  • How do you determine if negative feelings are from hormone issues or a sinful nature?
When it comes to feelings, feelings are a physiological response to something. It’s an emotion. It’s in our body. We can’t necessarily control where feelings come from (ie. hunger). It’s not a sin to just feel a feeling. It’s what we do with that feeling that makes it sinful or not. Hormone issues can be a root of a feeling that’s sinful or a feeling that we have to surrender to the Lord, move past and choose not to act on or wallow in. There is a definitive line that is hard to identify for us humans as to when it crosses over to sin. Clearly we are told in the Bible that Jesus was tempted as every man’s been tempted and yet He was without sin. That makes it very clear that being tempted is not sining. It’s obviously a sin when you act out in those things though.
A defining characteristic of Christians is that we are not bondage to our bodies anymore in Christ. We’ve been set free from any captivity that our bodies had over us prior to Christ. Our old man is dead. We are new creations in Christ. We came to Christ in faith and are now no longer slaves to sin, but we are redeemed in Christ’s righteousness. We are learning and growing as Christians every day. The Bible tells us to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior. Growth is a part of being a Christian.
“A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.” - Proverbs 22:3
What’s one vice that you’re always praying to overcome? A scary thing a lot of Christians do is categorize various big sins like pornography, drunkenness and adultery and think that you’re good if you haven’t done those things. God’s standard is so much higher than these overt sins we like to categorize.
How do you overcome your vice? If it’s a conviction thing then you need to bring it to the Lord and know that you’re free to walk away from it. There are many things that aren’t a sin unless you make it a sin.
One things that has been helpful is being clear on what we actually want our life to look like and then being proactive and spending our time doing that instead. If you’re passionate and excited about that thing, then you won’t have the time to do those other things that were consuming your life and becoming a vice.
In our Christian walk, we should be thinking about who we are turning towards, instead of what we are turning away from. It is very easy to wallow in the sin of what we did today and the sin of the past. We have to be daily turning towards Christ. The only freedom from any vice is going to be found in Jesus Christ, in what He’s accomplished and who He is!

PSA TO ALL WOMEN: please look into "cycle syncing" god has given us a body clock (our 28 day hormonal cycle) that we can honor through living in harmony with our cycle. This can help us determine different nutritional/supplemental needs and how they vary week to week. It allows us to pause when needed (the week before menstruation) and put your pedal to the metal when it's conducive to your unique phase (ovulation).
Men have a 24 hour hormonal cycle and we simply don't. However our world is based on the typical male hormonal cycle. If more women lived in synchronicity with their beautiful god given cycle, the world would be a more peaceful place.
Love to you both and thank you for this conversation ❤

I really like that perspective of, what are we turning towards instead of what are we turning away from.
Also wanted to mention that it’s important to not only try to battle with hormonal emotions but to find an underlying cause and deal with the issue. Do something to balance your hormones instead of constantly battling against them. Also things like impatience and “short fuse” can be fixed by getting more sleep or meeting your needs in other ways, as mentioned. Nutrient deficiencies can make you more irritable, impatient, angry, etc. Make sure you’re not hangry while discussing stressful things that require a lot of mental energy. Great tips! I enjoyed this podcast a lot!

I feel when we are a “Child of God” have a prayer life, faithful to the House of God, filled with His Spirit, all of the “vices” are under the blood. Yes, we still have our human nature.

    So good!
I’ve been doing a lot of hormonal research because that’s a huge struggle right now, and basically if you’re overwhelmed and anxious due to hormones its sorta out of your control until you get your levels normalized…and another podcast “Famous at Home” he’s a clinical psychologist and talks about how if you’re anxious, a part of your brain that regulates emotions basically shuts down😬 which is kinda cool that the Lord designed it that way, but also hard to walk through on a daily basis, and there is freedom in him but also a huge reality of things out of your control.

Thank you so much for this honest conversation. So often I hear couples talk and the “strong” Christian’s seem to only have “little” faults. So hearing you all be so so honest about struggles, details of selfishness and actual examples is actually BIBLICALLY beneficial because I feel I can grow and learn from you all. I walked away feeling called to repent but not beaten down. If you all played it “perfect” I could have been tempted to walk away with jealousy and feeling like I couldn’t relate to you all and your “perfect” life.
Looking up to Katie and knowing how much she loves being a wife and mother and still struggle with sin helped sharpen me. Thank you.
Even when he said his selfishness and struggles and she talks about how she responds verses… he is perfect and always is… idk I am kinda rambling. Thank you for your honesty because it brought conviction, repentance and iron sharpening iron. ❤️ God bless you both and the truth you stand on. It’s hard to stand on truth in this world but I hear you all do it time and time again. ❤️

Such a good perspective! I too have been justifying my awful mood with my hormonal condition that deals with my thyroid, or in pregnancy seasons, put the blame on the hormones there. Very eye opening and encouraging, love you guys 👏🏽👏🏽

This might be unpopular opinion but I view video games as the equivalent to kids as alcohol is to adults. In moderation and as long as you're not consuming too much but there are people with natural tendencies to depend on it more than others just came to me in the last couple of minutes but it is really making impression and how true this really is!

The Bible says we have a high priest who is able to understand and it also says was tempted by everything yet without actually sinning so Jesus definitely was depressed, stressed, happy, sad, but all without sinning. I love y’all’s podcast especially with chad or mama Neasie! Haha 😂 you guys are such a bright light in a dark world and I am so great full I found your podcast! As a women hormones are crazy haha so this is a very interesting perspective on these topics!! Keep on keeping on! In Jesus Mighty Name!
