She just shouldnt be a senior and they shouldnt have given her the position of senior without first seeing she was able to do a junior admin job plus the extra load. Honestly, it's probably easier to find another job in that situation. 4 years not being able to do a job isn't good for your confidence or mental health.
_On the one hand, it feels very much like the employer is not confident about performance managing someone out of the job, and because it has been continued for so long, there is a fear of employment tribunal rebuttal if they did._
I had the same situation for 7 years then moved to a different location .Its not worth it for you health.Just get another job.I was physically threatened by a woman over me.Imagine as a man being told and having your wrist shook for forcefully infront of staff and customers. She told me many times she would smash my face in if i didnt get x y and z done.I brought the matter after nearly a year to the company. They moved her out and brought her back three years later.
this is what's wrong with this country 4 years in a job she isn't capable of doing, honestly she is complaining that her employer wants her to do the work she is paid for and not back heel it to someone else
Sounds like they have done her a favour for the last 4 years. I bet her team are frustrated that they have an incapable team member that probably earns more than them and yet they are expected carry her. If you ain’t up to the job you ain’t up to the job end of.
4 years telling you that they are not happy with your performance! Either they are the most generous employer in UK and you should look elsewhere, or they have horrible management methods and you should look elsewhere. In any case, you should looks elsewhere and learn the lesson.
@@powerboon2k I wish I had a boss who let me not do my job properly. Competent people struggle to find work. Then this woman keeps her job for 4+ years… but have never even done it right… crazy times..
It sounds like a mix of incompetent management, letting it drag on for too long, aligned with the employees lack of required capability for the senior admin role. Feels like a step down to a junior role role to give a chance to consolidate and succeed after initial coaching and support failed for the senior role would have been a sensible outcome for both sides.
Sorry to say it but it feels like the caller is lacking self awareness. The employer should probably have never passed her probation but perhaps was feeling generous. But everything about this screams that she is in the wrong job, which means for four years she’s been paid for a role she’s not been performing. The caller should consider that a huge win and move on.
As someone who works for the NHS, I’ve never triggered any sickness or performance. But I know those who have, the problem is those good at their jobs can move from a position of never been off work to been on a final trigger, in a matter of weeks, for just been off for a justified illness . But they are those who know exactly how to play the game and use the sickness policy/performance to their advantage. What I’ve found someone on prolonged performance are just lazy, not bad at their job, just bad and unmotivated, they see the job as a benefits position, regather than a working position. It’s a struggle to get them out, they feel entitled and line mangers just see it as tax payers money. This women is fighting, because she will actually have to work in the private sector. Most get it and buck up, she is seeing it for what she can get at this stage.she’s looking for the unfair dismissal grounds, NHS are slow for this reason, unfair dismissal usually means that department can’t hire after, until the costs have been clawed back. Means a bigger work load for everyone, that’s why they cross the t’s and dot the i’s.Would love to see her sickness record, I’m sure I’d find months off work due to stress, while finding FB post of her in Spain at the same time.
So what if shes. Gone to spain she sounds bloody exhausted. But surely they should have found her competent or over competent as a junior befire making her a senior? Like can you take this extra work on as a junior ok we will make you a senior not make her a senior and then decide shes not competent at level 1 so add more to her load. If they assessed her properly to start with she wouldnt be a senior and if theyre assessing her now as now capable of it they should demote her shed have leas of a workload and it would suite her abilities better. It doesnt matter if she took sick leave to go to spain lots of people find going to spain helps lots of chronic conditions as you should know working for the nhs.

2 year probation is unheard of. Wow! Just leave…
It's just a horrible way to live, no one wins from this sort of situation

Maybe, lots of employers are also assholes who come up with ways of derailing an employee. Either way, the employer is terrible.
