Again love how passionate you have become for this franchise you both have come over the course of this journey. Seeing a reaction to Order 66 for the first time always hits so hard. 😢
There is a theory that Padme died because Sidious used the Force to pull the essence of life out of Padme and into Vader, that the reason this is a power of the Dark Side is because in order for a life to be created or spared, a life must be taken. As Padme breathes her last breaths, Vader takes his first breath.
@@piotrkijak1774Anakin unfortunately was a slave his whole life until he killed Palpatine. He was a slave on Tatooine, a slave to the jedi order, then a slave to the Empire.
@@ggstatertots Well, he became willingly slave to Empire. He wasn't Jedi Order slave, he was treated as brother. This was his point of view when he betrayed by Yoda & Obi-Wan. Realised only that Palpatine made him an actual slave when his son tried to save him when Emperor tried to turn him
@piotrkijak1774 He was definitely treated better as a jedi, but they still forced him to forget about his mother and his childhood trauma. He had to hide his relationship to Padme because it is against the jedi code. He was forced to be part of a war (this wasn't necessarily just the jedi's fault). As wise as the jedi are, they are still a space cult and Qui Gonn saw through that and was able to bend or break the rules if need be.
Where does this term 'balance' come from? What does 'balance to the Force' mean, exactly? Better yet, what is the Force and why is it so important to the grander Star Wars story?
Except for the sole location unit, this movie functions as a Greek Tragedy. We know the ending and we can only see the characters fate unfold. Chi, I think you would love Greek Tragedies and also French 18th Century recreations of those with the same themes. Grievous is NOT a droid. he's a cyborg, like Darth Vader, a gravely injured alien warrior turned into a cyborg. Oh, Anakin knows he mssed up pretty bad. As the Jedi teachings go, he thinks he's beyond redemption and goes all into the Dark Side, hoping it will save Padmé.
Exactly, and unfortunately the jedi's philosophy don't allow Anakin to get closure with his mother and his childhood. The jedi aren't necessarily wrong to teach detachment, but without processing his trauma he ends up persisting in it by fearing losing Padme as it is the one thing he can love and have a familial attachment to outside of the jedi. That's why to me the other greatest tragedy besides Anakin turning into Vader is Qui Gonn dying. If he was able to mentor Anakin, he would be wise enough to allow Anakin to not be so rigid with the jedi code and be understanding of his emotions. He would have never turned to the dark side if that were the case.
2:12 In short... 1,000 years ago, there was a massive war between the Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic/Jedi Order (there had been MANY such wars throughout millions of years prior). The war ended with the apparent extinction of the Sith, and victory for the Jedi and Republic. However, a few Sith survived and went into hiding, planning their revenge. Among them were two, named Darth Bane and Darth Zannah. Bane believe the Sith Empire's numbers were its undoing (all the Sith killing each other to grab more power, rather than making the Sith Empire itself more powerful). So Bane established the "Rule of Two:" At any given time, there would be EXACTLY TWO Sith Lords, a Master and an Apprentice. The Master would embody the power, and the apprentice would grow to take it, continuing the tradition. The point was that, if the apprentice always grew stronger than the master, then each successive Sith would be stronger than the previous, until they grew strong enough to destroy the Jedi. 2:40 The big battle the movie opens with is the Battle of Coruscant, one of the final battles of the Clone Wars. Also I will inform you that three years have passed since Attack of the Clones. There's an animated series titled Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which ran for seven seasons that covers everything between Episodes II and III. 7:00 This duel had a lot of little details. My favorite is specifically *how* Dooku was keeping an advantage. See... Obi-Wan overwhelmingly specializes in defense, while Anakin is an overwhelming specialist in offense. So Dooku was pushing Anakin back, forcing him on defense, while forcing Obi-Wan to attack, using both of their weaknesses against them at the same time. However, Dooku's own specialty was also his weakness. Dooku specialized in classical saber-on-saber dueling, which relied heavily on maintaining a fixed rhythm. So once Obi-Wan was out of the duel, Anakin reverted to his signature style and overwhelmed Dooku with nonstop heavy strikes, breaking his rhythm and creating an opening to deal the deciding move. 8:50 Anakin's reply "His fate will be the same as ours" is actually true. Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Palpatine all died aboard the Death Star (Obi-Wan on the first Death Star in ANH, and Anakin and Palpatine on the Death Star II in ROTJ). 10:20 Anakin's comment of Grievous being shorter than expected are later explained to be because his apprentice, Ahsoka (who is very small) described Grievous as being huge. 13:20 The relationship is forbidden pretty much only from Anakin's side, being a Jedi. I don't think Padme would experience any difficulties as a senator being married to a Jedi. 28:00 Grievous isn't a droid. He's a species called Kaleesh. He basically got the RoboCop treatment. 32:30 Palpatine/Darth Sidious actually normally looks like this. His "normal" appearance is the result of using Sith alchemy to disguise his dark side-corrupted appearance. Having his force lightning reflected back at him simply broke that disguise. 35:50 This Jedi youngling was deliberately made to resemble Anakin when he was little in order to symbolize Anakin killing his former self. 36:30 This Jedi padawan is portrayed by Jet Lucas, George Lucas' son.
