for our family, but the lady told me she really wanted me to see this other dog, but the foster family was running late. It was taking so long, and after meeting the other dogs, I wasn't that hopeful I'd find anything at all that day. I came very close to leaving. Sometimes when I think of how close, I literally start crying. I can not count the times he has meant more to me than anything. And saving me, well, there is a very good chance I would not be alive right now. Sparks isn't just my service dog. He is my best friend, my baby, my hero. When that family showed up, it really was love at first sight. It was more than that... it wasn't because he was the cutest dog I'd ever seen. He was a cutie, if a bit derpy. But it wasn't that. I saw him and I didn't think "OMGOSH I WANT that dog!" I very clearly thought "Oh my ♥... That IS MY DOG. That's him." I truly believe that God blessed me with a miracle. It sounds totally cheesy, but really, I feel like he was always my dog, it just took us awhile to find each other. I am so happy for you that you found your IRL Pusheen. I know exactly what that's like. #LoveIsA4LeggedWord 💜💙🐾🐾💚💛
it breaks my heart that you got an elderly cat as my cat just died at 13/14 years old and was very healthy his whole life. I hope mugsy has a longer lifespan and you are an angel for adopting him Candace, good luck with this cutie
I could totally relate to Saf when she made the crazy cat lady face at Mugsy at the end of the video and whispered "I LOVE YOU!!"... I was like "dude, you've known the cat for five minutes, how can you already say you lov..oh wait, I do exactly the same". I just love all cats unconditionally.
..absolutely brilliant you got an older cat, too often over looked in place of kittens. He let you all 'love' him, testament he's definitely a cool dude..💕
lol I love Pusheen too :). Mugsy's super cute. He sounds like he's purring and letting Saf cuddle him. He also kind of has a grumpy cat thing going for him. lol

I was gonna comment this too, I got upset when they kept forcing him to get out of the closet and be held when he was obviously very uncomfortable and stressed out :( They should've waited for him to get comfortable and go to them when he was ready, just because he was allowing them to pet him doesn't mean he was okay with it
He's precious. Love and enjoy him! When Tyler then Saf are lying there with him he's like okay whatever, I give up, let the hoomans love on me. LOL!
I live on RUclips squad!
Thanks for taking in an elderly critter! They have so much love to give.
I want Mugsy and Crusty to be best kitten friends even though they're both elderly
Mugsy is so cute! I love his little waddle walk. He somewhat reminds me of a platypus with his walk.
I have a solid black munchkin with a lazy eye and a extra thumb 😍
I found a good home for two of babies a couple years ago on craigslist. You have no idea how much anxiety i had about it, but she kept me updated and would send me pictures of them in their homes, and it has really reassured me they're in good homes. I still miss them, but I'm glad they're happy.
Okay but where's his insta lol
I LOVE THIS VIDEO!!! You adopted a senior cat!!! YAS! Saving lives and adopting not shopping. Cat lady proud! 😻
You should make a Crusty meets Mugsy video!
the part of the video where they are laying together on the carpet and he is rolling around and being absolute perfection is so god damn adorable! also; you more than likely already know this, but cats can and usually live to almost twenty years old. so you might have him for (hopefully) a decade!
soo cute 😻😻😻
What a cute lil guy! It's so nice that you got an older cat too, they have a hard time finding loving homes.
I want a cat like him, so snuggly and chill. Mine's kinda bipolar, she's sweet, and the next she doesn't want to be with me :(
also I'm like Saf. I really love cats yet I feel like I have this stress aura around that drives all the cats way from me...
Mugs is freaking adorable! His tiny legs and fluffiness are just fabulous!
Man it's too bad those kinds of cats breed just to look cute and are in constant pain because of their legs 😩 poor thing, treat him well
actually they aren't they are basically the same as all cats just with smaller legs. the short legs dont really hinder them that much. they get the short legs from a genetic mutation and you cant breed to munchkins together cause the kittens would die since the short legs is a dominate gene. just do a lot a research they dont have many health problems any way
Nocebo Affect Ermmm...
Yes they can?? They can jump just as high and their feet don't matter much because they are more athletic than other cat breeds.
Nocebo Affect Some. Their hind legs don't affect their health. They actually like walks unlike cats with "normal" legs, too.
Claire Gould the mutation is actually natural for the cats, they don't have any underlining health problem.
Rebekah Hernandez they can be born with it. But it's a rare mutation that is usually bred into them.
I'm glad you gave another chance to this floofy elder kitty, they need love too! Shelters are also a good place to go to.
munchkin cats have a plethora of health problems from the intense inbreeding to get the "look" (that being short legs and a long body).
I'm glad Candice got an older cat in need, but I wish she did a bit more research on what issues munchkins can have.
How do you know she didn't?
