Thanks for the sizing! All I can find on their site is the basic chart, and the review comments are all over the place… I can visually see your fit, and you’re display of measurements…superb. Thank you, very much!
Don't discount any of the high-end 'hunting' brands. They're driving cutting-edge outdoor clothing. I used to purchase high-end 'mountain' brands but all my stuff comes from KUIU, Sitka, and Stone Glacier now.. they're pushing the outdoor industry. Thankfully they have non-camo colors for all round use.
I’m looking at a the KUIU 200 Merino Hoodie and wanting to use it to replace my UL puffy as a mid layer coupled with a Polartec Alpha base layer and rain jacket as my outer layer. What would your thoughts be on this as a layering system for hiking down to high teens?
Great question! I have not used the KUIU 200 Merino Hoodie yet, so I can not speak on how warm it is. But, I have used other brands mid-weight merino in layering systems with success. In my case, it is usually for touring during splitboarding. In that case, it is usually a merino base layer with a breathable shell (soft or hard), light fleece gloves and a hat. Temps are usually 5-25F. Hope that helps!
Hey Sean, great video, really informative for a brand and product i've only just come across. I'd be approaching this from a thru hiker perspective, so sun protection, heat management is key. My questions for you are: how does it stack up for odour prevention? And is it a credible barrier from biting bugs/mosquitos? Many thanks.
Hello!! Thank you for the nice note. These are fantastic hiking pants. Among my favorite. We don’t have much bugs here in Colorado (thank goodness!) but we do have mosquitos. I rely on bug spray when out camping. So I can not advise on specific qualities of the pants in regards to any bug. Sorry!
Would you recommand going up a size ? My chest is 39" and im torn between M and XL (also im 5’9" tall and weight 163 lb). Usually M suits me with other brands
what was the exact name of the color you got in the shirt? you said "brown" in the video but the names are different on Kuiu website. Great review, btw.

Agreed! I live in KUIU pants almost year round.

Thank you Ethan! The exact color is Ash. Since this review, I have been enjoying it for winter camping and splitboarding as well. Great layer.
Thanks for the reply, will be getting one!
