So Chad you defame and criticise Larry over 2 episodes in view of hundreds of thousands of people on RUclips, completely destroying his reputation.
And now everything is suddenly sweet with the car and your happy with it?
You decided to buy the car after inspecting it in person.
You were completely wrong on the body mounts and the whole thing was on you mate, you created that whole scenario and the conflict, take some responsibility.
Happy to see your trip is progressing smoothly so far. You kinda blindsided Larry with that phone call from hell accusing him of selling you an unsafe car without body mounts and even hung up on him when he was trying to accommodate you to resolve the issue! I’m sure if you just explained your concern about safety nicely and not in an accusatory manner he would have agreed to have the car inspected by a professional mechanic to make sure the car was safe to drive on the trip. Maybe in the future you can let Jolene do all the negotiating and you can work the camera. She would be much less confrontational and you would get better results I’m betting! At the least you owe Larry a public apology because he sold you a great car and accommodated you in every way. He is an honest man and should not have something like this affect his reputation! Good luck with your trip and I look forward to seeing what you encounter on the road back.
I agree with you 100%. I would like to know what he expected the out come would be. He had to know he was making a mistake in even calling.Jack.
Guys just do utube easy as or just watch it
Whatever the situation, I've yet to find a trusting good mechanic, seems like most just want your money. Have to learn for myself how to do things.
It's never a good idea to just phone up make the accusation and wing it from there. Explain what's wrong and have an idea what you want for resolution - take the car back and get your money back or get a couple of hundred dollars back to pay to have the mounts fitted, maybe. Hoping he would offer to come and get the car from where you were, give you the money back and drive you to the airport was a bit optimistic! It all went wrong when you laughed and you both got angry. Anger just makes things go nowhere, which is where it ended up.
Pity because Larry did seem a straight guy and as you are starting to see the car isn't so bad, maybe you can say some kinder words about him soon...
Also I have never seen a fabricator that couldn't mechanic. He doesn't know much. I was surprised.Jack.
The way Chad handled that deal was kinda chicken shit. He guy was a square guy and he treated him like crap.
no kidding
Square guy ? Your a moron if he was square he would have not listed as rust free when it’s rusted or safetied when couple body mounts where not attached. If he would have been a “square guy” he would have offered to give his money back when he was called
I’d have to disagree. The guy is lucky Chad wanted the car bad enough to look past the COMPLETE MISREPRESENTATION of the car by that guy. He was trying to pass the blame on “The mechanic”. Well let me inform the 138 people who liked your comment…
The mechanic wasn’t the one selling it. The supposed “vehicle appraiser” is the one who sold it. So he bares responsibility for what he’s selling and claiming. End of story.
I felt bad for Jolene and Chad. But especially Jolene for the fact that she was only in agreement to do the trip with the mindset that it was safety inspected.
I’ve bought many old cars myself so maybe that’s why I sympathize with this kind of situation.
Bad chad, you and your queen Jolene are crazy popular. Don’t let the handful of jerks who are talking shit about you, don’t let them get to you. You got 250,000 subscribers and maybe 30 smart asses who are jealous of you. I’m so happy for you and queen Jolene and you certainly deserve this because maybe some people forget how you put a video out every single day and that is a lot of work, God bless you and Jolene and I hope you continue to have a very, very happy time and successful trip !! 👏✌🏼🙏❤️🍻
Chad being 51 years old . Looking over that car like you did before purchase and acting like you did over that car. You should be mad at yourself for anything You overlooked.
Good car Larry sell a good car to bad shad.
Thank you for taking us all with you Chad & Jolene I know I enjoyed the ride
Trip going well so far 👍 keeping enjoying the drive home
You owe an apology to the man you bought the car from,if you want any type of credit ability back.
Amen to that
Credibility.
Credibility you mean like when you say a car is rust free but its not or when you say it's certified but there is body mounts missing so it would never pass like that .
@Rad Ham and it takes more than being a real man to apologise if he knows that he was wrong
One is not a man unless he admits his mistakes. We all make mistakes. Have a great day folks
Long story short, he sold you a good car, said it was a good car and it is
It’s not certified. There’s no way it’s certified. It’s just not possible it’s certified. He said it was certified. No way it’s certified……………😂
Mr get off of chads Knob.
@mrgrumps3062Chad knew it wasn’t rust free when he saw the rust on the first video. The car was restored 40 years ago. What do you expect for it to be perfect? PAY ATTENTION!
I see the body hasn’t fallen off yet. 🤔 Hmm? Pretty hard for the body to fall off when it’s running board mounts.
@@Zooooom01 😆 🤣 😆 🤣 😂
Are the body mounts not a concern anymore? 🤔 or is you concern that the car is not validated by a government agency 🤔 im confused why you haven addressed what seemed to be the end of the world crisis a couple day back 🤔