the fight between Anakin & Obi-Wan still gives me chills but when Obi-Wan says "You were my brother Anakin, I loved you!" breaks my heart to pieces to this day
General Grievous was one of the strongest warriors to ever live in the Star Wars universe despite being just some organs in a pickle jar. He willingly gave up his limbs for cybernetic enhancements to become even more powerful. He was so strong and skilled that he defeated many Jedi Knights and Masters. If he was Force sensitive then he would have been more powerful than Darth Vader.
What joy watching Star Wars with Chi and Hella. Your comments make it so enjoyable. 😊 BTW, pretty outfits for each of them and gorgeous earrings on Chi. Hella and Chi acting like they just became aunts. 😛
Grievous was originally a member of a species of reptilian humanoids called Kaleesh. When he was almost killed, Dooku made him an offer. He was made into a cyborg so he could be a more effective killer and have his revenge against the Jedi. Grievous was one of Dooku's trusted sidekicks in the war, the other being the Dathomiri Sith Apprentice, Asajj Ventress.

Anakin does become good in the end. He does kill the evil Emperor to save his son. It's a long, tragic journey but he does ultimately bring balance to the force. Love you ladies! Your reactions are just fantastic.
The Jedi and the Republic defeated and wiped out the Sith a thousand years before these times. One Sith Lord survived to pass along the legacy of the dark side and the hunger for revenge against their conquers.
In previous Ep. ---Can't we drop a bomb on them or something? ---I am very concerned about Anakin's anger. In Today's Ep. ---Cut off his head, cut off his head. ---Anakin's anger turns him to the dark side.
Almost all Anakin hate comes from not understanding his character or his pov. The jedi lost their way and were political tools who denied emotion instead of embracing it. Yoda led the order this way and indoctrinated every jedi to this line of thinking. Anakin was emotionally stunted from the jedi being borderline sociopaths who denied emotions from early age. The entire galaxy and jedi council got played by Sidious but Anakin always gets the most hate for falling for Palpatines seduction when he's been groomed by him since he was a child. The council was going to take over the galaxy and Yoda admits "this line of thought brings us to a dark place" so Anakins not wrong when he says he knew they were plotting to take over. Light or dark, they were both ruling or fighting to rule the galaxy. One side just denies you any love or emotion and treats you like shit and fears you, while the other embraces your insecurities to his gain. Anakin is a victim to his surroundings.
I met Ian McDiarnid on a college trip to London, touring his Almedia Theatre. It took me a year to figure out he played The Emperor in Return of the Jedi.
26:52 the mural on Palpatines wall depicts an ancient battle between the Jedi and the Sith. If you you closely you will also see a black cup 26:38 that is actually a Sith Chalice used to drink enemy blood in sacrificial rituals. A further hint of Palpatines dark nature.
Thank you! I suppose he could have told everyone who asked it, that he had that mural (isn't that a bassorilievo anyway?) to celebrate the victory fo the Jedi over the Sith! Very clever, and deceitful, like always Darth Sidious was...
