I agree… My god, she did not play with this at all. And she’s not even 30 yet. It’s almost scary to think of where she is going. That type of arrangement also reminds me of Cecile Mclorin Salvant. She’s adventurous like this and has the chops to pull it off. Some of those interval jumps… sheesh… So wonderful to know that the music is still alive and still evolving. And you mentioned Betty… Betty, Betty, Betty… gotta go listen to some of her now!
I've now seen her live twice (just listened to her last night) and I'm still in absolute awe. Amazing things are in store for this incredibly unique singer and....man.... I'm still at a loss for words for what she can do.