I don't get the misrepresented part' granted he said the ad stated one thing and the paperwork said another surely he went to school long enough to learn how to read he had all that in his hand and decided to hand over the money and was offered it back this is on him no matter how he tries to misdirect the blame and try to make himself look blameless
Ad & paperwork stated the same things. Seller also repeatedly told him the same things verbally. But things were not as they were purported to be. Although the seller reluctantly offered to take the car back & return the money, that would have left Chad & Jolene in unfamiliar suburbs, 90+ km from the airport.
He don't have any money that is Jolene job to handle the money
@@rndmotorsportsgarage4209 guarantee he can fabricate you any day of the week you punk
I think the guy that sold you the car just told you what he knew about it, he was not the one who had it certified. Remember you looked under it and you didn’t see anything wrong. I been following you a long time and I feel like you are putting all the blame on him for a car he did not build. I’m thinking a little less of you at the moment.
This seems to be a good car
"If you have a chance to do something like this"
Whats that? Buy a car then cry like a baby like the guy ripped you off.
Lost a lot of respect for you on that deal
@@charlesshort4287 He was definitely going to give the car back ! I would have too ! That crybaby show was pathetic !
Just remember that while you’re having fun and enjoying yourselves, Larry is probably going to be upset and stressed thinking about the whole encounter for awhile. It matters how you treat people. He didn’t deserve the aggression
I agree! Let's see some closure to this uncomfortable event.
I agree, I don’t feel that was handled well at all, maybe it would have gone differently if Chad had understood how certifications work in Ontario, we pay certified mechanics for safety’s and we trust they are legit (apparently a mechanic in the comments told me they are only good for 30 days) so if Chad wanted one done again he could have asked the guy to get a new one, but he was already helping him out by holding it for him while they worked out travel plans. I don’t imagine the seller drove it all that much so as long as the safety was good and legit the car is likely still sound, and as they’ve had no problems driving back so far, makes me think it’s good. As for the rust I didn’t see it, I’ve asked if anyone else saw it and didn’t get any mature answers, I’m guessing anything underneath is just surface rust I doubt that’s it’s rotting away.
I hope you called the seller and apologized for freaking out over a running board mount on a 75 year old car....Drama Queen. I thought you were bigger than that.
Very sad they acted this way. Still hasn't admitted he was wrong for acting like a jerk.
Maybe you should apologize to the previous owner, after your attack.
@Rad Ham nope
You are right Chad the jobs all went to China years ago believe it or not this I wut it looks like all over the us well not everywhere but through out the us there are places like this all over it's sad wit has happened if you ask me😢
My comment is...Chad doesn't know anything about this particular car or even related models like it. As an example, he overreacted to the body mounts. Further, the car wasn't put up on a lift and all sub systems checked....not that Chad would know what to look for. It doesn't appear he has checked the brake fluid level and yet its clear there is air in the lines because he is pumping the brakes. He/they maybe one brake short of no brakes.
So...I am an automotive engineer not that is matters but...this whole trip is pretty irresponsible and dangerous. Further Chad doesn't have a suitable set of tools, back up parts like distributor points, engine belts etc.
Not many reasonable minded mechanics buying a 75 y.o. car would attempt this. Maybe a devil may care solo trip, but never with a loved one needlessly put in harm's way.
This is a case where ignorance is bliss or may turn out not to be. Hoping for the best. In life, sometimes it helps to be more lucky than good.
I have bought cars and driven them cross country but never with this lack of due diligence.
PS. when selling a prized and vintage old car like this, I don't like selling it to an ungrateful rube like Chad who knows nothing about this genre of Ford. I would have requested he bring the car back because I wouldn't want him to have it. The car deserves a more knowledgeable and respectful owner.
Extremely well said!
Methinks Larry is owed an apology.
The temp. gauges on these Flatheads are set to show full hot at 190 degrees. The reason is that back then they used mostly water in them and so it read full hot just before the boiling point. If you replace the sending units (one on each head) with senders out of a 1953 flathead, they won't show full hot until it reaches near the boiling point. On my 49 flathead I also run two mechanical temp. gauges because flatheads do not mix water inside the block. Each bank of the engine is totally separate from the other. That is why they have two water pumps, and two separate thermostats. My mechanical gauges run right at 175 Degrees no matter how hot it is outside, and it gets hot where we live in the eastern Washington desert. Another thing you should know is that Flatheads do NOT have oil seals on the exaust valves, so they do use a little oil. Mine uses about a quart every 1000 miles, and that is where i change oil as mine does not have tahe sorry excuse they had for an oil filter. TOP. I have had probably more Flatheads than most. and I have always used diesel motor iol 15/40 Dello 400. I highly recommend this as this oil has all the good vitamins that these older engines need. Have a good rest of your trip. Wes
Chad is a good body and sheet metal man but his mechanical skills are lacking.
Larry said it drives real good,he was right.give the man some credit ,please don't be seeking everything and cursing the man,It's wrong to do that! Walk in love guys and be blessed!