Justification is the word you are looking for. In everything Anakin did, his passion drove him, but he needed justification to make him feel like he was doing right. He used saving Padme's life as justification for saving Palpatine, he used the fact that he was the chosen one, destined for great things, as justification for wanting to be a Jedi Master and that Obi-Wan and the council were holding him back. And because the Jedi organization kept holding him back, he used it as justification to assault the Jedi temple and slaughter those within. Padme was being manipulated by Obi-Wan (in his mind) that was his justification for choking her at the end. If you really look at the choices Anakin made when he was a child, you can see it then...he always felt a driving need to do something, and in order to overcome any internal debate, he found something to justify his actions to remove that internal conflict. Justification was a tool Anakin used throughout the prequels...everything he did, he had a reason, a justification for doing what he did, despite someone or even everyone, telling him he shouldn't do it.
I really like this explanation. He did so much wrong because he thought that the ends justified the ends. He sort of achieved his ends but he did not stopped to think if there was another way he could have done it that was better for everyone. Anakin said that he would free the people of his planet. But we never know if he did because once his mother died he saw no need anymore. He said that he would bring peace to the Galaxy because Padme was inside it, but once she died he no longer saw a point in being peaceful. In the end, he keeps himself alive because he still hopes that his life will bring some kind of meaning to the Galaxy. Like he didn't live and suffer and being suffering to others for nothing. Like it is all supposed to bring some kind of culmination ending to his life. And it kind of did... but his life is a story about how prophecies and chosen ones can mean something different and how they can be used to justify a lot of evil.
Yup and he did everything wrong despite his master trying to teach him. He broke the ways of the jedi, and his disobedience time and time again. Even after his training he was naïve enough to fall to manipulation.
In the films, General Grievous was not really revealed, but he was a real horror who brought fear to the republic with his name alone, without being adept of thr Force he was stronger than 90% of the Jedi (not counting the council), he captured planets, personally killed dozens of Jedi, in general he is a really strong person, and not just a coughing robot
Revenge Of The Sith is my absolute favorite out of the prequels. The double climactic lightsaber duel that takes place toward the end of the movie, Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader VS Obi-Wan Kenobi on Mustafar and Yoda VS Emperor Palpatine on Coruscant in the Senate chamber are top-notch across the board. Musical score, fight choreography, visual effects, audio effects and emotional impact. I give them all an A+.
I agree. It is the best in this trilogy. Interesting the film 2 (Empire) was best in the original trilogy, while film 3 (Revenge) is the best in the prequels. In the sequels I'll just state that it was one of the best examples of the concept of diminishing returns I've ever seen.
Yes, the Sith of old republic (like 3 000 years before the films) could make themselves so angry that they simply could not die in battle no matter the injuries (or something like that) :D Anakin practically survived the "lava bath" because of his anger.
@@johandark5736 Oh, I didn't know. Now, that sounds stupid... anger brought adrenaline trough your blood, that certainly can makes you stronger, more resistant and quicker... but it doesn't make you immortal. Now, I know it's Start Wars we're talking about, but still...

By this point to be fair to Anakin, he has lead multiple campaigns. It has been 5 years since Attack of the Clones, so he is a little older, and he has lead some very hard hitting campaigns by himself before already
He was practically a best combat Jedi they had (in overall campaigns, not 1v1 fights etc), yes there were Jedi that were better in certain fields of expertise, but Anakin and Obi-Wan were at the top. And the council feared him + Yoda and Windu wanted him to NOT be the chosen one, and wanted that honnor for themselves.
@johandark5736 is that last bit canon? I always thought that they viewed Anakin's Midlothian levels to be so high that it could be conflicting to him and so they feared that. I can never see Yoda as wanting to take any highest power for himself, but I can probably see that in Windu.
