I would buy this range for its features, if it had controls more like the non-Gallery range (FCFI3083AS)... Making the cook top controls touch controls on the surface, and the oven controls a freaking touch menu where you have to navigate through options makes this range cumbersome and impractical for anyone doing a lot of cooking. It would be great if Frigidaire would make a version of this range that has more traditional controls, for anyone who prefers function over form.

I’m nervous about the proliferation of touch screens in appliances (and cars) - it seems like at best they’re a regressive cost cutting measure by the manufacturer that worsens the design for most users, and at worst they’re part of a nasty, wasteful planned obsolescence profit grift at the customer’s expense. They are not future tech, they’re just cheaper to produce than buttons. Apart from really specific needs or use cases, I’m not convinced that anything that doesn’t have some sort of updateable data or firmware should ever be designed around a touchscreen, at least not a proprietary one.
