Their commercials were on TV all the time and they were "partnered" with most of the major NYC sports teams. Their mascot wasn't dressed like a king though and their commercials were more slickly produced than what is shown here.

Elaine is victim of advertising. On subconscious level it influences everyone, but with men it often has reverse effect : they detest and despise everything what they see in commercials. In my 60+ years of life I never bought anything which was advertised in TV or in internet. And I never regret it, personal experience and advisement from good friends are much more worth than any commercial.

If advertising didn't work they wouldn't spend billions on it, and every study they've ever done on people that say they "aren't influenced by commercials" or anything similar all turn out to indicate the opposite. Sure, you might be able to actively will yourself to not buy something you see in a commercial, but lots of advertising is much more subtle than that. And it's been proven a million times over that it works.
