- Early drafts of the screenplay had additional locations omitted from the theatrical release. The video examines the major ones revealing what we could have had seen.

Several days a week, I drive on the road ( very short) kitterage in Poughkeepsie , ny. This is where Dr.Fowler lived according to the phone book . It is named Kitterage place. Only one old building is there on the road. I also used to spend a lot of time at the location where the hospital was supposed to be. The movie used wilderstein in Rhinebeck , ny for the exterior shots. This was owned by Daisy Suckley who was cousins with FDR who often visited. I was friends with a elderly family member years ago.
Ive been watching your Angel Heart videos for a few years now. You never disappoint. :) Just when i think there's nothing more to be said of this fantastic film, you drop another gem. I could talk Angel Heart all day :)
Now I'm gonna watch it again.
Maximum respect for your Angel Heart content, bruh. 👌🏽✊🏽🖤
Absolutely adore this movie and the books.
Thank you for this! I LOVE this movie
This was the most interesting movie, and you do it justice with the most interesting analysis. Really great, super in depth like a doctorate thesis.
My husband worked security for this movie while in New Orleans, can tell alot of interesting info about it. Margaret's house and Harry's hotel were filmed in the same location, during the rain scenes it wasn't raining, they used fire hoses. The pot of gumbo had a sign on it saying inedible. And other tidbits.
Ive been obsessed with this movie since i snuck into the movie theater at like 11 or 12. I think it was the Beacon Hill Theater in Boston, i definitely snuck in there to see Candyman, but it might have been another theater. I could basically get into any theater in Boston for free as a kid.
Anyhoo, its kind of nice to fin out theres a whole bunch if people that are as obsessed asme
Has a theoretical version or directors cut been released! I only have the standard vhs and standard dvd but would love a longer cut of this classic movie !!!
I saw this movie when it first came out... I was fuckin 6 years old.
Now, my folks were always very progressive when it came to what they allowed me to watch and at what age. Particularly my mother, who was a big horror fan. So I literally grew up watching Freddy, Jason, Michael, and The Hell Priest all wreak havoc... 98% of the time there was no issue... although Fred Krueger did give me nightmares after I watched part 2. But they didn't last long.
All that being said?
I think my mother was SUPER uncomfortable watching this with me, due to all the sexual content.
And thanks, by the way.. I have been trying to search this out, but I couldn't for the life of me remember the name of the film... but as soon as I saw the thumbnail with Micky Rourke, I knew it was the movie!
Didn't Friday 13th have sexual content?
Omg I saw this when I was 8 and terrified when the baby and DeNiros eyes change. I was allowed to watch anything 😆 side note is that I was by myself watching this early evening. Generation X kid 😂
I saw on British tv when I was 10 and I’m also quite progressive and it’s still one of my favourite films and I think it may have influenced my taste in film literature and music !!!
Please do an essay on the film The Skeleton Key
The salt mine orgy scene (subway orgy in the novel) should’ve been left in - Harry blackmails Krusemark with photos he took which forces Krusemark to spill the beans about EVERYTHING.
I never bought why in the film he just rattles off everything to Harry when Harry has no leverage on him.
With so little time between Margaret's death and Angel's talk with her father, and because of his willingness to talk with Angel alone, it is unclear if Ethan Cruzemark ever knew his daughter was murdered. We are left to wonder if Ethan or Margaret ever suspected Angel of being Favorite. The author wouldn't tell us, as that would prematurely inform the reader, and narratively, for the same reason, we wouldn't want Angel to even suspect it before the climax. Such an unlikely suspicion would be pointless for either to share if Angel didn't know, and might be something they would quietly consider. What could Margaret see during a palm reading? Ethan and Margaret went to a lot of trouble and expense to aid Favorite in his magical escape from his demonic pact. Was that because of their past association, because that is what Satanic Priests do or because he was interested in seeing that type of magic play out? I think the latter. As they worship the devil, would they share consequences for helping deceive him, and if so, did they even consider that? Were their deaths part of those consequences? Did Cruzemark send goons to intimidate Angel to protect Margaret or to protect Favorite from discovery, since if any human put things together, so would the Prince of Darkness? Did a nosy P.I. threaten Favorite's well laid pan? That is hard to say, since a potentially corrupt wealthy family of practicing cultists would avoid any kind of investigation. Why be so cordial to him when he shows up in person and reveal his family secrets if he did not know that Margaret was dead? Why did he do this if he did know that Margaret was dead? Why if he suspected Angel of being either Favorite, Margaret's killer or both, and if if so, did he suspect him of soon being his own killer? Did he only suspect and wonder what revelations a returning Favorite would bring with him and did this curiosity overpower his self preservation? Was curiosity all that was left with Margaret gone? These and more questions still linger with me.
I would have preferred that they had stayed in New York and followed the book closer, concerning the characters and important incidents that would have made it a bit more action noir motif.
Whath about the second book angel inferno ,whath this book about its about Favorite and Angel,i cant find it
I got and read it off Kindle Unlimited (was free).
@@josephstreppa3123 so whath is this book about
Love your series but there is much you can build upon. I would love to see you deep dive into all of the names in the story. They are all ciphers - or a cheap parlor trick - but All have esoteric meaning. Literally Nothing has been missed. (One example: Liebling = Favorite)
Also, the Kingdom Hall. This is not a Christian establishment. Pastor John is blaspheming by calling himself God. This would explain how Cypher is able to sit in the throne and why everything is covered in red. This is his establishment. The dialogue states the dead husband took a gun to the head. That doesn't necessarily meaning un-aliving. It probably meant sacrifice. It may also be a wink of "past or John", but I'm undecided.
It is also inferred that the Roman Catholic church is corrupt, as well. Ciphere says he has a meeting with the pope and has no issue with being in the church (iconography is questionable). The Protestants have recollection of the past and are seen in the water (baptism), whereas the other followers are oblivious either by choice or delusion. The way the detective carries Epiphany's child is reminiscent of the statue of St Francis.
I believe it's not coincidence that the nurse at Sarah Dodd Harvest (that name is meaningful) is a redhead. Even Connie - while not in the book - has significance as well.
Just a few nuggets for you to chew on. Keep up the great work. I don't necessarily agree with all of your Kubrick takes but have been enjoying the Alien series and your insights into the 9th Gate. I don't have the ambition to create content but love to share what I've learned through my studies.
I hope you enjoy exploring the above topics. There's a Lot there. Have fun!
"Mecca is that way. You were praying to Yonkers." Woke up the whole building laughing at that 😂