@@marksawicki3595 OK, I am not sure if it is official canon, but from what I saw in other videos and explanations, Yoda thought that he can defeat Sidious (or the "Sith master" when they did not know that it was Palpatine) and thus that he might be the chosen one if he wins, and by failing to defeat him during the "Senate duel" he not only recognised that it was not him, but he was so devastated (mainly because the Jedi fall was in big part his fault by his 800+ years of leadership), that he did not join the rebellion, but just hid (Ok, he might wanted to improve his Force skills too). Generally in these discussions is mentioned that Anakin was not welcomed by almost anyone in the Jedi order, be it fellow padawans or teachers, and so he just practiced enough to be the best, which alienated them even more. Also he (similar to Dooku when he was in the order) liked combat forms that were better at fighting other light-saber users, which worried the council (as there was no real need for it for 1k years, except some fallen Jedi and few others). Anyway, they FEARED Anakin and his potential, even if they did not said it openly.
The reason why the clones turned on the Jedi so easily is that they had inhibiter chips in their brains with programmed orders for them to follow by force. When Palpatine told them to execute order 66 they had no control
@RyanRybicki3582 I like the original better where it was just conditioning not a chip. The fun part is all the other orders that were there to hide the murder jedi one
Really? I just thing they knew from the beginning! I mean, they were creater by order of a Sith Lord, so, even if they were being used by the Republic, it made perfectly sense, for me, than they will still serve a Dark Lord.
Helas little boy, gone he is consumed by Darth Vader. I was crying with ya'll, when i first saw this i was hoping for a miracle as well but we all know the story. That fight between Anakin and Obi Wan still wows me almost 20 years later. Dont forget to watch Rogue One. Great reaction ladies 😊
After be burned, Vader suffered a lung damage so serious. That´s why he needed the suit (with a ventilation equipment) to breath and live. Besides, on purpose, this equpment "worked" with rage, anger and all his suffering. That´s why I told you in Episode VI that after kill the Emperor, with this ventilation destroyed and without rage and anger... he couldn´t live.
Poor Princess Hella. I knew the death of the Jedi younglings and Padmé would break you. The Clone Troopers (not Stormtroopers) were made with a secret code implanted within them. ✌️❤️🌹
This is my thought on anakin being the chosen one. There were hundreds of light users but only 2 dark users. When he brought "balance", he essentially ended it with 2 light and 2 dark users. The jedi misinterpreted the prophesy. In a way the force itself needed this to happen. This is why quigon Jin is one of my favorite characters, he did not let politics influence him, he truly understood the will of the force and got anakin trained regardless.
Yeah, no. Bringing balance back referred to the destruction of the Sith. According to Lucas the light is balance. There are not 2 aspects to the Force. The Darkside is the force out of balance. The Sith were a disruptive influence on the Force
@@robpettigrew3308interesting, then that would mean that the jedi were corrupted as well as the sith, on a political level. This movie does show that I guess
@@trentlammi5279 no. Only if you go with your 2 on 2 theory. The corruption of the Jedi is vastly overstated. At the end of the day they were a positive force. Out there helping when they could. They fucked up in agreeing to lead the military but even that was with the intent to end the war as quickly as possible. Remember diplomacy was never going to work as the Sith were secretly in charge of both sides
One way you can relate to Anakin vs. Vader is that Vader is basically only TECHNICALLY alive, his suit only keeps him on the absolute brink of death and locks him into relying on the power of the Dark Side, his pain and (self) hatred making his heart beat just one more time, the suit forcing his lungs to fill and empty like an iron lung beyond his direct control. The agony he experiences every second of every day both keeping him alive and utterly destroying his mind. Obi-Wan wasn't being cute with the truth when he said that Anakin had died, you can even hear his heart giving out as the mask lowers onto his head.
Yoda said to Qui-Gon when he first met Anakin 'Fear is the path to the Dark Side'. It was Anakin's deathly fear of losing Padme that ultimately led to her death, and his turn to the Dark Side. So sad. Also, in Dune, it was said 'Fear is the mind killer'. Fear is a deadly emotion. Thank you, Munchies!! Love you ladies to pieces!!
