It's a strong ability, but it's really situational damage in most cases, and the real power comes from dodging autos (less meaningful later in the game outside of the ADC obviously), not the damage stats. The issue is relying on the enemy team autoing you when E is up and then letting you land it. Jax E is actually really hard to land on squishy targets because most have self-peel nowadays, and you will almost certainly get knocked away before you can complete the E channel. Most squishy targets can either peel you after you jump or simply dash away after you Q, so unless you E preemptively then cancel immediately, where you won't get full damage or effect, you won't land it. It's really good for early game auto trades in the minion waves though, and also you can use Baron or Dragon to proc it then jump on someone, I guess. Old AP Jax did pretty much the same thing, and you still mostly had to rely on just oneshotting with Q + W + R proc to kill anyone haha because everyone just flashed the E.
@@LevendiMegalos The enemy can both use any gapcloser (many champions have more than one anyway) they have AND flash to dodge the E-Q, at which point you need to flash match if you want to all in which isn't what you want to do most of the time, and Jax's hardest matchups (like Jayce) are pretty much all ranged (or hybrid) champions so you need to use Q to get on them in the first place, at which point they just disengage or jump away then trade after you use it. Jax's E isn't really that consistent an ability compared to Akali E (can be used for offence or defence alongside mobility, has a high damage component that activates as soon as it is landed, and has redundancies with Ult for mobility and W for defence), for example, which is always useful. The fact that your opponents need to be within that limited range, you only have a single gapcloser on a relatively long CD, and that E is a long CD ability Jax depends on to win fights, you need to be careful when using it. That's why most Jax players build Shojin 2nd or 3rd item. Removes your champion disadvantages entirely.
@@AveSicarius i think you're severely understating the importance of autos in most champs even that are not ADCs "next auto stuns" "next auto slows" "next auto does 80% of this champ's damage" "auto to finish combo" there are so many things that require an auto, even for example viktor's speed, or diana's passive, that negating autos on a full 3 second ability is INSANE, not just for adcs
As a jax player, he would have been beating poppy (or at least going even) if he was more willing to use his ult at the start of the fight. It would let him survive longer to fully utilize rift maker, and it does a ton of damage up front as well.

So I just tried this in game (low emerald level) and it honestly feels really fuckin good. your skirmish potential is so much higher than the regular build, especially with phase rush. and your burst damage is actually insane mid/late game. Protobelt is super super good it allows you to catch people from much further range then they expect with the dash and speed, and if you can prime your 3rd auto you will 1 shot almost anyone. Very fun to play!
Oh, and like others are commenting, just pop your ult at the start of fights dont wait until youre 2hp like Baus did. You stack a ton of haste so its a low cooldown anyways.

Did everyone forget they updated jax ult a few months ago and added AP ratio to it so its not a bad as it was. It is a viable playstyle bausffs just makes very questionable decisions sometimes and dies stupidly for it as far as challenger game play goes.

I think it's reasonable to assume that tank sion is by far his strongest pick and maybe quinn but just because he's worse at other champions is he no longer allowed to play them? Just fell into a rabit hole and i think AP jax actually makes sense. Item wise on paper it seems like a handful of ap/max-hp/ability haste items are ideal. Im thinking: sorc shoes, everfrost, demonic, lich bane, cosmic drive, and to finish it or perhaps before if necessary, gargoylr stone plate? This eould give you lots of ap and ability haste, everfrost garuntees a hit of E, and garvoyle gives you sustain in a fight. Lichbane is obviously strong, demonic for health and extra AP, cosmic drive for synergy with ohaserush and in/out play style. Could be cracked.