The car was certified because there's nothing wrong with it, it's an 80+ yr old car, technology. And if you're not a mechanic you should consult one before you buy.
Hi Chad. Have you researched the body mounts being on the main chassis rails yet?
He has plans to ruin this car anyways

If those were in fact running board mounts Chad owes Larry a public apology.
they indeed are running board mounts, I think he was just upset the car was not mint
@mr grumps Is chad a custom car builder? The guy did not force him to buy it. He had all the time in the world to check over the car. "Rust free" can mean one thing to someone and another to someone else. Hence why YOU always inspect a car before you give any money.
@mrgrumps3062 Geesh! Chad saw the rust before he bought it! He mentioned it in the video. Does anybody listen to the videos are they that much mesmerized by Chad and don’t listen?
@mrgrumps3062 Forty year old restoration. Chad mentions the rust after he looked at it and still bought it. It must not of been a big deal then. Let’s see, forty years ago makes that 1983 when that car was restored that car was old when it was restored. Now the car is almost eighty years old. That car was probably restored when most of the people commenting here weren’t even born yet.
@mr grumps I assume you have never bought a old car before. I have bought hundreds. Everytime someone says "rust free" i have found rust. It is not that they are lying. They just don't know. It is up to the BUYER to determine if they want to purchase it after inspecting it. The fact you can't comprehend that is odd.

😮📞😬 It seems like there was some miscommunication during that phone call with Larry. While it's important to address concerns about safety, it's crucial to approach the conversation in a respectful and non-accusatory manner. Explaining your concerns calmly and discussing a professional inspection would have been a better approach. Perhaps letting Jolene handle negotiations in the future could lead to smoother outcomes. Hows the not body mounts doing
Time to apologize to Larry,
You mean the body didn't fall off due to two missing mounts???? I'm shocked.
Really happy to see a better attitude today. Thank you.
So first the antics with “The Thing” and now this. !!
Chad’s real personality is starting to emerge. !!!
This type of activity and content is suited to Derek from “Vice Grip Garage” but Even he would not attempt this without a suitcase full of tools and would be wrapped to get a vehicle of this caliber to start off with! This is the second bad experience you have documented in recent times and really not that interesting (Maybe all the donated stuff you get you have lost site of what you actually get when paying retail.) Still a subscriber but maybe this change in content not for me. You have asked us to be honest.👍👍👍
Chad, if you don’t pay attention you are going to damage that engine. You have to use non-detergent oil and put in lead additive every time you fuel up. Unleaded gas will ruin the valve seats and detergent oil is bad for the main and rod bearings. If you keep closing your doors with the door handle instead of the arm rest you will ruin the door handle mechanism. Please check the air pressure in the tires. The lug wrench should fit the brake cylinder cap, I would never dream of putting vice grips on a bolt on that car. Your ignorance of these things and complete unpreparedness is not favoring you in this video. If you don’t say something to Larry about being mistaken on the running board hangars being body mounts, and admit you were wrong this will be the last of your series I will remain subscribed for. I’m sure I’m not alone, so man up. It’s just as easy to go from riches to rags.
i would've never thought about trying the lug wrench on the cap, that's a great tip
The lead additive thing is a myth, I thought the same a few years ago. Car has an oil filter so degergent oil *should* be okay
@@ohlookadragon I’m old enough to have been driving when unleaded gas came out, and I can personally attest by my own experience that unleaded gas will take out unhardened valve seats. If you think that just because it has an oil filter it’s okay to use detergent oil you are sadly mistaken. It also needs zinc in the oil. It’s not going to “be okay”. He’s running 10w30 Quaker State when he should be running 15w40 Delo or Rotella. I can already hear the bearings. But what can you tell a guy who refuses to use hearing protection when using a cutoff wheel on sheet metal. That’s why he begins every response when Jolene says something to him with “huh?”.
@@dogalmighty1 got a 30 deluxe roadster haven't put lead additive in it for over a decade. Pulled the head last year to do a small overhaul valves seats were fine no noticeable wear. Started researching the lead cushion thing it's bunk. I do use non detergent oil. I have always heard you need to use it when you have no filtration system. Could definitely be wrong on that though. Can't even find lead additive where I am anymore no one carries in store.
@@ohlookadragon I guess you got lucky, eh?
As a flathead owner myself, you really should be using something like a straight weight non synthetic oil because of the high zinc content that is closer to the oils available when those engines were designed which is not available in today's synthetic oils for modern gas engines. Rotella 30w is a good easy to find oil.
Close the door by pulling on the armrest not the door handle opener