@@jmwilliamsart I would instead rely on calm examination of the realities of a situation and making sound decisions, rather than surrendering to hasty actions made without thought or understanding simply because I was fearful. What a fantastic reaction, to one of my favorite Star Wars movies. This is the second movie I've seen that made Hella cry this much, poor thing, the first being The Truman Show. RotS is a beautiful tragedy.
I don’t know if anyone has told you yet but I’m assuming so. But just in case, there is a theory that the emperor used what his master taught him (darth plagueis) to take Padmes life force and transfer it into anakin so he could survive the operation
It's interesting how it takes until the 3rd movie for many people to realize the Palpatine -> Emperor connection. They never tried to hide it. It's the same actor. They did a great job on Ian McDiarmid's makeup back in 1983.
Poor Hella, she goes through it every reaction it seems like. I prefer her laughter over her sad emotions, but that's just me. Maybe you guys should watch another Jim Carrey movie! On another note, glad you guys finished the prequel trilogy, although there are at least 2 more great prequel-era projects you should watch: Obi-Wan Kenobi series and after that, Rogue One, for sure.
Do you think Qui Gon would have had a better chance at tempering Anakin's impulsiveness. I think he would have. At that point, Ben was too young to be a teacher.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008 TV series) takes place over a span of three years in between the films Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. The protagonists comprise returning characters from the films, including Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Padmé Amidala, Yoda, and Mace Windu, as well as new characters created specifically for the series, such as Anakin's Padawan Ahsoka Tano and clone Captain Rex of the 501st Legion.
The clone wars 2003 is kinda a prequel to that series, it actually starts there. There is also one long movie of Clone Wars cgi animated series, which takes place near the beginning of that series.
That was great. Thank you ladies. As Star Wars fans, we knew what was coming when the movie came out, but it didn't make it any easier. The Jedi purge still hurts when I watch it... even now. Than you again!
Anakin was angry about not being made Master because all Master are allowed access to all records in Jedi archive library which includes all knowledge taken away from Sith in past. He hoped it would contain a way to save Padme. He also hoped it would make him even more knowledgeable and powerful. But Grandmaster Yoda and The Jedi Councill knew he was too young and arrogant to trust with all that knowledge.
33:00 so Chi-you seemed to be hovering a key concept here and even thought at 1:02. Annakin’s Jedi Masters knew of his darkness, knew it was essential for a balance. My take is that they thought they could influence maybe even control what had to be. Perhaps it could be argued if you think ultimately things worked out that they were right even though many many lives were destroyed, damaged to get there. In both Eastern and Western cultures, religious beliefs there is ligh and dark, Good and Evil. Most of us are grey-it’s funny in movies to have a good guy and a bad guy, when in reality one person’s good guy is another person’s bad guy. Great reaction. Enjoyed. Thank you. Hella seemed quite upset. 😢
Just based on your reactions to Episode I and II, I knew that this one was gonna be a real gut punch for the two of you. The original trilogy was a heroes journey, whereas the prequels are ultimately, a tragedy. If you wanna see more of what Obi-Wan was up to between the prequels and the original films, I recommend checking out The Obi-Wan Kenobi miniseries.
I remember to watch this one in cinema. This one and the EP V are my favorite. I recommend the Clone Wars series. It is an animation with short episodes. It is worth watching to see Anakin's slow fall to the dark side, and also to meet his apprentice, Ashoka. It is impossible not to like her. The last two episodes of the seventh season of Clone Wars are a great complement to this film.
Now I think you should watch the animated, "Star Wars: The Clone Wars". Because it introduces one of the most iconic charaters in the Star Wars universe who will have a major impact: Ahsoka Tano...

Grievous is basically the beta test version of the tech used to keep Anakin alive (in the Vader suit). 😉
The Battle of Coruscant takes place after CLONE WARS in Legends originally
the fight between Anakin & Obi-Wan still gives me chills but when Obi-Wan says "You were my brother Anakin, I loved you!" breaks my heart to pieces to this day
I love how these two really get into these movies.
Poor Hella. I felt so bad watching you suffer thru this movie.
Yeah, I don't remember another person in RUclips sad and in pain so much minutes with episode 3. 😔, forgive us, Hella
I have to admit, their reactions are just as entertaining as the movies they watch-in some cases, more.
