Only 16 minutes?!?!? I was fully expecting a 3 part documentary from the first part of the dev block.
I don't know whether this was intended as a joke or genuine critisism of Necrit as a content creator but I think Riot is mostly to blame here. Necrit has literally run out of lore to cover so he pivoted to other kinds of videos (which is fine, imo)

They said "Bullet Heaven" that is literally the genre of "Vampire Survivors" and similar games. this wasn't a surprise.
You mean Magic Survival. Vampire Survivors was inspired by that game.
@@kroneexe But that's not how naming conventions usually work. They are based on what popularized it. Look at "Doom clones" in the 90s when Doom itself wasn't the original FPS. "Metroidvania" usually has more in common with Symphony of the Night than Metroid or anything akin to early Castlevania games. It's also why "Bullet Heaven" was chosen by the fanbase because calling a genre by comparison is awful and should discourage it. (Looking at you SOULSLIKE)
@@Ashtarte3D Soulslike is really the only accurate description for those types of games, though. The Souls games have a very specific combat style, and if a game emulates that then it's a Soulslike, if it doesn't then it's just a regular action RPG.
@@Ashtarte3D soulslike are VERY SPECIFIC when it comes to gameplay, so it honestly works there. It just means that you have combat like the souls games, which is stamina based+i-frame dodges mostly. Metroidvania often has disagreement between what it should prioritize (there was a whole discussion about ori and the blind forest vs hollow knight for comparision), but the fact that you explore wildy as you gain new tools is standard practice still. As for vampire survivor style games.. those are usually referred to as action roguelikes, not bullet heavens? Not sure where this comes from.

I feel like the main reason people drop new gamemodes a while after they come out is because the league community always looks for the best way to win the game and once a clear top 10 or so champs have been established the games become extremely monotonous.
That's why it's time to move on... TO THE MMO!! I NEEEEED ITTTTT AHHHH

@mercerwing1458 I think a meta in an mmo can be... "managed" far more than a full pvp moba no? Every game has an optimal way to play. It's about how big of a difference it makes 🤔 and we all know in league the gap can be quite significant.

Bullet Hell is dodging bullets.
Bullet Heaven is killing monsters by large quantities, usually with bullets, but not exclusively. I. E. Vampire Survivors.

Belveth with 6 grubs and Herald in one for all I saw a literal horde of void. I don't think the 3d models are going to cause issue to be fully honest.
One thing I noticed about the screenshot, jinx doesnt have a passive, but that icon is on her w. She also doesnt have summoner spells, but in the place one looks like caitlyn ult.
Seems like it's gonna be a kind of random ability draft format.
It'd be cool to see arena work in a way similar to TFT, having new mechanics and differences for seasons getting people to play it again every time more releases even if they wouldn't normally.

We actually already have an example of turning a survivor game into 3D models via DRG Survivors. It works very well.

Technically that is completely normal not just for game modes but also games
Usually the hype dies off and then all that is left are the true enjoyer of the game or gamemode
@@Hixaiko yeah which i find odd how riots just trying to keep up hype, and not trying to pander to the TRUE arena enjoyers not just the ones who stay for the hype. Like for aram theres many players who wont even touch it, but its awesome to play but not ALL the fuCKING time, so i dont understand why riot thinks people will just enjoy playing something 24/7 thats just fucking stupid, people will get tired of playing the same thing over and over thats why they need a break and then they'll come back. it happens all the time with aram and summoners rift
@@opportunity3278 they do know that, in fact thats why they are hesitant about making it permanent. they don't *expect*, but rather *require* consistency ALL the fuCKING time.
also, people don't really take a break from aram or summoners as of shifting to the other(or so I perceived throughout the years). people mostly just take a break from the game itself.

I was expecting at least 30 minutes to go along with my morning breakfast! We the people demand the *Directors Cut* to this video!!!
It would make sense for them to be working on a Vampire Survivors, since that's what's been most played on the DotA arcade for ages now, and last time a custom DotA game got a disproportionate amount of attention it became a permanent feature to clog up the league client, though this time it hasn't taken 80% of the userbase hostage for long enough to make valve think it's a good idea to release it as a standalone failure xD
Actually, you can see that the 3d sprite horde of enemies are fine in Deep Rock Survivor game, which is a game from the same genre.
I like that aram always stay steady and tft growing xD
16:01 I'd assume they drop support of DirectX 9 just for that exact reason, so it will be easier for them to optimise and have better performance in this new pve mode.
Wasn't planning on playing any ranked this year, but once i learned that the Victorius skin was for Kog'Maw, i knew i had to go for the grind. Let the Golden Brick Road commence!
Easy solution for the visual limits of the VS mode: Just make the event Arcade themed and replace all the enemy models with 2D sprites moving in the 3D space.

with the minimap being like that i'd assume heavy inspiration from warcraft 3 custom games which would not mean vampire survivors but rather kill a wave then buy some upgrades and repeat with occasional pvp.

