So hype~ I really enjoy the two Japanese factions and the Boshin War is such a great historical period to cover for this game. Also yeah the Satcho Alliance mainly the Choshu had access to British Rifles quite easily. The Shogunate forces aside from the Denshutai had less modern weaponry. The Emperor siding also forced a lot of Shogunate Allies and neutral domains to flip sides. Also the punitive expeditions the Shgounate Conducted against the Choshu were military failures which enhanced the sentiment that the Tokugawa was growing weak.
That is so cool! Never thought you would take part in a game. I'm not part of your server so that is why it's news to me. I love the art style and combined with your contributions in terms of historical knowledge, this is beyond awesome wow.
7:37 I immediately recognized Saigo Takamori because believe it or not, I've recently been watching a Japanese drama series (翔ぶが如く) based on his life (or at least I think it is; the episodes I've watched thus far have depicted the lead-up to the Perry Expedition, but I'm sure the show will show something about the Boshin War soon)... anyway, love the work you and the devs have done for this game, it looks awesome 🤩
Can't believe you posted this! Ordered the osprey book Japanese armies Boshin war and satsuma rebellion 1868- 1877 arrived today! Wow what a coincidence. ❤ your channel by the way
I don't know if this is the right place to ask a history question, but as I came across this video (which was lovely, by the way) I figured I'll give it a shot: In Fire and Maneuver, why do the Shogunate line infantry use the kepi caps rather than the leather headgear? Every depiction I've seen of them has used the leather. I've been curious about this for a while. Hope you can help!
@@TheShogunateis it possible to be creative with the tactics you use in the game? Like for example using tactics against enemies that were not used against them in the real life boshin war?
That's a decent roster of units for both sides Speaking of which, since you are quite well versed in Japanese history, do you know any other military "units" that you are aware of during the bakumatsu? (Besides in the game) I'm doing a research on this topic
Linux not supported, sorry no. When a game has enduring appeal, you especially want to be sure it will continue to work whatever Microsoft does. I nearly impulse bought this + DLC because it's absolutely beautiful & the gameplay is closer to what a commander had to deal with than a real time game. Edit : also looking forward to Volound look at all this.
They should really add this to the nintendo switch. I personally would rather play Shogun 2 on pc but having a game like this on the switch would be amazing.
This could not be further from the truth, this game is a passion project by its developer. The game was actually free throughout all of its early access. They only had to go to a paid model more recently in order to hopefully turn a profit to add more content in the future. Not a cash grab at all.
@@TheShogunate quite a bunch of people knows this when the game actually came out which if you knows, you knows and they had financial problem so they wanted to finish this quick so they can get the fund to fund further development for the game as its well known they got into financial issues
Thanks so much for the coverage man! :) Without your assistance with this DLC, it genuinely would not have been possible for us to make on our own.
Hi
Wow
Make this free please I got the test version.

Any Total War Shogun 2 players perk up the moment they hear Armstrong guns?

I've got a thousand hours in EU4, but never really heard much about this game. Will have to check it out.
That’s so cool that you helped out like that. I kinda want to play this game now. 🤣🤣
I got the DLC and it’s super cool to hear your voice in the game!
Sounds most interesting. Not much of a gamer anymore, but your description gives in multiple configurations to take the field with.
I thought the Kihetai is an elite infantry but actually an irregular Infantry
A someone with 1700 hours on Shogun 2 FOTS, I'm interested!
You got to help with this game ? That’s awesome!
Congratulations 🎊
Thanks man!

The style we used was one that we found example of and was different enough from other versions that we felt compelled to use so that it felt unique.
@@TheShogunate Ah, so as to differentiate at a glance. That is an answer that I can both accept and respect. Thank you for all your hard work!

👍🏻
Still getting whooped when I play Toba Fushimi >.>
You'll get it!!
Oh hell yeah, I can be the Shogunate and fight against the Confederates.
Perfect for a alt history battle
Like i imagine an invasion on the western coast of the USA
Could you talk about mitsunari
The units voices were stolen from Total War: Shogun 2.
I hope the game doesn’t get a copyright claim.
No they were not. I was part of helping find the voice actors who were contracted
Would you be up for a collab with my second channel that covers F&M too, we could play together

Why you pronounced Aizu with a T?
Its more of a "d" sound technically. Its pronunciation is like "Aidzu"
@@TheShogunate Never heard japanese natives pronouncing this "dz" sound before.
@@yurisc4633 It could also be a regional thing. I know that is the case with the Shimazu as well when they also get pronounced as "Shimadzu".
@@TheShogunate interesting.
I have a sudden feeling that a lot of virgin imperial supporters will be active in this comment section. Shogunate forces are better.
the sad truth about it is that it is pretty much just a quick cash grab thats why it look kind of bland
