- A 1972 Honda SL70 basket case I picked up. With some effort, it is now a runner. It went from seized and crusty to a cleaned up little ripper. I chose to leave it with some of it's original patina.
Had one just like it except for it being red. Had a Trail 50, wanted a upgrade. The Honda dealer said I would need $200.00 for the trade. My Dad said that he would match me a $100.00 for the deal. Spent all summer doing odd jobs and saving the money. At the end of the summer I finally earned the cash to get the bike. Great summer. Great bike.
that is amazing!
My Verry First bike that STARTED the Obsession! A Trail 70. 1973 New! Then the Super Quick Yamaha 80! Rest is History! BEST DAM DECADE of My Life! Nothing But FUN!! How i Miss it. God bless...
Right on!
Had the exact bike when I was a kid , I was 12 , I'll be
62 in 2 days , now I have a
1974xl 70, and a 74xl350
Those were the biggest and smallest endero bikes
Honda made that year.
I had my SL 70 entil I was 16 then I got a Harley 250
Sprint flat tracker , now I
have a 70 350 sprint , and
XR 70, a pumped XR 650l
, And I just a hybrid 97 CR 80 with a vertical cyl 150
Quad motor in it. Hope I
Didn't carry on to much but I love Honda 4 strokes
And hope you enjoy yours.
Thanks from NOR-CAL.
Thats so awesome! Nothing better than an old Honda.
Just getting into garage things. Awesome starter video for me 👍
I remember seeing these new when I was a kid, I wanted one so bad. I’m 61 now and have had probably 20 bikes since and still ride.
love it. glad to hear!
It's funny, the 1972 SL70 was the upgrade every kid on a 1970 CT70 wanted, but here we are now some 50 years later, and the 1970 CT70 is all the rage and most SL70s are totally gone.
Yep! Seems that way now. The kids who were growing into the SL70s seemed to ride the heck them and run most into the ground.
This motorcycle was a huge he part of my life as a kid, although it was 100cc. Had a river behind the house where I had set up a track. I scared off a neighbor that had a 360 Husky, he refused to race me knowing I would humiliate him, I had that track wired as they say. Great little bike for what it was.
Working on the same build right now! Also, I saw a Puch Moped in the background! MOPEDS!!!!
great eye!! MOPEDSSSS. Good luck with yours. I hope to put out some more videos of builds soon.
@@DMACmoto Hell yeah man! Cant wait to see them! You're always welcome to wrench and ride with us if you're ever in Souther Indiana.
@@AlexanderLanderman love that. Thanks for the hospitality. Moped people are the only strangers that doesn’t make that feel weird!
Watched the whole thing, a sweet little machine, nice work!
thanks for the kind words Marvin!
Dude, u did a awesome job on that Honda, when it started I got a big smile.
Thanks for the kind words!! Its always a nice moment when it fires up for the first time in years
Good job👍 It looks like a great little bike for putting around the woods.
Thanks! Sure is. Cant beat a vintage Honda
Music is perfect for a safecracker flick.
I wanted one of these so bad as a kid, by the rime I saved up enough I out grew it. Ended up with a brand new SL 125 for 600 bucks.
Thats awesome! Did you keep anything from back in the day??
@@DMACmoto I still have the rear tire. Why.. I have no idea.
That sure looks like my old SL100. Think it was a ‘71 or ‘72 model.
Beautiful job!
Thanks for checking it out!
I have one! It’s been in our family 45 years, still runs but will Need a full restoration soon. Just love it! I will do a video of the restoration :)
Great job. I had the red version when I was a kid. Just curious, why didn’t you paint the fenders and gas tank?
Thank you!! It was just simple renovation of turning it to a rider. I only painted the side covers because they weren’t blue and in bad shape… so I wanted them to match. But I do agree they look mighty new compared to the rest, but i like the old paint patina and bruises on the originals. I don’t mind the imperfections!

Details… details…
Noice! 👍
I have this same motorcycle. Wanted to restore it but it's beyond my expertises. Any one want to buy it?
Great job man! I have my father's old SL70 here and I am wondering how much I should expect to pay for a rebuild? Have an idea how much it will cost?
Thank you. Thats awesome! It all depends on how far you want to take it. Try dratv.com/ for parts if you are doing it yourself. Good luck, awesome little machines.
@@DMACmoto thanks mate! Very useful! Did you buy new two side caps (where you put the decal "SL70") I could not find it in the website...
@@alexgames01 I restored the originals. They were mis-colored, scratched, and battered. I sand blasted, primed, and repainted. Try ebay and also: re-mx.com/sl70-xl70
How much is a Honda sl70 worth never been road
I don't remember selling these here in the United they had the SL 90 it had basically the trail 70 sheet metal type frame but it was a 90 motor put in it and it had spoked wheels. But I don't remember them ever marketing this style of 70 here in the United States and I was pretty well into motorcycles in the 70's and 80s
music from hell
Great job but this “music” is pure torture. OMG
Who wants to bye a 1972 Honda. Sl70 for cash
Terrible, terrible music but great work on the bike.
I agree! I wish it was easier to find suitable music to use. Maybe next one. Thanks!
Just getting into garage things. Awesome starter video for me 👍
