      @the bronze james "it's not rare" my brother in Christ I thought the Char's gelgoog was the only 2.0 gelgoog because it's the only one I have ever seen and to this day I still haven't seen one at any of my stores in Canada

    to me, a good weathered build should not only show the modelers skill and technique in model making but also, often often overlooked, the ability of the modeler to tell a story through their models.
    good pointers you have mentioned are the difference in a weathered space variant to a ground variant.
    as a grunt/ground variant enthusiast, i employ a little more weathering on my kits legs and knees and more subtle one the hand and forearms. i've never done space types as in space, to me, metals dont rust. although, there is a bit of a debate if gundarium even ever rusts.
    cheers!

    I bought an electric nail file kit that’s adjustable. That works great cause you can lower the speed down a lot and make some really good scuffs on the armor with out having to melt the plastic.

    • @ZakuAurelius
      @ZakuAurelius  Год назад +9

      Not too surprising that a lot of nail tools can be useful for plamo as well! 👍

    • @666styxxx666

      I use the tamiya plastic drill it's got a low enough speed not to melt the plastic and can either drill clean holes or with a different attachment do damage work ( Dremel bits fit the collets )

    fun tip,i have found that you can instead of using a gundam marker to "hide" the nub,you can use coloured pencils but be careful not to scratch the plastic

    It's such a small thing, but I think this might be the first time I see someone using plastic cement to flatten down stress marks... and I'm kicking myself for having never thought of it. That's a great building tip, thanks! It will go a long way in preventing panel lining from getting trapped in the wrong places, too.

    Someone probably mentioned it already, but it's worth experimenting with different amounts of each part for two-part epoxy. Often putting in a little more of one part makes it harder and more brittle, while the other makes it softer and more flexible.

    you are supposed to wear gloves with two part epoxy, like you said, and it might be carcinogenic but its not like your fingers will rot off or something. Thats actually not why though, you should wear gloves so the putty doesn't stick to your fingers. Also wet your tools and your fingers via a little dish of water when working with putty just so it doesn't stick to you or your tools

  • @666styxxx666

    I heavily damaged a entry grade Rx for the final shooting look, for the scuffs damage etc I simulated the fighting by using a zaku in a stop motion style even the back is battle scared where the mobile suit gets slammed into the rocks attacked from behind, it's easier and cheaper to test out the technique before I even attempt it on a MG

  • @abyssalnights6409
    @abyssalnights6409 Год назад +1

    the idea behind zimmeritt was that its a coating to interfere with magnetic mines and stop them from sticking to tanks, so you'd probably want more complete coverage on the feet ankles if you want to depict a fresh coat, but historically it appears to break and fall off around damage, the bigger the shot causing the damage the more exagerated the chunk of coating blown off

      It's a thing of preference.
      Sometimes a little scratch here and there or some weathering makes the kit have a lot of more personality.
      But i can't deny that a clean and Shiny MS looks hella good too.
