What is sustenance in Islam? | Jumu'ah Khutbah | Sh. Yaser Birjas
Allah guarantees sustenance, as He says: "And in the heaven is your provision and whatever you are promised" (51:22). Therefore, a person will receive their full sustenance as decreed by Allah and will not leave this world until they have received it all. Our duty is to work diligently, as Allah says: "It is He who made the earth tame for you-so walk among its slopes and eat of His provision. And to Him is the resurrection" (67:15). This clearly indicates the need to seek sustenance. While Allah is the provider, one must not be lazy but should take all necessary steps and then rely on God.
