you can actually play a RR sitting down. It is infinitely easier to play a RR sitting down vs a standard V. Now do you have to play it differently, yes. You have to play it with the neck point more up in the air. The weird side effect of doing this is that you have much more reach with your left hand which comes in handy if you are a shredder and play 3nps. so IMHO it is different but not a deal breaker. My RR is a 2016 RRTMG Pro with EMG 81/89 (the 89 is an 85 with a coil split) with pretty much the same features you described. Not my daily player but still definitely a keeper. I honestly think you gave up on it too soon.
Great vid! That first You Suck! caught me so off guard 🤣 I'm a lefty with super limited options, and couldn't hit the Buy Now button fast enough when LTD made the SnakeByte (Hetfields Explorer) left handed. Everything about the guitar is beautiful, perfect ebony fretboard and awesome frets, fairly light for that huge chunker of a body, easy to play sitting or standing... But -I *hate* the Het Set active pickups in it. They drive a couple of my solid state amps nuts, and since it's now pretty much a case queen the 9v is usually dead between times I give it another chance. I love it too much to sell it and also love it too much to hack it up with a hot standard pickup like SD Invaders or something. Sorry for the novel, just saying I can relate! Subb'd!
Welcome to the family! How about just the standard EMG 85s? They may not be as hot. My local music store installs pickups for free if you buy them there!
@@GearGasms I have a great soldering setup (I also restore pinball machines) and have added bridge humbuckers to both of my Strats, I'm just reluctant to modify this. It's dumb because it's just the LTD version, though it wasn't a cheapie but here I am stuck with my albatross that I won't play, mod or sell. I need to somehow adopt your attitude with the Rhoads. 🤣
I felt the exact same way as you! Please try to give it a chance riding on your leg, and set the neck at a comfortable distance to play. Jam on some Randy Rhodes licks and it will grow on ya.
"You Got To Stand Out And Play It !" That sounds like 80's hair metal album title ! :) Actually that output positioning allows it to be played in classical guitar style.
Before even hitting play I knew it was the "sitting down" thing ... dude just leave the strap on (you will have to shorten it a bit) and it will sit exactly where a strat does off your right leg. BUT if you did choose to have it between your legs without a strap the you have the perfect guitar when going from sitting to standing because the guitar is in exactly the same spot in both positions .... RHOADS V's RULE
Alan, Well yes. Trying to play a mess like that guitar sitting down would be a pain! I have my own beef with Jackson guitars in general: they only offer guitars with a floyd or no whammy at all. I can't hang with Floyds :D Rock on my dude.
You still got it for sale? Also where’s it made at? Because if it’s like Japanese or American, I got a prs ce22 I’m trying to see about trading for something. Great guitar, got it to match my favorite car, but I’m just not gelling with it. Not a fan of the pickups personally, and I don’t like the fret size, I’ve just gotten used to bigger frets. Great guitar tho. 2003 whale blue

Well besides all that I have too many guitars in general
Randy was so small that the Jackson was the only guitar that made him look bigger xD
True!

Yeah sometimes the solution is to send it on
I actually find the Epiphone and Gibson V's to be more comfortable sitting down with.
Oh absolutely!

But I already sold it! 🤓🤘🏻

Yeah that’s the way I’d see Randy do it but he was into classical
@@GearGasms I forgot that the V - shape is difficult to set without the strap if sitting if not taking the "Randy style".

Yes but no
I love these guitars I'd buy it if i had anymore room for anymore guitars.
Already sold it but I have no understand

That’s true about the Floyds. Charvel offers some the Gotoh trem but not Jackson
What a little girl !
My pronoun is wussy boy
Well Alan, its like my grandad used to say…don’t let your hardware store 🫤
Lol
Now let’s hear the guitars side of the story, and its complaints? 😉😂
lol it’s in someone else’s hands now but I’m sure it’s relieved

It’s long gone
First commenter Mr. Big ! I don't even know what a RRT2 was?
Lol
What ? Seriously ?
Huh?
I don't care for the body shape. I guess that is due to age. All my guitars are all traditional shapes.
The Gibson Flying V was introduced by Gibson in 1958 man, traditional as rock 'n roll if you ask me... that said, not for me either.
🤘🏻
Isn’t funny though how we still consider the V and the Explorer to be non traditional?
I'm 52 and to me the Jackson Rhoads IS a traditional shape hahahahaha