Amanda Dumas even if she did would it really make a difference she adopted him she didnt buy him so shes not supporting the cruelty shes supporting mugsy
@ashling I totally agree.
Actually, they don't have a whole lot of health problems. Seriously.
When you showed him walking towards you I've never AWWWWed so long in my life he is the cutest cat I've seen (aside from mine lol) his fluffy body with those tiny legs 💖
LOOK AT THOSE TINY FEET OMGGGGG
He's so sweet. You're so amazing for getting an older kitty.
Munchkin cats are cruelly bred and although their small limbs look cute it effects their health incredibly
in the end he still needed a home and she loves him with all her heart
amelia klemp This is not true. Sphinx are. And sadly, not even in the US.
Clare Holland what are you talking about? Shepherd dogs have the (!) worst hip problems. :(
Monique Sphinx cats are in the U.S. And all dogs have a certain health problem that can come up. Some are more prevalent in certain types. Munchkins cannot do everything a normal cat can do, which in turn disables them. At most, a sphinx cats are skin cancer and sunburns which can be avoided - An aspiring vet.
exactly. I appreciate that she adopted the cat, but the breeders are evil.
I absolutely loved the beginning, "This is the story about a boy named Mugsy" I JUST WANTED TO SING MY LIFE AWAY YEESSS
Super.
ooh the salt
Tyler's tactic of rubbing Mugsy's head while holding him is exactly what I do with my cats ❤️
Please stop torturing the cat. He's adorable and pretty tolerant, but seriously youtube Jason Galaxy or fundamentally feline for cat handling tips...
edit: I know it's not actual torture, but it is highly stressful for him.
raebla isn't it jackson galaxy? With his guitar case and pink cadalac😂😂
probably. I'm terrible with names
He's adorable! I'm so glad you chose an older cat!
Ravyn Skye obese? Are you an idiot?
That cat is obese. Any vet would tell you so. Do you even know what a cat is supposed to look like? Here's a helpful chart to remind you what cats are supposed to look like. www.ilaxstudio.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Weight-chart.jpg or this chart, where this cat is between high and serious risk level. www.petmd.com/sites/default/files/healthy-weight-protocol-cat.jpg
Are you a vet?
Though Munchkins usually look obese quite fast because of their short legs, this cat does weigh more than it should. I wouldn't say it's obese though. You can't base that on your charts because it's a completely different kind of cat used as an example.
"He doesn't like to be held. BUT I PROMISE HE LOVES ME"
Same
probably the worst breed of cat you could buy . they're intentionally bred to be fucked up . but whatever floats your boat i guess
Emma Burrows You think those legs are natural?
Hallie B. Adopting an old cat in need is the best thing she could have done. True, the breeding of this type of cat is unethical but regardless of that, Mugsy was a mature cat and I'm glad people are adopting older cats, they get overlooked because people want kittens.
all of my cats are seniors so i get it. but i've had them all since they were kittens . they range from 14, 13 13 and 12
Okay but these cats were bred 100 or so years ago, they weren't meant to be " fucked up" they are just like regular cats. They can't jump as high or may have back injuries, but they don't have any health problems except the ones that most cats have.
Rebekah Hernandez that breed has not been around 100 years
YAS little bb munchkin! So happy that you found each other!
Saf mouthing I love you to mugsy is just the most accurate representation of my relationship with cats
Absolute best opening of any video I have seen. Gold.
candace, mugsy is the cutest thing ever! you're a great cat mom! i'm so happy for you! 😻
i love how theyre like "look hes so upset" meanwhile that's one of the happiest cats ive ever seen throughout most of the video
it breaks my heart that you got an elderly cat as my cat just died at 13/14 years old and was very healthy his whole life. I hope mugsy has a longer lifespan and you are an angel for adopting him Candace, good luck with this cutie
Thank you so much for rescuing instead of buying a cat, especially an older one!
"A cat with a great walk"
Cat: *struts nubs*
I can't!💘💘
Mugsy is so cute! I love him! Also the nubs are real! Plus congrats on getting an older cat! 😁☺😸❤🐈
This was legitimately the most exciting video I've watched all week thank you i love mugsy so much ;_;
Oh man, he's a precious boy!! Congrats on your new nubby fur baby (:
I have 4 kitties. Only 1 was a planned kitty the others were found. Congrats on Mugs, awesome that you adopted a mature kitty!!!
Yay for adopting an older kitty. ❤ Mugsy is the cutest thing.
Beautiful kitty. He makes you light up. Thank you for the upload.
He also kind of has a grumpy cat thing going for him. lol
He's beautiful, and I'm so happy you adopted a senior kitteh.
"I think I'm a stressful person to cats..." as Mugsy blinks in trust and relaxation
I chocked on a skittle when Saf putted her head in front of Mugsy and said ''I love you'' 💕😂
