I am 48 years old and still cry when I hear this song. I suffered physical and emotional abuse as a child and watched my mom get beat. This song somehow gave me hope it at least knowing that people were aware that these things happen. I just wish that someone would have rescued me from the physical and emotional and social damage that I have suffered. I was hoping that the pretty girl singing the song would rescue me from the situation somehow by telling people that I needed help. I guess you fantasize rescue scenarios when your real life sucks.