Rochester New York's economy took a huge hit when Kodak shut their doors. They were a big employer in the day, my great uncle and 2nd cousins all worked there. You were correct, you don't k ow how to drive. when shifting into 1st gear, come to a complete stop. Those old cars did not have synchronizers for 1st gear and you will wind up grinding the he'll out of the gear and then you can have another fit and blame the car for it. Furthermore when turning right on red , it is mandatory to come to a complete stop before proceeding. You cannot drive those old cars like the new ones and use 2nd gear to assist in stopping. Less wear and tear on the brakes.
This videos of the car sale are good now but the first video was real crap. You told Larry all that shit but he sells you a great good running car. Are these holders really essential?

Chad may be very good at bodywork but he certainly has no sense when it comes to mechanicals. Surely there's a toolkit in the car, using grips an a classic car is sacrilege. He should no better and not be so frantic and in such a hurry to do things.
I have been watching you for a couple of year, and have learned a lot from your knowledge. But the way you handled this situation was totally wrong. ( We did not get to see your first blow up because you took it off the air. We though you were done wrong ) This time you handled it wrong because Larry did not certified the car, someone else did, he only had the paper work. You crawled underneath the car Jolene said it was jammed against the wall ( went back and watched again) the car was not, probably 5ft from the wall. Larry said that he would give you your money back, but instead you just hung up. My perception is that you wanted the car and money. I was very embarrassed by the way you treated Larry, and hopefully you will call and apologize to him and on camera. You should of talked to Larry in private. The car is beautiful and will not fall apart while driving, which you should already know. Stop and get a bolt and attach if you are so worried, and also purchase a temperature gage, and a socket to check the brake fluid. I am beginning to wonder if you are as knowledge as I once though. In a 76 year old car, there is no way I would of attempted to take my beautiful wife in a car without checking the brakes first. My wife would watch your show with me, but she said "Don't even ask me again" You make her sick. What happened to all the businesses? And it’s not just Rochester! Is all over the country big cities and small towns. Two words. Covid and Biden!
You have to remember that the older cars need lead in the fuel. Today's feel is unleaded. You need to add a additive to the fuel at every tank of gasoline. It will ruin your valves. They are not hardened.
Correct. That flathead doesn’t have hardened valve seats.
Always in hurry, hope he doesn't rush things with 'Queen Jolene' "no what I'm saying" .Who would set off on a 2000km road trip in a 70 year old car that you have never driven before without buying some proper tools. Even Derek from Vice Grip Garage takes off with tools in the trunk. In his self confession Chad said he "says things without thinking first", well he certainly did that with poor old Larry. He also said the car was driving perfect with no problems at all (but what about those mounts that made you throw your toys out of the buggy?).

That engine will be happier with Rotella T4 15w-40. Zinc is important as well as a bit thicker. 10w-30 isn't for old Flatheads.

Hi Jolene and Chad... regarding putting some oil in the generator bearing caps... There appears to be one cap for each bearing (front and back)... but I noticed Chad was only oiling the back one. Take care - have fun!
Hello Chad I am no flat head expert but I was thinking about the Ethanol fuel and you should probably be putting some lead additive in with it. I run shell premium fuel because supposedly they still use lead with it. There are experts who watch your channel and I am sure someone can add to that . I wouldn't want you to cook the engine. SAFE TRAVELS.
