The Honda headbutt change is crazy, especially considering Capcom doesn't seem to mind Blanka being one of the strongest character is the very same game
I feel like Blanka ball takes more thought and skill to use, at least when he's not in level 2
@@KingOfDarknessAndEvil I don't know, at high level headbutt is a free perfect parry, unlike blanka ball; and at lower levels both moves are complete scrub killers anyways
@@KingOfDarknessAndEvilBB is way more belligerent. Blanka at base level have a grab mix with light, and is nearly unpunishable on block if using the heavy.
Let's not forget that Blanka has way more mobility options than Honda does. Cross up rainbow, air BB, slide, hop, and lets not forget the heaven and earth level of difference between sumo spirit and blanka-chan in terms of value.
Honda's changes are clearly focused on killing some of his absurd winrate on lower ranks. He's like the worst kind of character a game can have: almost a win button on lower ranks, and really bad at the top level.

@@SPZ-gv2onlol nah his recovery on boom is nonexistent he invalidates fireball invul cause if you charge partition which every guile main should do, you can just ex dp their fireinvul. Next, boom loops, next, flashkick range, level 2, 7 frames optimal punish counter, the wildest thing of all time
It's okay every character will have their time to shine. I main a low tier feels kinda bad but the game will have a long life span. Guile nerfs will come eventually.
I can see why they nerfed buttslam for the casual audience, hell even in Master some people still get locked down by butt slam spam

ya people lowkey massively downplay how good headbutt and butt slam are. they are insane. the only players who they are "bad" against are a hand full top player. They have to be nerfed in order to actually buff other parts of the character so they can become better.
@@radfield6089 Yeah its kinda the trade off for making a character revolve around a gimmick. They're game-plan has to be good but everything else is mediocre or vice versa. I'd imagine their really tedious to balance.

That 6HP change on Zangief was one of my biggest wishes (though I really wanted +8 just so that the frame advantage is the same vs block in burnout).

Like the Kimberly changes. It will be nice to actually have a reason to combo into her lv2 cause it might be the least used lv2 in the game. That being said I don’t think it solves Kimberly’s major defensive weakness. I think the universal DR buff is supposed to help characters without reversals but I think that makes them more meter reliant. We’ll see. I would’ve loved if they just decreased the start frames on her lv1.
Here’s the funny part, it doesn’t help unless they make lv1 faster or give her a DP back lol. It still loses to the safejabs that lv1 has lost to since day one, yk, the strategy that got drive rush reworked such that it comes out on whiffed lights? yeah, that same strategy that already overpowers kim on defense
honestly surprised the denjin change wasn't done waaaaaay sooner, they gave g the exact same fix only a couple years ago and it was tight. maybe they were concerned about it being too strong?
I think it's one of those things Capcom didn't think the player base would care.

they did it to birth more Luke mains. the Denjin buff is so obvious that I wouldn't be surprised if they removed it from Ryu's kit with the intention of giving it back in the season 2 patch

If she gets weak buffs she still might get overall better if the other strong characters get decent nerfs. Their nerfs alone will make her more powerful in general even if she got zero buffs.
@@ADreamingTravelernah, she need genuine buffs. Her lack of positive frames and weak DR means that she plays poorly in a vacuum before she even gets to contest opponent's things.
I hope to god her spin is actually good at anti projectiles since AKI got her anti fireball buffed.

Ryu is looking much better, especially because he could have a potentially strong 6 frame punish on the drive reversal (5mp, 4hp, H Donkey kick, L dp). Also, keeping denjin for when you want is quite nice.
are u sure that hits? it's a genuine question bc after the drive reversal we are pushed a little far away, and after the 5mp, even farther, the 4HP must be VERY close to hit from my experience, so I was wondering about that too
@@dominick_sgi doubt 4hp connects but it will be a punish counter, so you can just link 5hp and that will always work

@@dominick_sg correct. even if his suggested combo does work, it would only do so fully in the corner. 5hp routes for ryu can still easily do 60% with a full cash out, anywhere on screen

