I'm not a designer or artist, but I love to see your creations unfold!! Makes you look at the world in a different way! I'm seeing circles and basic shapes everywhere now haha
This is just awesome! Really, I love your style of creation and your way of explaining :D And even though I'm already a little familliar with flat design, I'm still learning a whole lot with your tutorials and discover better ways to solve specific problems. =) So have a nice day and thanks again for doing all this great work! ^^ Greetings from germany
@@quantum2558 you don't have to buy them just get them from the right side of the videos there are all the colours just screen shot those and use it in illustrator
@@starvoltz3179 I thought just that. Take a PrintScreen of the video, throw it in Illustrator and create a palette of your own using the eye dropper tool
Never mind. I figured it out. There should be 3 circles before choosing minus front, not 2 circles. Original circle, then Ctrl+F twice, which makes 3 circles, one on top of the other. Raise the top circle a bit to expose a little of the middle circle. Recolor the middle circle to a darker color. Then select the top and middle circles and choose minus front. You will see the dark, crescent shape of the lower portion of the middle circle and the bottom circle below the crescent, creating the object you are wanting us to create. Is this correct?
Your original image looked much better! The highlights and excessive shadows detract from the minimalist style that you've developed! The exception would be the shadowing on the hair/moustache/eyebrows, that did add volume to the image, while not detracting from the simplicity. Please don't go overboard with the highlights! :)
Illustrators rip off and share each others styles constantly. Look at Dribbble.com... it's all the same. Illustration styles change with trend. They're hardly invented and owned by any one artist
At :49, you selected both circles, then chose "minus front" in pathfinder. This didn't work for me. There are 2 circles only, right? One on top of the other. The one in back is a darker color. So, by choosing both circles, then hitting minus front, all that remains is a crescent shape on the bottom that is the darker color ... no lighter color is visible whatsoever. What am I missing? "Divide" works by selecting the paths you don't need with the direct selection tool, but ... it's really bugging me that I can't get your method of minus front to work!!! Help?

I can't figure out what he is doing either, but you can use the divide in the pathfinder, and remove the top. That works.
after you press divide, ungroup, then remove the top.
