We found a vintage motorcycle that's for sale that's been fully restored... the price is a lot higher than we normally like to pay but since it's been restored we thought it was worth taking the road trip to check it out 💰

Back in the early '70s the CB 750 was considered a super bike, the baddest bike you could buy until the Kawasaki Z1 came along. Fast forward to the late '90s and the CB 750 Nighthawk was considered a "beginner's" bike. How times change. Funny thing is, both bikes are still more capable than most riders. And they're still a blast to ride.
Congrats Chad, on the purchase of this beautiful example of one of the most significant motorcycles of all time.

One of my absolute favorite bikes. In 1972 I was 15 years old and my brother in law had a brand new cb750 and let me take it riding and my first time out I hit 85 miles an hour like nothing and I was hooked. and I’ve loved them ever since. I’ve owned more than I can count and loved them all.
I’m so happy for you guys to find it. I hope you’re able to ride it because that’s one fine bike❤

Chad + Jolene, you probably know that you can treat the inside of that tank and pour in a coating that will completely restore the function and prevent future rust. Kits for that process are readily available. Very Cool video. Thanks!

    • @UmmmmmmmWhat
      @UmmmmmmmWhat Год назад +1

He could coat the red tank, then have it, and the red plastic side covers to change the look of the bike in just a few minutes. Keep the green set like this guy did, but give the red set his personal touch. He could even customize the extra old fenders to make it even more of a transformer.

It is great to see you do what you love and share it with others. I had a new 750 Honda in 1975. My brother had a Kawasaki Z-1. With a 16 tooth counter sprocket (down from stock 18) I could annihilate him at 0 to 100. I'm on one wheel almost the entire time. He would always catch me. I got it up to 165mph racing a 66 GTO that would not submit. He blew his engine when he starting losing ground on me. The wind tore off my flipflips and split my sunglasses down the middle. My tank top was a sail and my feet were in the air behind me,. The speedo was tacked, the dials a blur. The front wheel is more horizontal stabilizer than a wheel at 165mph. You're on the rear wheel once you hit 150mph. It was a rush.

So yes !!! ... you have a first of the run of the first superbikes.. 1969 sandcast models are rare ... but the 64hp for 1971 stayed the same .. in 1972... hp was lowered for emissions.
I was amazed today you and Jolene were picking up the same bike I have ... and the color...

It has lots of aftermarket non OEM parts and the colour is terrible never a oem colour. I have two other 71 museum quality ones. Worth spending the $1000+ and get painted back to OEM colour at the least.

The bike that killed the Triumph Bonneville. Art. I remember racing one through some twisty roads in my Triumph TR4 sportscar when I was in engineering school and couldn't stay with it.
Always one of my favorite bikes. There is a reason why retro motorcycles are so popular. This is before society lost its mind and somebody thought it a good idea to cover a motorcycle in plastic cladding and place the foot controls way up high behind the rider and put all the rider's weight on his hands and other unmentionables that unless you are a gymnast, you can't tolerate.
No idea why you want that motorcycle. Too nice to ride. Maybe take it out once in a while.
In any event, it was compelling to watch this video because it brought back so many memories. Yes, this motorcycle cost more to restore than you paid for it. Maybe he didn't pass it a grandson or nephew because he didn't want to see a family member get hurt on it. He sure put a lot of money and time in it as mentioned, just to sell it. A bit surprising really as he looks to be a man of means.
To me, the 60's and 70's was the pinnacle of America and this motorcycle and Honda with its smaller bikes was a big part of this era.
Thanks for the walk down memory lane.