It's because other streamers, players, pros, aren't doing anything exciting for the game. I need to give some props to Tyler1 though. i just went 17/2/4 in a 30 min plat game with a similar build. nearly doubled everyones gold and closest level to my 18 was 15. my lane opponent was lvl 13.
Jax is a hybrid/perfect champ in the game since season 1 of league. Jax js AD but deals shittons of AP damage because of passive and W+E, you can item AD+AP+Tank items in Him. It is OP
From the beginning of the video, the specific build looks slightly sus to me, but I think Riot made AP Jax quite viable and better really than AP Irelia (although Baus claims that AP Irelia is quite good, just not in his hands because he can't pilot the champion). Jax E ratio isn't THAT wack on its own, only 70%. However, by dodging up to 5 attacks, you can increase its damage by 100%. So for auto attack champs, it is actually INCREDIBLY troll to try attacking Jax in his E; it could double the damage. Minion autos count, though, and you can see Baus just running into the enemy wave and hitting Poppy to take the whole wave's aggro--thus putting his E ratio at 140%. Okay I know he's instilling great confidence by not even knowing what Riftmaker does, but afaik it's the overall best mythic for AP Jax. I'm thinking his 'super-secret demon build' is gonna be legit. 13:53 when he expressed his doubts about Nashor's, that instilled confidence in me. I haven't played AP Jax or seen it very much, but that does not seem like a good item for it most of the time. Just seems counterproductive to the playstyle, I think it should really play more like a bruiser-ey Fizz. I like his Lichbane pickup that seems to align with the goals of the build. For Drew doubting it, I think it aligns with the Fizz-like playstyle and don't forget, it gives movespeed and haste--two extremely desirable stats for this build. Nashor's pickup: I can see it vs this comp I suppose, in particular to help with Poppy. It does have haste too, so maybe it is good as a later item for AP Jax, still seems like it might not be best in slot most games but I'm not really sure. Oop, Baus agrees :D. Yeah, I think Drew is right that Hourglass here might've been the move. Armor, haste, the super special and OP annoying active, pretty cheap as well... very juicy item and would give a lot of damage reduction vs the Poppy too. Love the Deathcap he is rushing, seems like an insanely high value pickup as a 4th item for this pick. Yeah, my thoughts are that AP Jax isn't as good in most games as AD, but it's a fantastic pick in certain games/situations and Jax is just a very good pick in general because he can flex his build, scales well basically regardless of what he builds, and even has pretty good early. I think it's much harder to play than AD because you have to be more careful/less lazy about when to go in and it seems a lot less forgiving about mechanical errors.
Guarantees E to hit. I've played this a few times and you dont have time to stack riftmaker before oneshotting squishies late, protobelt just gives more usefull damage and gapclear for practically all game.

Only problem is that Baus didn't trade as hard as he could in that lane. A lot of AA power ups in the game gives you extra range to bonk heads. If he had done that well, he'd would have an easier time against Poppy I feel

Jax is a hybrid/perfect champ in the game since season 1 of league. Jax js AD but deals shittons of AP damage because of passive and W+E, you can item AD+AP+Tank items in Him. It is OP
From the beginning of the video, the specific build looks slightly sus to me, but I think Riot made AP Jax quite viable and better really than AP Irelia (although Baus claims that AP Irelia is quite good, just not in his hands because he can't pilot the champion).
Jax E ratio isn't THAT wack on its own, only 70%. However, by dodging up to 5 attacks, you can increase its damage by 100%. So for auto attack champs, it is actually INCREDIBLY troll to try attacking Jax in his E; it could double the damage. Minion autos count, though, and you can see Baus just running into the enemy wave and hitting Poppy to take the whole wave's aggro--thus putting his E ratio at 140%.
Okay I know he's instilling great confidence by not even knowing what Riftmaker does, but afaik it's the overall best mythic for AP Jax. I'm thinking his 'super-secret demon build' is gonna be legit.
13:53 when he expressed his doubts about Nashor's, that instilled confidence in me. I haven't played AP Jax or seen it very much, but that does not seem like a good item for it most of the time. Just seems counterproductive to the playstyle, I think it should really play more like a bruiser-ey Fizz.
I like his Lichbane pickup that seems to align with the goals of the build. For Drew doubting it, I think it aligns with the Fizz-like playstyle and don't forget, it gives movespeed and haste--two extremely desirable stats for this build.
Nashor's pickup: I can see it vs this comp I suppose, in particular to help with Poppy. It does have haste too, so maybe it is good as a later item for AP Jax, still seems like it might not be best in slot most games but I'm not really sure. Oop, Baus agrees :D. Yeah, I think Drew is right that Hourglass here might've been the move. Armor, haste, the super special and OP annoying active, pretty cheap as well... very juicy item and would give a lot of damage reduction vs the Poppy too.
Love the Deathcap he is rushing, seems like an insanely high value pickup as a 4th item for this pick.
Yeah, my thoughts are that AP Jax isn't as good in most games as AD, but it's a fantastic pick in certain games/situations and Jax is just a very good pick in general because he can flex his build, scales well basically regardless of what he builds, and even has pretty good early. I think it's much harder to play than AD because you have to be more careful/less lazy about when to go in and it seems a lot less forgiving about mechanical errors.
Jax's E ramps up in dmg the more attacks you dodge with it before it triggers. ( up to a max)
It's illegal to enjoy this game as much as he does.

Guarantees E to hit. I've played this a few times and you dont have time to stack riftmaker before oneshotting squishies late, protobelt just gives more usefull damage and gapclear for practically all game.
@@F-Tier_Physique it’s not hard to hit E on AD Jax with no extra gap closer, maybe it’s because of poppy blocking Jax Q? I’m just thinking max omnivamp, kinda like what makes Gwen OP. But for burst I can see protobelt, I just think into a tanky team comp, Gwen set up seems ideal.
Only problem is that Baus didn't trade as hard as he could in that lane. A lot of AA power ups in the game gives you extra range to bonk heads. If he had done that well, he'd would have an easier time against Poppy I feel
