- A fan-edited "what if/leaked VHS copy" movie trailer for James Cameron's cancelled Spider-Man project. Inspired by Cameron's infamous 47-page "scriptment" (script treatment) for Carolco Pictures back in 1991, involving Electro & Sandman, and elements from script drafts in 1993 featuring Doctor Octopus as the sole villain instead.

There were way more characters like Nathan "Flash" McCreery, Uncle Ben Parker and way more but these are the only confirmed ones
No one from this actors was confirmed for the cast. Movie was in early production before cancelled. Even main actor wasn't picked. Leonardo DiCaprio was only one of the pretendets was considered
for the Spider-Man role. Michael Biehn was one of them too.
Electro's name is Max Dillion.

Cameron's treatment. There he's Carlton Strand, a big businessman. Sandman not so different from the comics, but his name also changed to Boyd.

As bonkers of an idea Cameron had for his Spider-Man movie, this trailer made me wanna see it happen. I think Arny would’ve been a great villain and DiCaprio would’ve been a decent Spider-Man.

Arnold Schwarzenegger was going to play Doc Ock who would have been the main villain in the original script but this script was rejected for being "too boring" so James Cameron was gonna make a new one but the movie took to long to make so Schwarzenegger left and Doc Ock was replaced with Electro and Sandman and Sandman has a name it is not just Boyd it has never officially been confirmed what his first name would have been but lots of sources say William Boyd

Hmm, this looks interesting. I knew James Cameron was gonna make a a Spiderman movie back in the 90s, and I'm thankful that that movie never happened because if it happened, we wouldn't get the Raimi movies.

Honestly, IMO, 86-Cameron’s Electro and Sandman and just keep Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Doc Ock as the main villain and this would’ve been one KICK-ASS film! I mean Leonard DiCaprio as Spider-Man battling Arnold Schwarzenegger as Doc Ock under James Cameron’s direction, how can than NOT be awesome?!

In 1998 or 1999, there was a movie poster for Spiderman the movie in a Wizard magazine. Still with Leonardo DiCaprio as Spiderman/Peter Parker and with Nikki Cox as Mary Jane. The villain was to be the Green Goblin played by Kevin Spacey. Now, to me, Leonardo DiCaprio is an unusual choice for Spiderman because Spiderman is also supposed to have a sense of humor and DiCaprio plays mostly all serious characters. I guess they believed he'd be a good choice because he was so popular at the time. Nikki Cox would've been a good choice to play Mary Jane because she was popular then, she was hot and she looks a lot like Mary Jane from the comics. Not just because she's a natural redhead but her facial features match MJ's, too. Kevin Spacey would've been an excellent choice to play the Green Goblin as he is great at playing an asshole businessman and a lunatic.
Actually, the movie poster for James Cameron's Spider-Man was just a April Fool's joke from Wizard magazine. At the bottom of the poster, you can find the word "not" (in a tiny font) right next to "Coming This Summer", also says "parody" at the bottom of the poster too. But Cameron did mention he wanted DiCaprio as Spider-Man during a 1997 interview with Howard Stern.
Yeah, that I knew. But some of it was true. James Cameron wanted to do Spiderman and was thinking of casting Leonardo DiCaprio as Spiderman. Some of the casting was ridiculous in that poster but some seemed accurate. What was really ridiculous in that poster was Michael Douglas playing Jamerson.
I feel Edward Furlong or Elijah Wood would’ve been better in the 90’s

After watching this fan trailer and enity’s lair fan trailer and all of the other ones I’m kind of bumped out James Cameron’s Spider-Man was cancelled
This fan trailer was well made. I wish the original movie didn't get cancelled, despite the terrible script James Cameron wrote, I actually would've watched the movie. Lol

Omg I'm not crazy! I tell everyone I remember seeing a spiderman preview in theaters that had a helicopter caught in between the world trade centers before 9/11. I couldn't find that scene anywhere until now when it's used in this fanfic!

Cool, really nice stuff in there. I actually was asking GravityBone to do James Cameron's Spidey trailer using Leo as Peter with Doc Ock played by Arnold with footage of him from the Beach. You really scracthed that itch, my friend.
But if I may, I think during the shots of Peter unmasked, it would have looked cooler with the 70's suit or a more toned down suit from the ones from the comics not the really high-budget Raimi suit. I thinka more 1999 version of a simples uit would have looked hella cool. Again, just my two cents, still a brilliant trailer.
Also, I love how Arnie is in there. He looks perfect for Doc Ock, imagine him and Leo going at it. How does he fit into the plot though, really intrigued but who is the real antagonist, him or Strand?
It was 2 different scripts. One had Strand and Boyd, and the other had Octavius as the sole antagonist.
Interestingly enough, I heard that Otto woulda' had some kinda personality disorder which made him believe that he, himself, was Spider-Man. He'd, like, call himself Spider-Man throughout the film.
According to the script and storyboard, a Nicholas Hammond costume would be really more accurate. Spider-Man was supposed to have an organic web
in the movie, but he wear massive web shooters to mislead peoples.
But i think it's easier to find fitting footage with a Raimi movies.

I have this one comic book which contained information about the movie. Cameron claimed that Arnold would play doc ock and michael biehn would play spidey. I'm not even kidding. The only thing that doesn't look right is peter being bitten and the punch through Sandman. other than that this is amazing! you should be very very proud, this is fantastic work! I wish this was a real movie.