Video nice, motor cycle nice (i had drive te seem for a bout three years a brown with gold stripes cb 750 four 5 gear, a very fast motor forthat time, we live near the German Boarder in the Netherlands and on that time round about the 1980-1983 there were no limits in Germany on the AUTOBAHN hahahah and i have drive there many fast kilometers some times between the 180 -210 km (that's about i think 125-130 miles but i am not sure.(1 km = about 1,667 miles i think)
It looks great the bike but , on this time you can better come to Europa and buy some bikes together cause the second hand bikes in a good chape are not so expensiive as by yours on this time i guess.
You can look on the internet and you cansee it, i mean of course your get the parts by it and the bike looks good, but i haven't hear him in the video hopely he tiks good and drives good and there a no problems with the motor/engine.
When you have time you come to look here for some nice bikes , then you can drive together with Joline some days in our camper Germany, Belgium and Luxembourg are niot so far and of course our Dutch land the Netherladns. then you can self look for some nice bikes.
I hope that 's al good with this bike and it is i think for youre there it is okay. the price here it were to expencive but okay.

Later on I club raced AMA formula 1 and 2 and street legalized a TZ250G and a TZ750 and rode them to work in Seattle for a couple of years. Later I pulled the L.C. engine out of the 250 and installed an RD400 motor. More streetable. I only currently have one motorcycle a 77' MT125R2 formula 3 bike. It only has 3 hours on it.

I had a 74 that I bought from the original owner, that bike was considered a top dog in its day. Those bikes never go out of style, probably a decent price from what I could see. The green is different, probably worth more in factory color, but the green is nice. I love the bike.

watched last night. Now I will throw something out there. I have enjoyed your show for a LONG time. And yes you are a car guy. So it seems strange that ya like so many bikes. Although not to strange, as I also likes bikes. SO, maybe you should think about cutting up a couple of those bikes. If you were to look at "Wheel's through Time", you will see were some folks like yourself have done amazing things with a motorcycle engine. There is the plane, and the vehicle that was used in an underground mine. I have also seen where a person took a transmission out of a motorcycle and hooked it up with an electric motor and a couple limit switches to use as his garage door opener. Just saying ya do not need the whole bike to make something cool.

I had a Suzuki “Water buffalo” the guy was giving away in pieces in milk crates. When I say pieces I mean completely tore apart, engine and all. Put it all back together running like a top. Man that thing would sh#*@git! Was told they discontinued them because they went too fast.

Hey B-Chad, I'm fan of yours from across the puddle, on the Island. I was toying with the idea of selling my Bike. It's definitely high end collectable. If your firmliary with the whole story about how the liter sport bikes came into affect. Do your research, through the 99-00 Superbike manufacturers race. I have a 2000 honda erion racing edition 929RR VIN# 0002. Honda paid tribute to honor Erion winning the 97-98 98-99 honda Superbike season. Their were only 2000 produced, mine being 2nd. I located bike #1 it is in erion brothers private collection. These 929s were only in production for 1year.

Whenever learning to ride a motorcycle always start out with a smaller one to learn how the clutch & gears work. And also to master the stopping power the front brake can make you slide out with just a little bit of sand or water especially on a turn. Never try to learn on a bike with a high-value simply because parts are hard to find

    In 1972 I traded my 1967 Camaro SS/RS 350 for an almost brand new 1972 750 Honda plus $50.00.
The 1972 Honda sold new in Canada for $2,150.00 and since I'd only paid $1,650.00 for my Camaro 2 years earlier I thought it was a good deal.😊
The Honda was a great bike and never gave me any major problems. Would I make that same deal today?
Of course not, but keep in mind, used muscle cars back then sold for a fraction of the price they sell for today.

I love watching when the search videos start, Chad does the same thing I used to do and it will never leave, the eyes begin the side-to-side search like lights on a scanner and anything that looks out a place is something to double look, a shiny spot across a field could be the car nobody stopped to see, a handlebar in a pile of junk could be the motorcycle everyone has been looking for, like a good hunter yea don't look for the whole thing yea look for just a part, the rest is usually attached.

One of the most collectible bikes in the UK, we had the tank in golden yellow..Also I agree with the others regarding Jolene being so quite, she needs to interact more and you need to film her helping. At least a small clip off a tripod.