The thing is, Bullet Hell classifies to the gameplay like those Vel'Koz, Touhou being like, the most primordial example to a Bullet Hell
Bullet HEAVEN, however, is a contrast of the opposite, where the mobs don't zone you in tons and tons of bullets, but you're the one to bring the bullets
and so the contrast is that you can toss everything you can at them while they can only just walk you down and swarm you in numbers, than in projectiles
With one of the more popular examples being Vampire Survivors as you yourself mentioned, which is the one who brought the genre up
and sprung some inspiration to other games such as Holocure (which is in steam go try it, it's completely free I'm totally not biased here)
so, technically, yeah it's their first bullet Heaven
Definitely welcome as an occassional aram and revolving game mode only player
the problem with rotating game modes is that you get nothing in return.
once the fun points are over theres no reward or insentive to continue , even the "eternals and archivements" are usually disabled for some reason. if riot wants people to play more just give people something.

I would love to see different team sizes in arena. You could maybe even queue into multiple at a time and just get matched into whatever the game found for you first (to lower queue times) you could probably go up to 4 teams of 4 or down to 8 teams of 1. I think that would be alot of fun.
FWIW Deeprock Galactic Survivors also isn't 2D. I'd say their polygon/asset fidelity is about that of what league uses and has pretty great performance from my perspective. You can kinda test the impact of this in practice tool by fast-forwarding and stacking minion waves on target dummies

Worst case scenario they just make everything tankier including the player so they don’t have to have too much on the screen without lowering or increasing the difficulty too drastically
My main 2 questions is how will melee champions work and will items be full random or will they go with anvils and we have to buy components and combine them into full items

I've played my share of Saviors-like games that are 3D and they have all played smoothly. If Rito can patch their bugs and spaghetti code(probably not) it can be a good game.

There are a lot of 3D survivors games and most to none issues with 3D
2:00 when it comes to arena the only thing why I didnt play it was that revive circle .. it limited the number of champions you could play because you must have picked a chapion that can survive in the circle .. that was a incredibly stupid decision . for exaple I like to play teemo but I couldnt because if my teammate die I cant fight the circle because Im not very good at all in playstyle
Anyone remember the league skill game where you play as ezreal and minions, skill shots coming to you that game was lit imagine we get something like that in actual game i would put hours in ngl
Bullet Hell is what SG event was. thats where you dodge enemies bullets. Bullet Heavens are where you ARE the bullets, and you mow down hoards of enemies IE vampire survivors.
Don't worry Necrit, there are plenty 3D versions of vampire survivor in the app store. It's definitely possible

Love the fact that all arena mode is - basically a bridge between TFT and aram modes takin the best parts of both and throwing them together...speaking of aram are we ever gonna get that ranked aram thing they talked about a while back? any news on that?

For someone who does a lot of research and reading you seem to have missed the reason why vampire survivors come up when you look up Bullet Heaven. As most comments have pointed out it's like looking up what a Metroidvania is and being excited it could mean similar to Castelvania/Metroid.
One of the reasons why i think you see a big spike and then a drop in playerbase for arena is exactly because poeple know it is not permanent. (this is the case with me) I would want to play as much of it as possible because i know it will be gone after a while but after playing so much i het burned out from it and want to take a break.

12:40 how the hue shifted here to purple and maybe saturation wet down is something i am fan off and the god skin i dont like how the tattoo or mark yellow parts stand out more from his skin color, with the god skin it makes more sense if the color almost merges with his skin
Hunt for the Blood Moon game mode needs to come back
I really really was hoping for something more like Star Guardian or Odyssey. I had more fun in those modes then any other time.
I'm still cautious about what the mode is gonna be like, but I would be lying if I am not excited, bit by bit of what I love about league is coming back slowly.

wtb all pick all mid, with different maps, different and varying objectives and puzzles/challenges/boss spawn events that are random for every game. I want innovation and unexpected surprises. People want something new, something unexpected, something new, something to be excited about working towards is also fun and engaging. Replayability is key.

Another problem with the concept of Vampire Survivors for League is... you don't move with WASD in League. You use the mouse. Meanwhile in VS and similar games you DO use WASD or the arrow keys to move around, because it's simply way more functional that way. You can aim with your mouse while being able to move freely in all directions. It's... kind of required for such a game.
Works OK on dota survivors though. Probably gonna be the same here.

The issue with arena with me was first time the meta was too stale when I wanna try fun stuff and I felt punished for doing so and lost everytime I did
I also felt like it was too clear too fast who was wining
This video made me realize that Arena is basically Battlerite 2.0