I am SO happy about Ryu being able to choose when to use the Denjin charge. I can actually throw fireballs now in neutral without giving up my charge for combos! Sounds really nice!
Manon's biggest problem seem to be how much they want you to use ex moves to extend your combos, while also probably needing to use a dr to get into that situation in the first place. I know that's only 1 listed change, but feels like they are leaning into that even further which kind of blows. She'll have a seemingly strong dp punish combo at least now, but I also struggle to think of a time you couldn't do this, when you would want to anyways.
This already works on punish counter btw. So... It doesn't change anything. I've seen some Manon main punishing DR with B.HP but they're just crazy 😂😂😂, at least they'll have a combo now.
@@numa2k147 oh yeah I know, I play her, but now she'd have a 5 bar conversion off a 5hk punish counter with big corner carry too. I'm thinking 5hk-5mp-dr-4mp-4hp-ex spin kick-214k. But back to my point, that shit is expensive lol.
People dont p'ay lily so they probably dont notice any changes. However, that does mean nothing has been done about her weak defense. Looks like they hope that ra drive reversal will help out characters with non invincible dps. But at that point... Why not make the dp invincible???

I feel the need to point out how much Broski was struggling to hit confirm Chun's 4/6MP as it is right now in the unedited Twitch vod. I think if a player as good as him cannot consistently confirm a move with a 17f cancel window, it might be fine for that move to have a 17 frame cancel window. I don't know. I sincerely hope that it's a 1 frame nerf, or something. That move was literally fine. Chun having god buttons is her whole thing.
The -6 drive reversal change is a mixed bag when you consider what tier does it effects.
Grapplers don't mind it, in fact it is better for them because they might get lesser punishes
Its bad for Luke, since his 2HP is 7 frames
Its fine for Chun, because her 2MP is 6 frames and it can combo into stance MK for massive damage
Its bad for Ryu, since his 2MP is stubby, he might need to punish with 5LK
Luke still has a medium punish with cr. MP. Also we have to take into account their frame data might change... But the startup of Drive Reversal being faster is also a good thing.

It's funny how Honda (one of the lower tier characters) gets destroyed, but right underneath him Luke (The best character in the game) gets another slap on the wrist. 😂
Honda got buffed, he went from bottom 4 to bottom 1 in just a single update!

why would they need to make headbutt + because of that? The spammy nature at which that character is played, I'm glad both his moves might get changed. The fact I have to perfect parry these things to be able to deal with them is dumb. The damage isn't enough to get Honda players to stop spamming the holy hell out of these two moves. Perfect parry punish it, they'll just keep doing it.
Any steps to make Honda less of a POS is a GOOD thing. I like Honda, always have, but have not liked how this character was designed. I think this is the worst version of Honda ever because of how stupid he is. You can watch people headbutt/ass slam all the way to master. High level Honda might not be strong, but in literally every level below it, he's ridiculous.
The Gief stomp thing, by the wording there as I understand it, doesn't that mean you can interrupt the second stomp with that change? It's not a true blockstring from 1st/2nd stomp, this means you can either interrupt it or backdash out of it. A nerf basically.
I don't think you understand the Gief change. The stomp RIGHT NOW isn't a true blockstring. Broski tested it in this very video.
Gief's stomp didn't get a gap added to it, the people who play-tested must've thought it did cos no one uses the move

You still can get a safejump against blocked Drive Reversal without spending meter.
I like the raw drive reversal change, if you were going to burn out from a meaty or a safe jump you could do it one wake up to try and get them off of you

Dhalsim's level 2 is a pile of horse crud. They need to give you the option of having a horizontal moving one like Ultra 1 in SF4, so can get oki and hit point blank crouchers.

