I was with you until you started going on about the build quality. Every other helmet I’ve used, like the HGU-56, all use Velcro, hot glue, and are built the same way. The Velcro allows you to make precise adjustments and have a perfect fit that won’t give you headaches (been there). Yeah it requires a little upkeep, but I’ll take that over distracting pain. The saltwater environment is brutal on equipment and it doesn’t surprise me that there is some corrosion on the smaller hardware.
So have you tried the MSA Galett helmets? I heard nothing but good things about them.Meritt Helmets in St. Augustine, FL have a very good reputation. Good video btw.
Thanks for the good review and for comparing it to motorcycle helmets as I've been doing myself. These things are ridiculously overpriced. I dont see why we cant just put a headset in a motorcycle helmet ourselves which is basically the exact same thing but cheaper and maybe even better.
I appreciate this video, I'm currently in the great debate about whether I should buy a nice headset, like the A20, or just send it and get a helmet. Do you know what other helmets your fellow south pacific cowbodys are using? Do they mostly use that same one? or different ones? I would also love to see some more in depth content about your equipment you use, especially the MD500.
EVO helmets are a direct copy of the gallets...China quality. Yes, I agree with you that these helmets are way overpriced...but classify it as "Avaition" then your paying rocketing prices. Parts are also overrated as well and once you install a Bose a20, you have already voided the warranty.

Great video, been looking at these myself….including the same colour! Is that the matte orange? Thanks for the review!

Totally agree - I'm looking for something decent for a reasonable price.

I would reccommend looking into CEP's, try those first, only about 3-400 dollars and then if you find those aren't good enough THEN upgrade.
That's how you get beef cake neck
