All guru Maharaj taught sanatan dharma. They are part of the crown jewels of indian spirituality like budha and mahveer and Krishna etc. They all were Yogi of the highest order. the unfortunate part is that there largely remains the stories and interpretation but hardly any living yogi to embody the ultimate truth.

Forefathers " didnt change religion" as he says. They merely followed a holy man, an enlightened Guru. That was and is still norm in India.