I think they nerfed JP lvl 2 recovery so you can interrupt it more easily if he activates raw. Currently it is -7, so maybe it is around -9 or 10, making it more vulnerable from far away

Its 6 frames and the range was always insane, and its probably still going to be godlike, don't worry you can still exploit it until the patch

I hope to god those aren't the only Gief changes or SF6 is going to be the last SF game I ever play. I am not dealing with another entire year with how bad Gief and grapplers in general feel in SF6 I already had years of that in SFV and I do not want to continue.
Like I expected massive amounts of changes for every single character and if this whole 1 big patch a year shit they have been harking on turns out to be a warm salad I'm fucking out.

Bro its a good buff, if they're not careful he'll be top 5 in the game, so many buffs to grapplers make them unbelievably strong and high tier grapplers are never a good thing for fighting games

He needs a way to actually land headbutt consistently for this to really even matter and he doesn't. Or he needs better defensive tools so 1 interaction doesn't feel like the end of the round. Gief is almost entirely made up of weaknesses and flaws and he feels awful to play if you are in masters rank which I am. Tired of my character feeling like crap at the skill rating I'm in because a bunch of toddlers dont wike the scawy SPD.
Also you would have to do a lot to make him top 5, hes flaws are so glaring and transparent. You and people like you who screech "But we have to be carful or he will be too good" honestly have no idea what your talking about. This fear of grapplers is unwarranted and has happened in like 1 version of like 2 SF games in the last 30 years.

I understand they have their own timetables for marketing purposes and whatever, but if the patch is done, and Akuma is done, why do we have to wait three weeks? It’s a little frustrating.
I imagine they leave themselves a buffer for any unforseen halts in development or more bug testing. Nobody wants a patch like tekken 8 that had a lot of bugs and unintended issues
When it comes to development, there's a massive difference between "done" and done. I imagine the SF6 Akuma patch is "done." We don't want "done" though. "Done" is what most Triple A games release as these days. They're technically done, but they are buggy as frick and miserable to play. What we want as players is for the patch to be truly done, which means that the patch has been "done" for a while, but they gave themselves a few months to polish, test, make sure everything is balanced the way they want, and that we won't get any crashes/instability. It does suck waiting, but the long term pay off is a better experience for us and a much smoother launch for them, which equates to better PR for them as well

I noticed no one reported anti airs, but given AKI anti fireball being frame 1, I hope Capcom applied such similar measures to everyone's anti airs.
Hopefully oki is gonna get more standardized too if the backthrow is gonna see universal changes.

I think the honda buttslam nerf was to eliminate people's ability to spam buttslam > jab >buttslam >jab.
i never found it that strong to begin with, so it's a confusing change. I hope they can fix that character, I love him so much.
It's just obnoxious. That's enough of a reason to get rid of it. It's not strong enough as an actual gameplan, but just obnoxious enough to make gold rank and below miserable.

I love how Season 2 starts with Akuma and stage launched, which were meant to be in season 1. Why do I feel short changed?
I'm very curious to see how they will improve or fuck Guile up. 1-Being a charge focus character, there is no reason why his crouching weak kicks cannot be cancellable as they were in older SFs. That would improve his low low boom/flash kick mixup options. 1.5- His button links do not feel natural/smooth. The timing is so robotic (tekken anyone?), it makes the level of execution sickenning. 2-He desperately needs his flash kicks reviewed for corner escape. He sucks major balls when trapped there considering he's supposed to be the de-facto anti air subject matter expert. Eliminate (reduce?) forward mommentum for his weak one so that it can no longer be crossed. 3-I would love for him to get his jump-downward boom thingy from SF5 again, albeit with slightly less travel height. I could see this as a very viable alternative to his sobat kick to calm the crouch medium drive rush crack zombies out there some! Everything else can prety much remain the same as far as I'm concerned.

Most Cammy players dont even use OD spin knuckle to beat fireballs. Heavy should have been nerfed as well. U can react at least to Ryu's fireball u can.

Drive reversal buff is so you don’t get DI if you’re late and input drive reversal after block stun ends?
It's on wakeup, so no block stun required. Everyone is essentially getting a metered reversal