I will never forget how emotional I was in the cinema when this first came out.
One of my favourite movies of all times!
General Grievous was not a was not a Droid. He was a person with a full body prosthetic that's why he still had his organs and brain

Fun fact, the emperor/Palpatine, is the same actor in both the original and the prequel trilogy. - Ian McDiarmid
The Jedi and the Republic defeated and wiped out the Sith a thousand years before these times. One Sith Lord survived to pass along the legacy of the dark side and the hunger for revenge against their conquers.
Well technically it was Bane who wiped them out.
@@AzulApe Is all of that from the books? Is there a series of books that set all this up? Where to begin. Such a cool story.
@@austntexan there is a Darth Bane book trilogy. Obviously it’s “legends” now due to Disney, but still worth a read.
Rule of Two is a great read
Broke Hela’s heart
"😮😮... QUINN!"
Lost it 😂😂
26:52 the mural on Palpatines wall depicts an ancient battle between the Jedi and the Sith.
58:15 The first Star Wars came out in '77 and it STILL "feels new" to me.
LMAO this was like waching episode 3 all over again for the first time xD i was crying and cheering along with yall the whole vid LOL

Poor Hella, she really took this one hard. Looks like she needed a hug... from her little boy.
44:40 I love the contrast between you two as you watch this part
@@ronbo11 Honestly, the best part of the sequels was the return of the legacy characters. (Han, Leia, Luke, Chewbacca, Lando, C3PO and R2D2)
Great reaction. Laughing and crying at the same time. All of these movies are sad when you contemplate the outcome. A proper tragedy.

Wrong anger makes you much stronger, but it makes your vision more clouded
Yes, the Sith of old republic (like 3 000 years before the films) could make themselves so angry that they simply could not die in battle no matter the injuries (or something like that) :D Anakin practically survived the "lava bath" because of his anger.
@@johandark5736 Oh, I didn't know. Now, that sounds stupid... anger brought adrenaline trough your blood, that certainly can makes you stronger, more resistant and quicker... but it doesn't make you immortal. Now, I know it's Start Wars we're talking about, but still...

In all the times I've watched this, i have felt the emotions but never teared up. Till this time. Damn watching you two get so emotional made me actually tear up. Great reaction y'all. 😂
To my knowledge, it had only been 3 years, but you aren't wrong about Anakin leading multiple campaigns.
@@williamrosmer8381 I didn't know.
Really? I just thing they knew from the beginning! I mean, they were creater by order of a Sith Lord, so, even if they were being used by the Republic, it made perfectly sense, for me, than they will still serve a Dark Lord.

After be burned, Vader suffered a lung damage so serious. That´s why he needed
the suit (with a ventilation equipment) to breath and live. Besides, on
purpose, this equpment "worked" with rage, anger and all his suffering. That´s
why I told you in Episode VI that after kill the Emperor, with this
ventilation destroyed and without rage and anger... he couldn´t live.
We went to the theater two or three times to rewatch SW3 ❤

Hela's reactions broke my heart 😭
Hugs, Hela.
But without fear we wouldn’t be cautious, and we wouldn’t care about what happens to ourselves and the people we care about.
@@jmwilliamsart I would instead rely on calm examination of the realities of a situation and making sound decisions, rather than surrendering to hasty actions made without thought or understanding simply because I was fearful. I don’t know if anyone has told you yet but I’m assuming so. But just in case, there is a theory that the emperor used what his master taught him (darth plagueis) to take Padmes life force and transfer it into anakin so he could survive the operation
Which would explain how the emperor knew padme died, because he took her life force

Definitely, Qui Gon would’ve tempered things with compassion and understanding unlike Obi Wan and the rest of the Jedi.
@@jmwilliamsart That would make a great mini-series. The Emperor, learning of Anakin, plotting to kill Qui Gon so that he can ultimately turn Anakin.
This is the "end" and the beggining of a journey most of us wanted to see.
I'm glad you girls enjoyed it
No. That story should begin with "Rogue One."
